Fresh from the @MassEffect Twitter:

@masseffect any more info on 4000 or 5000 ems no being possible for single player only people?
Mass Effect Mass Effect ‏ @masseffect

@thejasonpotter We've been told by fans who play only SP that they've achieved that score! Did you do all planet scanning and side missions?

It's funny because she doesn't say

"As the voice of Bioware I can confirm you this is possible, people have said it is impossible but they have not found anything"

she says

"we have heard rumors it is possible".

If it turns out to be impossible she could always say "those players were unreliable witnesses" I guess.

This is precisely the lack of communication we are talking about.

How can we take them seriously when they say they are listening and want our 'feedback', and yet refuse to acknowledge this issue?

Actually, sorry... they have at least read some of what we have said.  They have said we are wrong and closed similar threads.

I will give credit to Thomas Abrams if he replied to others (hasn't replied to me yet,  but I didn't expect it because I sent my PM last night and it's the long weekend).
However, he and the @masseffect twitter still say it's possible... and possible to get over 5000 EMS!

So again, we are told we are wrong.

This just breaks my heart.

I think I'm going to go out and enjoy my weekend and cool off about this.
I'll give Thomas Abrams the benefit of the doubt and wait until next week for his response.

Hopefully something good comes from this!

Agreed that this seems like BS. I've palyed through twice on Xbox 360, once on my Paragon Shep import and once on rengade shep import. Both topped out in the 7500 TMS range, and there wasn't THAT MANY mutually exclusive assets...a lot of cases it was 25 more here and 15 less there sort of thing, and not enough to push TMS to 8000. And I've played completionist runs in all three games (every quest I find, scanned all planets, etc.

Even not considering the fact that people ahve gone through coalesced.bin and totaled up all the assets, I'm inclined to believe that 4000+ is not possible for single player only on Xbox360. I would very much like to see Bioware show how this is doable.

I said it in another thread, we should create a group about this topic. That way we could coordinate talks with the developers, share notes, and keep up with Twitter posts and not have to worry about this board moving at the speed of light.

I remember hearing somewhere, the Prima guide or some other guide, that on a second play thought the ships you collect for Shep's cabin count toward war assets... Plus I know in the Prima guide it mentions if you keep a rare fish alive from ME2 throught ME3 it counts toward assets too. Never saw a found on how much they count.

So Thomas Abram has replied to me... on his own time and during the holiday weekend.

I found it to be a pretty positive response, all things considered.
I have asked him if I can re-post his reply here in full, but I won't do that until I have his permission.

Short Version:  He's personally looking into it in his own time over the next couple weeks.
If he finds something, then he will post in one of our threads about it.

Also something noteworthy... he seemed to indicate that a certain special TIM related dialogue choice (we all know what this is) actually ADDS 1000 EMS to your final total.
This means that he was counting it on top of his normal war assets when he said 5000 EMS.

So 4000 EMS PLUS suceeding at that particular plot point is the magic threshold to beat.

I just want to personally thank Thomas Abram for responding, especially on his own time and on the holiday weekend.  After the lack of communication it is a breath of fresh air and does make me feel a little more hopeful.

I'll post his exact reply if and when I get his permission.  I'll also post my response.

HAPPY EASTER WEEKEND FOLKS!!

I'd be down for that.  Never made or joined a group on BSN before though.
Tietj, you want to start it and perhaps a thread with instructions on how to join? (it's probably eezy-peezy, I know)

Yes, Thomas Abram was nothing but polite and respectful to me, and responded promptly. The devs and mods in general don't deserve a lot of the flak they get.

As far as starting a group, Ravennus, my internet connection is nonexistent in my apartment (which is why this subject is such a bug of mine) so I'm on my phone. I may start a group tomorrow when I have access at work on my laptop though.

Incidentally, I'm not sure about what Abram said about the dialogue choice with TIM adding any EMS. In my most recent playthrough, I had something like 2600 EMS (it was a speed run for a non-imported character) but managed to get the dialogue choice with him that caused him to _________. But when I was offered my choice at the end, I was only given 2. 1000 extra EMS would have pushed me over the threshhold for the third choice being offered (2800 I believe, possibly 3000 but either way).

No, the ships do nothing.

If Kelly gave you the paddlefish back and you keep it alive through ME3 and run a NG+, you get an upgrade from the Shadowbroker terminal (something like +5% power damage or whatever).

Sounds good Tietj. I'd look into it myself tonight, but I'm going out for the evening.
We'll figure something out tomorrow?

As an aside.... all of us that are discussing this issue should probably pick one single thread to focus our energies on, eh?
I just realized I've been posting my responses on about 3-4 different threads and that I probably shouldn't be doing this.

I realize it's good for us to get attention this way, especially considering how fast the forum moves these days... but I'm not sure if we'll get flak from the mods for it.

Hmmm, interesting point.  Perhaps it just relates to the 'red' ending special scene then?
In my response to him I did ask him to clarify about the 1000 EMS thing, so we'll see.

Either way, I'm glad he's looking into it and we'll hopefully hear more in the future.
If the reaction to the ending wasn't so extreme, this very well might have been the biggest complaint about the game.
Now that the 'Extended Cut' has been announced, it will only pick up more steam methinks....

I would like to add that Thomas Abram responded to me as well as was quite friendly, so his effort is appreciated...doubly so since he is the only Bioware Employee that even acknowledges that a problem could possibly exist...

...regarding TIM how can you get ems on that choice when it has been stated that EMS is locked in once you start the endgame?

The extra 1000 EMS is likely refering to the fact that during the dialogue with TIM if you make the right choices you only need 4000 EMS to see the special red ending scene as opposed to 5000, it still is not possible to achieve that scene without glitches or multi-player however. The fact that Bioware continues to pretend that this is not the case is just another example of how the people in charge of representing the company have become totally detached from reality and almost everything they say is subject to question at this point.

Maybe it's a special exception that operates outside of the normal EMS and readiness restrictions? *shrug*

BTW, I found this google doc which is pretty much a direct dump from the coalesced.bin file which contains all the war assets.  For those that haven't seen it, it's an interesting read.

https://docs.google....FBS2NrVFE#gid=1

I've sent it to Mr. Abram and he said he'll compare it to his own list once he gets back to work, so that's a big plus. :)

I went ahead and created the group. Ravennus, if Abram let's you post his reply, you should post it in there. We'll start collecting statements by the devs and Twitter and such.

Fair play Ravennus it's good to see a dev actually respond, I suspect the 1000 bonus points is related to the TIM dialogue choice and is the difference between 4000 EMS and 5000 EMS for that scene. As I can't get to 4000 and we've yet to see a method for getting there I still believe the devs are mistaken in their belief this is possible.

Cheers for setting up the group Tietj, joined.

Huh... I just notice that as well.  Odd... though the title was a little aggressive for my tastes, I thought it didn't cross the line.  Still, we've had some great discussion and feedback in this thread so let's keep it going! :):)

In truth I regretted the quotes around accurate fairly quickly after posting but I was pretty steamed over the prior thread getting locked at that stage. Still cheers to the anonymous mod who fixed the issue without stifling the debate!

Strange. Would be nice for the mod who did it to explain indeed. Especially as the original title was more correct than the Jarrett's sticky...
