I'm sure BioWare is trying to spin this that "they" donated these cupcakes themselves. Stop it, they re-gifted. It's not honorable, BioWare. If they care so much about charity, they should match what Retake has donated to charity, then I'll give them kudos, but never for re-gifting.

wow. New thread low.

Your opinion, noted

In the origional post he said that the cupcakes were donated as coming from "the ME fans" not Bioware itself or something like that

Haha, thanks for catching that. I'll correct it. I didn't read this theor, just what the one guy was saying the explanation was. Thanks

You even corrected it so it's now...correct. I like you.

Funnily, I remember replaying ME1 and 2 just before 3 came out so I'd remember everything, and I read EVERY planet description in the game. So many planets with helium-3...

I have an astronomy degree, so I take my science seriously, lol. I can't believe I missed that. Embarrassing, haha

We can see it in many ways. Fans send them the endings and they didn't like them, used the fourth option. But we can't give the endings to charity. Or maybe, they don't feel like they deserve these cupcakes, so they rejected them. And they keep the messages maybe to create a big fire or to really take a look. Lots of speculation. There is no need to see insults or hate from everything they do.

I'm positive with this reaction. This is the best protest I have seen in many times and I believe that with this cupcakes, Bioware got more info and comprehension about the endings reaction. Hope they can deliver something better for ME3.

However, while we do appreciate that fans were creative in how they expressed their views, after a lot of discussion, we decided ultimately the reason that they were sent was not done in the context of celebrating the work or accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team.

This is more telling than any double speak, or "clarification" announcement, the ending we got is the ending we got. They have no plans to change it.

I think the majority is thinking more or less the same thing:
1. Giving cupcakes to charity was a good move on their part. Helping those in need is great.
2. The PR statement wasn't well written and probably should have excluded the comment about the fans.
3. The Cupcakes looking fantastic, and I am now hungry.

I still think a Bioware Cupcake Decision Banner would be hysterical.

Dunno if someone noticed, but in the first post the article mentioned that when they gave the cupcakes to charity, they also credited those who sent it.

They didn't forget to mention how they often donate to deserving charities in their statement

Anyone observed that a "vocal minority" of Bioware rejected the cupcakes? I'm sure I saw comments about additional cupcakes to add clarity and closure.

Damn I want to see a second wave of "clarity and closure" cupcakes.

And don't understand me wrong. It's very nice that they gave them to kids instead of just tossing them. I just don't thinking its worthy of any good press for them, and they shouldn't try to get any by doing it.

You said that bioware was trying to spin this to look like they donated the cupcakes themselves. How could you possibly suggest that. How. Not just from a basic logic standpoint, but morally. How. Their statement says they got the cupcakes from fans, and donated them on behalf of fans to the charity.

But I stand corrected in that at least they said it was from the fans. Still, I don't like the PR spin and them trying to make themselves look like good guys. A simple, "we received your gift but are a little uncomfortable accepting it under the circumstances, so we donated the cupcakes to charity on your behalf" would have worked just fine

I'm bummed they didn't keep the cupcakes, but realistically it did put them in a weird situation.  Giving it to the shelter was a great idea, and (just like with our donations to Child's Play) it's difficult to criticize that decision without coming off poorly.

Makes me wonder if we'd ever be able to raise money for a 'no strings attached' kind of Mass Effect gift to BioWare that would get through.  No no, not as a 'reward for bad endings' which is what I know everyone will immedately assume.  More like a genuine call out to what we've loved this whole time about the series (minus the endings).

Please don't throw things at me.  It was just wondering out loud. Image IPB

Just mentioned in another post that I stand corrected. I missed that e first time I read the statement.

I would certainly chip in for at least the "thank you" round of cupcakes others have mentioned sending to them if they do something decent with the ending or at least "trying" to do right for the fans.

Isn't it possible that so many of the BW team are still on post-release vacations that they had too many cupcakes and therefore decided to give them away instead of eating them all up?

Re-gifting is rude. If they can't eat them all, just lie and say they did. Just like when Aunt Millie used to give you those horrible sweaters. You say you love it, then never wear it, or quietly donate it charity. You don't give it to someone else right in front of Aunt Miliie, because she would get offended.

Logic win

Gonna say no, since they'd still need people there to work on the DLC the end placard was shilling.  Disc content has been done for over a month at least, doubt they'd let a significant portion of the staff all leave for that length of time.

See I really like that idea!!! BioWare are you listening... make a redeeming dlc ending that we love and cupcake for all. :P Seriously though I have loved ME and I really do trust BW to come through (especially since they have definetely got the message). As a developer though red vines and mountain dew would probably be a better incentive (here's your energy food for fixing this). Nothing like fixing memory leaks with spinning in the throes of a sugar high!!!

Well if thats is the fact they might as well kiss ME 3 DLC sales, and good pre-order sales for DA3 / C&C good bye. :crying:
