Bioware, look upon mistakes of others and learn.
Wise man learns from mistakes of others, fool not even from his own.

..I always wanted to try new coke at least once.
Apparently it tasted decently. From what I've heard, it was close to Pepsi in flavor and I abhor that Godawful cola.

New Coke was before my time, but very interesting theory. History repeats itself, so it could very well be the case here. It's a great theory, but only time is going to tell. Thanks for posting this
My pleasure. Like I said, the parallels are far too close to not be noted.

Whichever way they go with this, I think this may be a turning point for Bioware, and possibly the game community at large. Fans are putting two and two together and realizing that as consumers, they have a say in matters and don't have to just accept what is given, like the game journalism sector seems to believe.
Still, hoping Bioware learns from Coke and decides to listen to what is being said, instead of ignoring all criticism and only listening to positive feedback.

While initially I wanted to say that the soda market of the 80s and the video game market of today are too different to compare, I'm probably wrong on that. Not a big economics guy, and the similarities are too many to ignore.
While the commodities themselves are disparate in their constitution, the marketing strategies employed follow the same guidelines.

I would say if it is the definitive ending, was intended to be the total utter end of ME3, then its more like the Fonz jumping the Shark.

You need to put the paragraph about the later studies into the OP though.

"Coke spent a considerable amount of time trying to figure out where it had made a mistake, ultimately concluding that it had underestimated the public impact of the portion of the customer base that would be alienated by the switch. This would not emerge for several years afterward, however, and in the meantime the public simply concluded that the company had, as Keough suggested, failed to consider the public's attachment to the idea of what Coke's old formula represented. While that has become conventional wisdom in the ensuing years, some analyses have suggested otherwise."

Interesting post. As I've said before, April will bring with it the tidings of Bioware's future as a company. It's a step up, or slow painful fall down. Not to be extremist, but that is what this whole thing stacks up to.
Essentially, yes. They're at the precipice of defining their company for the future.
