Has anyone ever been hyped for a video game movie?
I thought the Final Fantasy one was going to be good in my childish hope. It was the first lesson of not wasting my money on movies "based" on video games.
yeah good point. I thought Tomb Raider would be good when I was like 10-11. I guess I should say has anyone with a fully developed frontal lobe ever been hyped for a video game.
You know, I didn't think Final Fantasy: Advent Children and Resident Evil: Degeneration were bad, and I'm actually curious as to where they're going with RE: Damnation. But those are direct, animated sequels to the games. Live action films... Don't really come out great.
Prince of Persia was okay, but the only relevance it actually had to Prince of Persia was a guy running around doing stunts in a desert and there were the Sands of Time.
I don't know why directors keep trying for video game movies...

Were you around for the build up to Mortal Kombat?
As for myself? Sakura Taisen The Motion Picture.

To succeed though, it needs to forget that it is a "video game movie". Take the lore, give it to good director and writer and go for it.
That and keep EAs beancounters away from the process!

Because game publishers keep pushing for it.
They still have this notion that videogames need to apologise for being videogames and therefore they need to be expressed in more "legitimate" mediums, like movies.

They pause the movie every few minutes and the audience has to shout out which option to pick.
LOL, that would be pretty funny.

So many things that could go wrong. I don't get my hopes up for movies at all, especially not adaptations of books or games.

Aliens wouldn't have been as epic without Lt. Ripley. Sigourney Weaver is what makes Ripley stand out above being just another space dude fighting aliens.

oh oh! Is it a renegade femShep who romanced Garrus?
or is it my femShep? Or Yours? Or is it that guy over there's Shep?
Is the star a male or female?
Are they going to install keypads in the cinema so the audience can vote if Shepard is going to be renegade or paragon?
Any movie with Shepard in it, will suck (IMO)

Loving the movie with or without her. BUT yes, she did a good job.

In the end, this is true. They could make any movie with any character in the Mass Effect universe, and instead they choose to trod on the players and rehash a story we've already seen. Come on.

I was. And I thought it would be complete and utterly total crap. But one day when it was at the dollar theater (when movies leave real theaters and go to a bargain bin type theater where tickets only cost 1 dollar), I went to see Mortal Kombat. I was pleasantly surprised. It wasn't complete and utterly total crap... it was just total crap. Therefore it actually was better than I thought it would be.
But the sequel sure did make up for it as it was complete and utterly total crap with some extra stank on it. Good thing I didn't even waste the 1 dollar and saw it on network tv years later. When it went off, I thought, "I sure dodged that bullet."
But maybe now Bioware can see how what they did with ME3 can actually affect other things they expect to make money with... like this movie idea.
