Well, a bit of an old thread but I'll throw myself in the ring as a mentor. I've been playing since the demo and almost exclusively play gold.

GT on XBL: n80613
Specialties: Adepts (biotic explosions and support tactics), Engineers (specialty in fire explosions), and Infiltrators. I can play and help with any class/character well but I don't play vanguards as much.
I am knowledgeable in tactics, builds, and weapon selection and know all maps quite well.
All I require is a mic, that you don't scream like a 2 year old, respectful good attitude, and common sense (I don't work with rambo tactics unless you know how to stay alive and make it work)
Send me a message on xbl before adding me so I know who you are. I'm usually on evenings and nights.
Also I wouldn't mind playing with some people who are good with vanguards on gold, I've been wanting to learn how its done but haven't put the time in lol.

Bronze, Silver, Gold, doesn't matter. I don't play Sentinels but know the rest inside and out. And I don't camp on Gold. If you need players for that yawn fest, count me out.

My GT on XBOX is CHIRONATOR

I know the basics, it is the details I am looking to learn.

For example, I don't know details of the BIOTIC EXPLOSION or TECH BURSTS that deal the greatest damage. I dont have a great memory for what goes well together but if someone in the lobby could say "Do you have an ADEPT/SENTINEL/ENGINEER with REAVE/ENERGY DRAIN/INCINERATE that you can use with my power? then I could change over and work with that.

I like every class except I don't do sniper rifles very well. The only ones I can use are my Valiant and Raptor. Can't hit a damn thing with my Widow VII or Krysae III. Love my Carnifex and Talon.

Er... are you posting your GT here because you want to sign up to be a mentor or because you want someone to help you? I get the feeling the latter, but it's a bit vague. Anyway, I'd say you can add me but I'm on Origins.

WARNING: WALL OF TEXT FOLLOWS

Anyway, Biotic Explosions are triggered when target is hit with a duration based biotic ability like Warp or Sigularity (there's a list). Once that target is affected by the effect, you hit it with a damage based biotic ability, like Reave or Push, other than the one used to trigger the duration effect (like Reave or Warp). If you have a good biotic team, they'll cause a lot of havok.

Tech Burst functions similarly, but still differently. Tech Burst occurs when you hit a target with an electrical based ability, like Overload or Energy Drain. Afterwards, hit it with ANY damage based ability, such as Proximity Mine, Concussive Shot, Warp (yes, biotics work too). Depending on the ability, you have a limited amount of time to cause a Tech Burst. FYI, Overload lasts longer than Energy Drain. I don't see these happening often, though, but it might just be that they're not easily noticed.

Also note: some biotics get annoyed because "Energy Drain/Overload cancels Biotic Explosion." This is not the case. Energy Drain and Overload overrides it. The Biotic Explosion can still be detonated if the biotic in question, for example, double throws the target. The first throw will detonate the Tech Burst while the second one detonates Biotic Explosion. I don't know if it works in reverse order, but I suspect so.

Fire Explosion occurs only when the target dies, and I suspect Cryo works the same exact way (except with Cryo) but it's been so long since I've seen it in action. This one's a bit harder to pull off. First, you have to cause the target to be set on fire by abilities such as Incinerate, Incindiary Grenade, or Carange. After that, you MUST kill the target with a damaged based ability, such as Proximity Mine, Concussive Shot, or Energy Drain. I suspect Biotics work as well, but I haven't tried it. Your target will generally not show up as being killed by the Fire Explosion, but enemies around will be damaged by it. These are rare, though. I normally only see these when my friend's around with a engineer and if we're fighting Geth. Normally, if he sees a Prime's combat drone or turret, he'll use incinerate on the target and I'll cause the explosion using Energy Drain or Proximity Mine. He is, however, capable of setting it off on his own.

Good luck.

Welcome. I'd say I'd add you to the list, but the creator of this group hasn't been around. You can, however, join the group he made.

I have no idea how I missed this thread, but a recent "help the newbs" thread contained a link to it, so I want to add myself and give this thing a bump.

I've been helping rookies out by taking at least one gaming day and dedicating it to playing in bronze, so this is the perfect group for me.

System: PS3
PSN: DragonRacer13
Specialization: Turian Sentinel
Can provide help with: Basics of all classes/most races, tips for best/fastest completion of objectives, map layout (enemy spawn points, ammo box locations, etc), basic tactics and strategy that are proven to work for bronze and silver, biotic explosions
Mic: I have one; you don't have to, but it helps
Most often found in: Silver, occasional Bronze
Timezone: EST (GMT-5)
Hours Usually Available: Weeknights 6-8pm, Weekends sporadic but most often between 12pm noon-8pm

I have about 10 spots left on my friends list before it gets full. If you send me a friend request and it bounces back/is denied, send me a message and I can do some pruning if needed. Posted Image When sending a friend request, please reference that it is in response to seeking an ME3 mentor. Thanks!

OP. WELL DONE. Caps well deserved.

If you need an instructor in how to be good at silver but fail spectacularly on gold, I'm in.
