I'm actually kind of upset that they didn't take our cupcakes. Not that I paid for them (I was all set to chip in money....I was too late), but the rejection of our gift is kind of brutal. I thought of it as kind of a joke to them, but still a gift never the less. (>.<)

You can like the endings all you want.
But to declare that there's nothing wrong with them is objectively wrong.

Its your opinion that you think they;'re flawed, like its my opinion to think they are not.

Ever heard of the Golden Raspberry award for the worst actor in a motion picture?
Who would ever accept such an award with humility and good humor?
Ever heard of an actress called Sandra Bullock?

I can't say I like their responses implication that the only way of expressing reactions to Bioware should be through obsequious grovelling, but at least they are taking the criticism onboard... I mean they will 'Clarify' the ending for those of us too dense to understand it. lol

Don't forget Halle Berry after Catwoman. It's called class and Humility. And it earns you tremendous amounts of respect.

This is Art. You can't argue with the Bakers artistic integrity.

If you don't like the cupcakes, too bad! You are whiny, entitled consumers! You have no right to request them to change their art... even though you paid them to make them a certain way...

Anyway, it's good that some kids got them. I just hope to god they haven't been tampered with by some irate fans.

They have literary Reviewers basicly tearing the ending(s) apart. To suggest there is nothing wrong with them is rather uninformed.

I'm fine with this. The kids got a nice treat and Bioware kept that part that was actually important. The notes.

Personally, I think it was the right thing to do. They are right about how the intention of the cupcakes wasn't a congratulatory gesture - so the developers shouldn't get the cupcakes.

And now the developers get to see the yummy cupcakes and a clear message saying "didn't do the endings right, NO CUPCAKES FOR YOU!"

To be honest, giving them to charity seems to be in the spirit of the original Retake Mass Effect message too. Rather than seeing it as a spit in the face, I see it as Bioware being respectful of the intent of the protest and not wasting the gesture.

So why don't we all calm down and keep being civil rather than trying to find implied offence where there probably isn't any?

Can't believe they gave them away because they weren't to "celebrate" their hard work? Yeah, I'm done with BioWare.

Perhaps we should all "donate" our copies of ME3 to our local game store.

Did you honestly think they would accept them? At least they donated them, and didn't throw them away like some thought.

Come oooon, they could have at least kept 1 box. You should be able to accept criticism even if you don't agree with it. It's just sh*ts and giggles, anyway.

Too bad I didn't get a fourth option when I got an ending that didn't celebrate my hard 'work and accomplishment' in ME3. It's a subtle but important aspect in determining my satisfaction with the game.

That was a good one. ^^

I think, they should have just accepted the cakes and tell us, that these were delicious treats for those hard working BW-Employees, that are working on a solution for the Fanbase instead of the PR Bit**slap.

I don't know, how you feel, when someone does not accept your gift. In my eyes, it is disrespectful to reject it, even when it isn't the gift you want.

By not accepting them and giving them to charity instead, they make that situation exploitable for "Oh you didn't like ABC either" Jokes.

Most A-listers don't actually turn up to accept that award though. It's a rarity for a actor/actress to accept it, not the norm.

Most don't, she did and she is generally applauded for doing so.

Hi Everyone

Today,
we received the 400 cupcakes you collectively sent us through your
donations to express your feelings about the endings of Mass Effect 3.
We want you to know; we are indeed listening to all fan response and
acknowledge your feedback. We appreciate creative and thoughtful
attempts like this one.

The gesture certainly gained our
attention both with its creativity and deliciousness. However, while we
do appreciate that fans were creative in how they expressed their views,
after a lot of discussion, we decided ultimately the reason that they
were sent was not done in the context of celebrating the work or
accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team. This is a subtle, but
important aspect in determining how to pass the feedback to the team.

BioWare
regularly works with many deserving charities,  as such it was decided
that rather than passing  out the cupcakes to staff or wasting good
food, to donate them on behalf of our fans to a local Edmonton youth
shelter. We know that for the kids that have to use this facility,
something as simple as a cupcake is a rare treat and would definitely
brighten up their day.  Thank you to the fine folks at the local youth
shelter for accepting the donation and to the fans who donated the
cupcakes.

Please keep providing your feedback on Mass Effect 3, we’re still listening.

For those who said BioWare did things through GameInformer only. This was posted on BSN.

I mean, I'm probably not the biggest BioWare craze out there, and I too am indifferent about the endings. But some of these bashings are seriously undeserved.

...........(Sigh)..... some brief mentions in ME1 and a one sentence in ME3 does not constitute a "deus ex machina" ending..... It was lazy writing.

They accepted the criticism, but they couldn't accept the cupcakes cause they're basically a huge "YOU SUCK!". If you screwed up badly and someone gave you a "reward" that poked fun at your mistake would you accept it while they point and laugh, or try to make the best of the bad situation?

Seriously you cannot run around claiming that fan theories fill plot holes, and that was hardly the only thing wrong with the ending in any case.

I think irony would be a rather delicious word at the moment.

Bioware was given three choices...
Blue, Red, or Green and guess what!
They picked a fourth option.

Now Bioware all we ask is for our fourth option...

Indeed!

True!

But talking seriously, they did the best thing they could do. They understood the message and gave the cupcakes to children that will surely love them. Don't read too much into their statements. He didn't want to say they will only accept "praise and glory". He in fact said that they got it, we didn't like the RGB choice. I think eating the cupcakes and just saying "thankyou" would be way more rude than giving them to the children. If they did that, it would look like they didn't care at all about the criticism.
But I think would be nice if at least the Doctors and Mr. Hudson had eaten (or at least held in their hands) one cupcake each and took a picture of the scene, with a statement that they understand our point.
Anyway, message sent and received, cupcakes going for the children... I guess it's a win.
Bioware took the HAPPY ENDING instead of RGB.

Yes. To me, this seems a clear statement to me that they refuse to acknowledge or admit to any actual problems with the ending.

Glad they gave it to some kids rather than throw it in the garbage, at least.

Because there was nothing wrong with the endings, that could be why.

Many of us disagree with this assessment. Here are some of the reasons:

EVERYBODY and their MOMS know this by now. People are still allowed to like the endings. What is this, a crusade against the "infidels"?

Interesting.

I state that I think there are problems with the ending.

HenchxNarf replies that " there was nothing wrong with the endings."

I reply with the response that many of us disagree, with a link to a very well done YouTube explaining why we think so. Your response is to label me as being on a crusade against people who like the endings?? LOL!!  The irony....
