The gesture certainly gained our attention both with its creativity and deliciousness. However, while we do appreciate that fans were creative in how they expressed their views, after a lot of discussion, we decided ultimately the reason that they were sent was not done in the context of celebrating the work or accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team. This is a subtle, but important aspect in determining how to pass the feedback to the team.
No one else noticing this? Nobody else at all?
This translates to me as: "Yes we are listening. But if you have any feedback that can be construed as negative, or anything other than praise, please don't bother. But we're still listening."
I sense a complete disconnect here between BioWare & their fans.

Yes. To me, this seems a clear statement to me that they refuse to acknowledge or admit to any actual problems with the ending.
Glad they gave it to some kids rather than throw it in the garbage, at least.
Because there was nothing wrong with the endings, that could be why.
Still stuck in the denial phase huh?
Nevermind m8 that'll pass...

I think irony would be a rather delicious word at the moment.
Bioware was given three choices...
Blue, Red, or Green and guess what!
They picked a fourth option.
Now Bioware all we ask is for our fourth option...
Indeed!
True!
But talking seriously, they did the best thing they could do. They understood the message and gave the cupcakes to children that will surely love them. Don't read too much into their statements. He didn't want to say they will only accept "praise and glory". He in fact said that they got it, we didn't like the RGB choice. I think eating the cupcakes and just saying "thankyou" would be way more rude than giving them to the children. If they did that, it would look like they didn't care at all about the criticism.
But I think would be nice if at least the Doctors and Mr. Hudson had eaten (or at least held in their hands) one cupcake each and took a picture of the scene, with a statement that they understand our point.
Anyway, message sent and received, cupcakes going for the children... I guess it's a win.
Bioware took the HAPPY ENDING instead of RGB.

Why are some people upset they gave away the cupcakes to charity? You do realize they cannot all eat 400 cupcakes. The point is we got our message out there, and in the process some kids got a sweet treat. Win/Win.
Nobodies upset they gave them to charity thats great, it's the backhanded PR statement they don't like.

And there it is. Retake failed once again to try and look good in the public eye. You guys could atleast hide your plans before being exposed before they even work lol

That's just irony. They were offered three shades of "all your work meant nothing"... and demanded a fourth option? My goodness. They understand why the ending was broken!
That, or they haven't noticed that while passive-aggression is personally satisfying, there's a reason PR professionals eschew it. My money's on this option. ('But they started it, sending us their passive-aggressive cupcakes' may explain the response... but it's still not a competent handling of the situation).

My apologies if I came off offensive. I'm not trying to, but all I'm saying is that they should have handled this better.
No problem. I do agree that the PR statement could have been written better. It's still quite vague.

We don't know what the intentions were, you are correct.
Can you imagine them having to eat four hundred cupcakes though?

Actually, with the new information that the ending was predicted in ME1, it makes more sense. So maybe it's not me who's in denial.

I really doubt it's got the message through to then on just how badly and thoroughly they screwed up with the endings though. But by this point if it hasn't already it's never going to, or at least not in time for them to save Mass Effect.

Some people were expecting a video of them eating all 400 and a free ending DLC tonight apparently.

Donating the cupcakes was fine - a good gesture, really. Had they said 'it was more than we could eat, so we had to donate' - simple enough, true, good PR. Saying 'the cupcakes weren't celebrating the game so we gave them away'?

If we give them a bunch of crud for this then we'll become just like the silly media folks who accused us of using a charity for our own purposes rather than giving to the charity.
Cupcakes went to kids. This is not a bad thing. Focus on this. It's good. Y'all done good.

They just took your cupcakes and tried to use them for their own good PR, which is why they told Game Informer about this and didn't just tell people on the forums. They wanted to make sure as many people as possible knew that they were "cool guys" who donated the cupcakes to kids. Using your money and foodstuffs in an attempt to draw public favor.
And yet, expect major gaming sites to pat them on the back for it while they spit on us for donating to charity.
