Excellent post OP.

I really wish I could go to this. Those of you who are going, please make the rest of us proud. Ask direct questions about specific plot-holes, and please keep your cool.

A shining beacon to the raging ones out there. Everyone who didn't like the endings needs to read this.

if you dont have an emotional investment or you take enough steps back. and ignore the plot holes

Shepard survives massive waves of enemies
He runs forward dramatically to the beam trying to get to it to teleport to the crucible
Harbinger blasts him but because he's a surely powerful hero he survives and gets onboard.
He meets the illusive man for an morality debate before either talking him to death or killing him
Anderson dies leaving Shepard alone but the crucibile isn't working so shep has to find out whats wrong. He collapses but is taken up by a platform to meet an Preprogrammed V.I. to tell him how to use the crucible {yes your brain literally has to ignore the catalyst ancient lifeform with terrible logic}
You then choose whether shepard

Controls the Reapers by making them pacifists but wrecking the Mass Relays

Synthesizes all Lifeforms so they can coexist peacefully while wrecking the Mass Relays

Destroys the Reapers and all of synthetic technology including the Mass Relays Edi and Geth

Joker Crashes on a paradise planet where the gang gan live in peace regardless of any other chaos.

And Then it turns out that it's a 1000 years later and like the bible is to us Shepards story is to the people of the future to explain why the Asari and other races aren't known except in legends.

See if you ignore every plothole in the ending and have no sense of the history of the games it can make sense. But if your even a casual fan it falls apart faster then a tooth pick sculpture under a tire.

With all due respect, I just think this is untrue. Are you honestly translating a desire to ensure the smooth running of a charity for sick kids with hating the Retake movement?

They said it best in their post in the Penny Arcade site.

"Child's Play cannot be a tool to draw attention to a cause. Child's Plat must be the the Cause."

Can you really fault them for it? Regardless of their position on the Retake movement, they have a noble cause they are working towards with their charity, and I for one don't want it to be jepordized for anything.

Even my desire for lots and lots of blue children.

The posts at Penny Arcade have never indicated they have any negative feelings towards the Retake Movement, and I take them at their word, and why shouldn't I? I'm not going to question the character and integrity of people are started a gorram charity for sick kids.

Hold the Line...but not with hate.

Wasn't Childs Play founded so that Gamers could break the stereotype that we're all hateful psychotic monsters and was basically a political tool which just happened to benefit kids? If so then two things may have happened.

1. Penny Arcade actually began to care about the kids rather then just seeing him as tools for their agenda. So now the mission statement changed from "Show gamers are good people too" to "Help kids"

2. Penny Arcade will continue to use the Charity as a tool but it's their tool and they wont share with anyone especially anyone whose use of the tool is against Penny Arcade's agenda.

Soooo Take your pick.

Folks,

I don't represent whether or not EA funds us for any DLC content. EA supports us, don't worry about that. I help to manage some of that budget, yes, but my primary goal is to work with Casey (the executive producer) and the other creative visionaries around BioWare and create something we are proud of.

I can understand how Producers get a bad reputation sometimes - but most of us care passionately about the product we are putting out. Of course, having a financially successful game is important - but making something we are proud of, and something that's a very high quality is even more important to me.

More soon...And see, we still do read the forums :)

Its cool that you came in here Mr. Gamble. I'm not going to be able to be at PAX, so I will give you my statement here.

The fact is, we love ME. Heck, I got a 360 just to be able to play ME1-3. You guys made a universe that is so epic that people are willing to to fight to protect it, even if its from itself. So I ask you, please help us to help you. Add to the endings so that people do feel that they have a choice. Please put in a happy ending LI ending, Reapers win ending, etc, and fix the plot holes. This way, your strongest supporters can join you again to help make ME3 the epic title that we all know it is.

Thanks for listening,
~J

I think Child's play was founded to help kids, the fact that if it was a success and showed people that the Gamer sterotypes are incorrect was a welcome side effect (though I imagine they considered the possability).

And you make it sound as though just having an "agenda" is a bad thing. Of course they have an agenda, everyone has one. The people who donated in the name of Retake had an agenda. Is there anything wrong with them wanting their agenda, help kids, to remain clear and un-cluttered by attached causes?

Also, if they did "share" their tool, that sets a precident. If they share with one group, but not another, they've essentiall taken a position opposing the cause they refued to share with, and then we're off to the races.

Child's play has a clear goal, a noble goal. Can you honestly say Retake is more important than ensuring the future of the charity is just a little bit safer?

I support Retake, I would love to see an Indoctrination Theory based DLC (hell, I'd pay for one at this point), and I hope Bioware validates my past belief in them by listening to their fans, but my Happiness over the ending of the trilogy is not more important that the Happiness of sick kids, and the charity that strives to bring it to them.

I certainly agree that the biggest way to affect the outcome of this entire thing is to make it clear that we are not purchasing from a company that has executed the ending in this fashion . Very well done , OP . Hit what matters , don't feel entitled to anything else except what we do with our money . Make them realize this .

The issue with the retake charity was that people were creating the false impression that Child's Play themselves was responsible or that it was actually somehow directly tied into the funding of a new ending.

Penny Arcade was made to break a stereotype, not to use a club to try and make a point to a company.

I seriously do wish Bioware much luck at PAX.  I can't imagine how difficult that is going to be for you guys.  I anxiously await your announcement regarding the endings.  I'm trying my best to be patient but it is difficult at times...

Great post !!!

Who ever goes should use their cell or some way to video tape the interaction.
This way to show that the fans were polite and see the body language of the producer or who ever answers the question.

Be polite and clear when talking. Show respect.

Hold the Line !

Even further to the point is the epilogue. Two humans on the same planet as the Normandy. This is impossible because the are not enough Humans on the Normandy to give rise to a cvilization, see Inbreeding Depression.

We keep treating this like a war and I think that's causing unnecessary tension. If it will help, view it more as a conversation.

But...uh...avoid the use of the phrase "real talk", please.
