I don't know how I feel about this. On the one hand, it's good that a bunch of kids at the youth shelter are going to be recieving these cupcakes. At the same time, their reasoning for doing this seems to be a slap in the face to us. Anyone else feeling this way?

I feel the same. It's very frustrating.

I really despite the people that think it was a "nice" gesture by mocking them and sending them cupcakes in different "color/taste". If you were an employee, you wouldn't really be eating it with joy, you'd be eating something that people despise, and it's really a negative act made from whoever baked those cupcakes and whatnot. (Or well, ordered)

I fully respect Bioware for giving them away to charity, rather then make their own employees eat them. It's despicable and downright embarrasing to part of a community that would so such an tunnelvisioning act.

Really downright mindboggling. How can anyone in their right mind even believe this was an nice gesture is beyond me.

It's a subtle "Here's your ****-up in a eatable-state".

The gesture certainly gained our attention both with its creativity and deliciousness. However, while we do appreciate that fans were creative in how they expressed their views, after a lot of discussion, we decided ultimately the reason that they were sent was not done in the context of celebrating the work or accomplishment of the Mass Effect 3 team. This is a subtle, but important aspect in determining how to pass the feedback to the team.

No one else noticing this? Nobody else at all?

I did. Still thinking on it. I don't see how it took 'a lot of discussion' to figure out that the cupcakes were a tongue-in-cheek way of reminding them that we hate the endings. I think the message was receieved however. Maybe not as loudly as if they had fully accepted the cupcakes, but I can't find any way to complain about them giving the cupcakes to a youth center. That part did warm my heart.

So even when ME don't donate to charity, they still end up donating to charity. :P

To be fair, the cupcakes were essentially a slap in the face for them as well. Good to hear some unfortunate people are going to get a tasty treat.

PR at work again...refuse the cupcakes thereby basically refusing the criticism then donate them to charity so nobody can complain without looking like an ****.

Or maybe i'm just a big ol cynic.

Kind of ironic. We protested by giving to charity. They just did the same thing.

So homeless children receiving a treat is less important than what.... Bioware munching cupcakes and....??? This was a classy move and as cheeky as the original idea.

I think irony would be a rather delicious word at the moment.

Bioware was given three choices...
Blue, Red, or Green and guess what!
They picked a fourth option.

Now Bioware all we ask is for our fourth option...

nah not irony

This is a really creepy bit of corporate double-speak, by the way.

Haha, that's kind of justice. I bet they were thinking the same thing about the Childs Play thing: "On the one hand, it's good that a bunch of kids are going to be recieving the money. At the same time, their reasoning for doing this seems to be a slap in the face to us."

Symetry. Nicely done BioWare. +1 Artistic Integrity

Well, at least needy children benefited from this.

I know as a kid, I was always happy to get a cupcake. And while I wasn't rich, I wasn't poor either.

Bioware played the donators. Not only they dismissed the cupcakes and what they stood for, they also gave them to charity so people can't complain about them.

I speak of the part where they turned the cupcakes away. I wasn't ever expecting them to accept them in the first place.

Yeah except anyone who attacks them for giving to charity will of course be a jerk, whereas everyone and their mother was justified taking shots at us when we donated to childsplay because we were lolspoiled and dragging children into it as a shield.

And here was Biowares response.

Today, we received the 400 cupcakes you collectively sent us through your donations to express your feelings about the endings of Mass Effect 3. We want you to know; we are indeed listening to all fan response and acknowledge your feedback. We appreciate creative and thoughtful attempts like this one.

BioWare regularly works with many deserving charities, as such it was decided that rather than passing out the cupcakes to staff or wasting good food, to donate them on behalf of our fans to a local Edmonton youth shelter. We know that for the kids that have to use this facility, something as simple as a cupcake is a rare treat and would definitely brighten up their day. Thank you to the fine folks at the local youth shelter for accepting the donation and to the fans who donated the cupcakes.

Please keep providing your feedback on Mass Effect 3, we’re still listening.

THEY TURNED THE CUPCAKES AWAY.

You mean ... they created a 4th ending?!?  ;)

Serriously though ... cool response. I am really hopeful about the April announcement, and nice they did not let the food go to waste.

The reasoning for them turning away the cupcakes is kind of... I don't know. But I don't care really either, the homeless children deserve them more. :)

No, they picked the happy ending.
I thought happy endings weren't artistically integral!
