I have been wracking my brain, trying to formulate some sort of way to ensure one bitter, angry fan, doesn't colour the whole fanbase with a rant and damage the Retake movement, and short of having snipers with tranq guns standing by...I got nothing.
Some people may be hurt deeply, and may say things they may regret, and that the larger, more restrained/polite fanbase will wish they hadn't said, but truthfully I doubt there's much we can do besides call for restraint beforehand, as this thread does.
What we can do, is in the event that is just a lone angry fan, is keep the rest of the discussion polite, and demonstrate that their unfiltered anger does not represent the greater fanbase.
Also, we should, following the event, be vigilant for any newspost or blog or whatever that seizes upon the lone dissident as proof that we are all whiny, bitter, unpleasable fanboys/girls. If such a report is posted, steps should be taken to clarify and point out how innacurate such a statement is.
This thing can only get out of hand if we give in and let it. Hold the line.

They know that one angry fan doesn't represent the movement. They have acknowledged this personally. They can't escape speculation. This is a gigantic mess and one that certainly won't blow over if one person goes ape. We survived that guy filing an FTC complaint remember?

I will admit, I did not read up fully on the FTC thing, as I saw the headlines, groaned, felt embarresed by proxy and avoided reading from that point on.

One boob going ape won't do anything. And Penny Arcade running the show doesn't help things either but not addressing the issue would be very foolish. The producer himself came in here an attempted to alleviate fears about what is happening and my own personal feelings about producers. Here's the deal, I feel we aren't giving Bioware enough credit. We all assume the worst is going to happen, when we don't even have all the facts yet. We need to be prepared for April, and we need to be ready for what comes next.

I apologize if I've given the impression I am assuming doom and gloom. I still believe Bioware will handle this well given time. I want to believe it. I personally don't think one angry fan can ruin our chances, and I was more or less repsonding to a few posts that seemed to be concerned about that.
I am very interested to see what April will bring.

I agree. We need to remain positive. We all assume the worst because we all believe we were given the worst. Crap runs downhill and you need to wade through it to get to the top.

Why do I have the feeling that PAX will just have more of the same runaround reply that Dr. Muzyka already gave everyone? I just have a strong feeling that we'll be getting more of the same story with a different take....
I mean, I'm sure Dr. Muzyka's comments were already pre-screened (or outright written for him) by the PR dept to be the corporate stand on the subject. Coming from a corporate environment myself, I know how companies are loathe to change their stances -especially- if it means that they'll be admitting to any kind of error/failure/fault.
Don't mean to be a doomsayer, just voicing actual personal concerns.

Folks,
I don't represent whether or not EA funds us for any DLC content. EA supports us, don't worry about that. I help to manage some of that budget, yes, but my primary goal is to work with Casey (the executive producer) and the other creative visionaries around BioWare and create something we are proud of.
I can understand how Producers get a bad reputation sometimes - but most of us care passionately about the product we are putting out. Of course, having a financially successful game is important - but making something we are proud of, and something that's a very high quality is even more important to me.
More soon...And see, we still do read the forums
