I'm more hyped for it now because I am naively hoping they'll make 3 movies, they'll be just like the games (full paragon, sorry RenSheps) and then at the end THEY WONT DO THIS ENDING. That's what I hope.

I know some people would be pissed if the good ending was in the movies and not the games, but me, from where I sit, I'll take a different ending anyway I can get it. Hire Matthew Fox and let's do this!

Has anyone ever been hyped for a video game movie?

I thought the Final Fantasy one was going to be good in my childish hope. It was the first lesson of not wasting my money on movies "based" on video games.

yeah good point. I thought Tomb Raider would be good when I was like 10-11. I guess I should say has anyone with a fully developed frontal lobe ever been hyped for a video game.

I have to admit, I am really curious on how they will handle the story and characters in the movie. With the ending though, I think it would be really depressing to watch. Also, a big deal-breaker for me is what actors they hire, and so far none have been announced.

I'm wondering why it's not considered against 'artistic integrity' when an original story (from a book or video game) is re-written or re-tailored for a movie to suit a wider audience.

Matthew Fox is the dude I was thinking of. Yeah he legit looks like Shepard. Though apparently Seth Green has already been ruled out as being cast as Joker so the movie would automatically fail.

If they follow the original game to the letter it should be good (ME1 having the best plot, and the best antagonist/protaganist relationship and Sovereign is actually scary)

But I live on planet earth where Video games are never made into good films because film makers don't understand, nor take the time to understand, what made the game great.

They already confirmed it's not.
Can't have a female protagonist in Hollywood unless she's an exploited sex object after all. Another reason why I hate Hollywood.

What hype? There was never any promotional material, posters, teasers, or trailers.

We know nothing about the plot, the characters, or even the actors who are in the alleged film. As far as we're concerned, the movie does not exist.

Video game movies suck. They always have to tell the story their way, which ends up being nothing like the game.

Completely forgot about the movie, isn't it animated? Like the Dead Space prequel, that was epic!

I actually warmed up to Prince of Persia, and it was a video game movie. So ME could work.

Couldn't care less about the movie.

For two reasons.

First, it sounds like it's going to be a re-hash of ME1. Already been there, done that, seen that story, did it *my* way with *my* shep. Pass.

Second, with the current ending the trilogy has, and the depressing shadow coupled with gigantic plotholes it casts all the way back to the events of ME1, I have no desire to watch a movie who's story I know eventually ends as it does.

Well, with Fillion in the lead, it would automatically get more than 2 % (rightfully so).

But along the way, there were some statements that the film would not actually be about Shepard but about new characters, supposedly so they wouldn't canonize a particular version of the game's story. Which I thought was a foolish idea to begin with. But, then again, maybe I imagined those statements.

You know, after watching Ridley Scott's Prometheus last trailer, I looked at Noomi Rapace and I couldn't help myself but to say ''Shepard''

let's just take the entire cast of firefly. And put them in this movie. Simon can play Kaidan. Adam Baldwin can play Presley, or idk someone else there's not a lot of human male characters now that I think about it, Nathan Fillion can play Shepard.

Yeah now that I think about it they'd probably replace most of the alien characters with human dudes if they ever made it into a movie.

If it was done right...it could be fantastic. But history hasn't been kind to videogame to movie transitions. The best ones I can think of that were at least somewhat faithful to their source material were the Silent Hill movie, and Prince of Persia. The Silent Hill movie actually used the music from some of the games, and the creature designs were taken right from the games as opposed to giving them a hollywood spin. While neither movie was great, they were at least watchable.

Mass Effect needs a fantastic writer for the script, and a director who will be faithful to the universe, and wont try to do his own thing with it. Thats hard to find given the egos that fly around when making a movie. I cringe when I think about what some shlub is going to do to the Bioshock film.
