Great that you donated it Bioware folks. Kudos to you.
However, by choosing an option other than the 3 presented to them, they disregarded our desire to end this event the way we wanted and infringed upon our artistic integrity.

Bioware: These cupcakes were not given in offering to our immaculate and flawless game! These cupcakes insult our artistic integrity...send them away!
At least kids get to enjoy them.
They worked really hard on the game, and put a lot into it. Into all three games, really. As a result, they get sent cupcakes not to congratulate them for any of the multitude of things most fans agree they did right, but for the one supposedly negative thing we can't seem to stop thinking about for five seconds.
And yes, it's good that kids got to enjoy them. And you didn't see any Bioware employees asking for their cupcakes back because they mistakenly thought that donating them would guarantee them better cupcakes.
I get that, and I don't think they made a bad choice.
At the same time, I wish someone sent me cupcakes every time that I screwed up a painting. Om nom nom.
Even I gotta admit they did look delicious. Even if they weren't chocolate. Unless they were and I just couldn't tell. In which case they looked mega-delicious.
Or...what? Stick them in their pants?
As Doctor Bob Kelso once said, "I like them warm."

I propose a follow up cupcake campaign:
1. We donate all of these cupcakes to a shelter somewhere or an orphanage , what have you
2. it's another 1000 dollar quick campaign
3. We promise the kids 16 different flavours
4. We ACTUALLY GIVE THE KIDS 16 DIFFERENT FLAVOURS
BioWare did a good thing by giving their cupcakes away . But just like they did to us , they gave away the same flavour cupcakes .
Why don't we show them that this is what it feels like when kids receive 16 different flavours to choose from ?
Win for the kids
Win for Retake
And the message of Retake with this one is not "oh hey , we are giving to charity look at us"
It's "Look at how much 16 different flavours is really so much better and we're SHOWING that by feeding kids for free"
Therefore the message will have NOTHING to do with a 'game should have a new ending !' but rather "hey kids , would you rather have 1 flavour or 16' ?
I'd donate to this.

The genius part is the cupcakes were all the same flavor. No matter what color frosting you choose, it all tastes the same!

Anyway, I do hope that the feedback reached them somehow? Chris statement sounds a bit like it was just turned away by the CM-team right away, without actually being shown (much less eaten) by the Devs.

My interpretation...However, while we do appreciate that fans were creative in how they expressed their views, after a lot of discussion, we decided ultimately the reason that they were sent was not done in the context of celebrating the work or accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team. This is a subtle, but important aspect in determining how to pass the feedback to the team.
Bioware didn't feel they deserved to be rewarded for failure in the eyes of the fans who sent them the cupcakes. They didn't pass out the cupcakes because it was done out of fans being upset with the product. It wasn't a gift for a job well done, so they gave it to charity...

It's an epic idea but I feel a bit bad for the dev-team... =( Most of them did a fantastic job and this mocks them pretty badly.
I didn´t see it as mocking. I felt it was unusual way to say "thanks, we still love you and the game",the point which tends to be bit of lost in the massive discussions about ending. At least that was my sentiment and I believe I am not alone, who thought that way.

This is EXACTLY what Bioware was saying in their statement. It surprises me so many people read ill-intent into Chris's words. The company recognized the cupcakes were a protest so did not eat them because they were not intended as a treat or reward. Wasn't Bioware getting the message that this was a protest in response to the ending the whole point? I imagine there would be fan outrage if the statement read, "We received cupcakes because our fans loved our work on ME3 and so we ate all of them, yay!"

Truth...this post has it. I'm still monstrously pissed at the endings, but I'm starting to feel more than a little sorry for the rank-and-file at Bioware. The ending wasn't their fault, they just worked to specifications, yet they're getting whacked all the same.
I'd feel pretty rotten if I was one of the grunt (pun intended) programmers at BW receiving one of those cupcakes TBH
