I like Nolan, but I don't think I'd like to see him direct something like ME.  His scripts get a bit... wordy.

Edit:  I think it would be awesome seeing Guy Richie direct an ME movie if only to see how insane he could get with the editing.

Nolan probably wouldnt do it, not sure how keen he would be on sci fi.  I think wordy for the script is good since ME is all about dialogue personally.  Depends on what you want from it I guess though.

Guy Richie would get nuts  LOL  but hell it would fascinating.  I honestly think this would work as a movie and would excited for it.  Just need the right team that is GOOD not some average second class POS like Walters or Hudson making any decisions.

Drew K honestly would write a fine screenplay, he is an excellent writer and 1st class.

I love Guy Ritchie but he's one of the last directors I would want to see directing a mass effect movie. The fast paced dialogue and action are what makes his movies great and that's not really what mass effect is about.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking with the suggestion.  It would be a mess.  A beautiful mess.

TBH, I'm not really that interested and never was.

As for video games into movies, only one I enjoyed was Silent Hill.
I was hyped about Max Payne, cause I thought MAYBE people would take that pulp noir thing and run with it, but it was utter and complete fail...

Now lets think.....

We witness an amazing story - only for those jolly jokers at bioware to completely forget what story they are telling - but instead jump ship and move onto a completely irrelevant star kid offering 3 ways for shep to kill himself. and shep listens to him.......

WHY????

it doesnt make any sense.

What is the point of a movie telling this story? There isnt a story worth telling if you get to the final chapter and find that instead of concluding the story, someone has decided to write the final chapter in gibberish and failed to tie up any of the loose ends from the main story.

Oh you can have the final chapter - but it'll cost you..... EPIC FAIL!!

I am Legend and Thor were both adapations, and I am Legend was apparently pretty true to the book until the producers made them rewrite the ending after screen tests, and Thor is apparently pretty good I haven't seen it, so I'd assume if nothing else he's good at adapting stories without drastically changing them. Apparently he's writing an adaption of old boy too.

I am Legend was a very good adaptation.  I heard good things about Thor so I could be wrong that he wouldn't be a good fit.  Dude obviously isn't bad for sure.  There would be so much to cover with ME though and it is a little different when you go into the sci fi realm.  Of course I recall thinking "Heath ledger for Joker?  WTF"  that turned out quite okay obviously.

The new Total Recall movie looks a lot like a ME movie. I see Cerberus troopers and hovercars.

Is there anything Hollywood won't rehash? Pretty soon they'll be making remakes out of remakes.

They are already past that, I am legend was a remake of The Omega Man, which was a remake of The Last Man on Earth, which was based on the I am legend book.

This is getting way off topic, but speaking of I Am Legend:

I recently finished reading the book and the Will Smith movie from '07 has liteally nothing to do with the novel. Different settings, different characters, different plot, different ending. Only similarity is the title.

Only if Shepard was female. It's the only way to make it unique.

I agree with this 100%. We need more strong female leads(like Alice from Resident Evil). We already have Captain Kirk in Star Trek. Give us FemShep for a Mass Effect movie.

It depends on how exactly BioWare will resolve the problem with ME3 ending.

In a word? No.

Now a Specter series on HBO or Showtime?. . . That would be a different story.

Nope. If it does happen I'll wait for it to come out on Netflix.

At least Netflix is already paid for.

All we seem to know about it is that it's based on the ME1 events.
So I'm sort of 50 - 50. On the plus side, I want to see this world and these characters without the limitations of current hardware.

On the other hand, it's a shorter version of a story I know by heart.  Unlike Resident Evil or Tomb Raider, there's very little a movie adaptation could add. The Resident Evil games were released on the original Playstation, so when the movies were made, the visuals were considered TERRIBLE and the voice acting even worse.
Mass Effect has good visuals and excellent voice acting.

I'm not going to get hyped or bash this movie until I know something... ANYTHING about it. Who's directing, who's acting etc.

I actually warmed up to Prince of Persia, and it was a video game movie. So ME could work.

Having not actually played the games, I did like the movie a little.

However with a major massive game that has a complex story ,a movie can't really work.

How come no one has made a CoD movie....

I am interested on a movie but.

It should have a BIGGGG budget.
It should be made with love and carefully.
It shouldn't be made by seeking a blockbuster movie that will be forgotten 1 year later.
It should be completly loyal to the ME1 plot.

I'd go see the movie. The first game had a good story, character depth and some plot twists along the way and a big battle at the end that would look amazing on the big screen.

Do I think it'll be another financially successfull Transformers-like trilogy? I have no idea.

The first Resident Evil movie was good (I never played the games so I knew nothing about them) and was greatly entertained by it because it seems they changed the story of the first game for the better for the movie version. The subsequent movies have been awful.

Mass Effect had a solid story already so while a few tweaks will likely be made and the game's canon will likely be followed (Wrex & Ashley die on Virmire, Rachni queen destroyed, Destiny Ascension/Council are lost and Udina becomes councilor) which is fine by me despite my Paragon-tendencies.

As we know zip about it: Never was. Give me more to work with and maybe I will be. However, considering what happened to Halo and what is now happening with Bioshock, and there being no word on the Dead Space, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed films; I really don't care at this point. Hollywood doesn't want to pay forth a big budget on a video game adaptation unless it's PG-13 and the lion's share goes to the film studio.

As with all movies based on games I can see the potential, but suspect it will be lost. If I see the name Micheal Bay or Uwe Boll, I won't even bother watching it. If the movie gets made, the fact that they will change things may actually now end up positive, at least in regards to the ending. However, I recall all the other movies based games and so my expectations are low. I do note however there hasn't been a game with as much potential to bcome e a good movie franchise since Resident Evil and while that disapointed many it was succesful enough to spawn multiple sequels.

Anyway, I'm not hyped, but the ending fiasco has taken my enthusiasm somewhat.

All of this. Even before ME3 the chances of me seeing a movie based on ME3 were non-existant. We're talking about a game we've spent hundreds of hours on being boiled down to 2 hours. Not to mention I only play femShep, seeing a movie based on mShep is even less interesting then a simple ME movie
