You say that as though you never expected to find one here... on the ME3 forum.

I have no issues with IT. I just wish you people would stop stating it as if it were fact and that BioWare are being hyper subtle and awesome as opposed to it being a theory borne out of the desire to deny a completely nonsensical ending.

The new Total Recall movie looks a lot like a ME movie. I see Cerberus troopers and hovercars.

Not really. In fact a lot of my hype for the movie died with Andy Whitfield.

Hold the line.

I'll say what I've said before: If they were to focus it on something other than Shepard and the events of the game, I could potentially see it being good; there's a good bit of backstory to the universe that could be explored, without having to worry about contradicting choices players may have made. They could do the First Contact War, focus on Anderson and Saren, during and after it... Done right, I still think a movie could have potential.

...In light of what's happened with ME3, though, I do not currently have much faith that they'll actually follow a path like that; they'll probably just take the story from the games, turn it into a movie, and trample over everything we know and love. And that is not something I have any desire to watch.

Sorta off-topic: They're remaking Total Recall? When did this happen? And better... why?

I obviously agree that movies based on games are trash, but if you look closely at video game story lines they usually aren't very good. Quoting my friend. "Thats why video game writers never write movies."

BUT I do think ME has a good story there if you had quality top tier people working on it. Gore Verbinski wanted to direct Bioshock but wanted it rated R stating "You can't do it any other way" Universal wanted PG-13 and it got canned for the time being. I do think that game also has a story that would work if done correctly.

I was never hyped for any movie and I have promised myself to never see it when it comes out as after this crap.

Is there anything Hollywood won't rehash? Pretty soon they'll be making remakes out of remakes.

golden rule of movies: if its based on a video game, 99% of the time it will suck. can anyone think of at least 3 video game movies that were truly good

Tron is probably the 'best' of games made into movies.

Tomb Raider and Resident Evil grossed over $250million each, even though they sucked.  That is why they keep trying to make games into movies.  Let's face it, though.  The draw was Angelina and Mila, and their cheap production value.  There isn't a game made into movie that rates above 45% on Rotten Tomatoes.

I'm not hyped for any Mass Effect products. Kinda in the same place I was with the Matrix after watching that awful, awful third movie.

I could have sworn there was a lot of people though in a thread about the movie with their typical "can't wait" posts. Now it seems like nobody was wanting to watch the movie.

Subtlety is a lost art.  Perhaps if it was still appreciated there wouldn't be nearly as much hype about the ME3 ending.  Or at least perhaps the hype would be handled much differently.

I sure hope you're not calling the ME3 ending subtle.

I didn't think my statement was that subtle.  Sure.  Why not?

ME3's ending was about as subtle as a boot to the face.
You do not get to call garbage subtle.

I really don't feel up for getting into a big pissing match over the ending, so I'll just summarize my response as saying look at what any advocate of the indoctrination theory is saying and just imagine I'm saying that here.  That's subtlety.

Yeah, the ending did seem like it wanted to pay homage to Total Recall (and Space Odyssey 2001, or what's it's english name again?).

You can never be sure if it's real or not. I didn't like vague endings at first (like in first Silent Hill game, I was bit dissapointed for not getting all the answers), but then I started enjoying putting the pieces up and make my own theories why something happened the way they did.

Might be why I thought the ending was alright after giving it some thought.

I thought Tron was a movie first then made into a game. I could be wrong though.

Games do have that going against them to a wide extent, yes.  When you make a game about Doom you're not working with literary genius.  But then to go and argue against that they go and take the entire demon and hell taking over aspect out of it entirely like no one that's ever played the game would miss it.

Same thing with Super Mario Brothers.  Plotless, but even the most basic of facts they couldn't have missed more than they did.  Knee high walking mushrooms became 7 foot ogres with tiny heads.

Resident Evil... The first one was... alright.  The second one... with Nemesis?  Christ alive what did they do to him?

I think in the right hands an ME movie could be great, but I don't trust the hands of Hollywood to know what to do with it, so I'd say just don't.

Since I heard the movie will be about Shepard I totally lost interest.

Had it been about say... the first war between Turians and Humans, I'd be more intruiged.

Yep, and check it's poster what I just posted. It blantantly tells "Is this real or not, lol?!". The old movie didn't really spit it on your face like that. Guess audience needs their answers on silver plate without paying attention to details.

Honestly I'm not really sure which way it went.  It's the only example I can think of that was a fairly successful movie and game.

They are already past that, I am legend was a remake of The Omega Man, which was a remake of The Last Man on Earth, which was based on the I am legend book.
