I think irony would be a rather delicious word at the moment.

Bioware was given three choices...
Blue, Red, or Green and guess what!
They picked a fourth option.

Now Bioware all we ask is for our fourth option...

Priceless --- we need to get something going to point THIS OUT!

1. Yay! Cupcakes.

2.

we decided ultimately the reason that they were sent was not done in the context of celebrating the work or accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team.

Is he high? If going to all this effort to amend a horrible, horrible horrible mistake isn't a celebration of all the good that was done rather than chalking up the debacle as 'Yet another corporate failure, time to move along.' than I don't know what kind of celebration he could possibly want.

3. Yay! Cupcakes.

So basically because they knew it was us making a mockery of there poor writing skills on the ending they flipped it into a PR stunt to make them look ethically better.

Of course they weren't sent praising the team. Doesn't mean we don't care.

But, they gave them off to a charity. I'm not sure I could say the same about 400 cupcakes. So +1 for BioWare.

If they do retcon/fix the ending to an ending we all like do you think maybe we should send cupcakes again to say thank you? :P

Not a bad idea, but lets cross that bridge when we come to it.

I love how Bioware was faced with 3 decitions and opted for a 4th. I'd like to be able to do that aswell Bioware, thanks. Giving them to charity was a good choice though.

I find it so funny that people don't like their statement... What the hell were you expecting? A "thank you very much we'll eat them as compliments to our work"? The message got through loud and clear. Furthermore, the cupcakes got in the hands of people that will enjoy them for their sweet flavor, rather than it's bittersweet for Bioware.

Congratz to them for donating it to the shelter. Good to see the cupcakes ended in a great place.

Some people never stop amazing me...

It wasn't enough that Bioware gave us a crappy ending to Mass Effect.

Now they're presenting 400 unfortunate children with the same choice between three colors.

Enough is enough, Bioware.

I choose to take this as Jagri has stated.

You donated the cupcakes to a youth shelter? Awesome. class act.

...can I have a fourth option, too?

Were you expecting them to look stupid afterwards?  And here I thought that the cupcakes were to lower the tension...

Its Great that they gave them to Charity!

But the Reason for it is sort of, fingers in there ears..."WE CANT HEAR YOU"

I mean seriously? You just got given 400 free cupcakes, and you gave them sway becasue they where not sent to celebrate ME3?

BUT THEY WHERE.

Its pretty clear that everyone thinks ME3 was pretty perfect up untill the ending, the gesture of the cupcakes where to celebrate the game, the way they where preesnted was to pull attention to the ending.

Actually, Stanley Woo once stated in a post here in the forums that they can't be bribed (aka: "convinced") to change the ending.

It would make sense that they would send this somewhere else.

If they actually accepted the cupcakes and ate them, then it would be sort of a symbolic message that says "bribe accepted." Well, that's at least how I see it.

Well, it figures. WE can't get a 4th option, but even THEY reject the 3 options they gave us. Ironic.

Why is everybody so upset? It wasnt celebratory! It was a way to get in touch with them and show them how bad they f*cked up! They recieved it. It got media attention. Im pretty sure every single guy there knows why they got those cupcakes and what they looked like. Actually Im happy they rejected them this way:
First they didnt DESERVE those delicious cupcakes in the first place. And it seems like they understood that and have enough integrity to act accordingly.
And second they didnt throw them away but gave them to kids that actually DO deserve them. And hopefully they will enjoy them.
I didnt see anything untrue in their response to the delivery and I think they for once did the right thing ... then again you can only fumble so often ... they had to do something right sooner or later

Good and appropriate perspective, I think... at the same time, I don't like the PR doublespeak part of what they put out.  If they took a chance to be honest and real, I think they would be pleasantly surprised.  We feel like we've been betrayed by a close family member, they are acting like a corporation.  Ultimately, corporations are meaningless without people.  People are all that matter in this life.

If they put out pictures of them eating the cupcakes, with a note saying, "we're sorry, we're fixing the ending, and thank you for the cupcakes" ... that would have been an unnecessary act of humility worthy of Christ himself and they would have most of us as fans for life.  But, as it is, just more PR/CYA/Attorney-advised games from EA/Bioware.

Wait, why did they really give them to charity? Did BioWare assume the cupcakes were poisoned or something? Oh my god, they're trying to poison those orphans!!

The gesture certainly gained our attention both with its creativity and deliciousness. However, while we do appreciate that fans were creative in how they expressed their views, after a lot of discussion, we decided ultimately the reason that they were sent was not done in the context of celebrating the work or accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team. This is a subtle, but important aspect in determining how to pass the feedback to the team.

No one else noticing this? Nobody else at all?

That's the first thing I noticed. I'm disappointed. My hope was that the cupcakes would serve as "game content creation fuel" -- no such luck. I'd wonder if it was due to caution due to possible poisoning, but they gave them to a youth shelter...
