I have spoken to Liara on the Presidium Commons. However, after leaving and returning, side quests and Priority Missions, Aethyta is still not on Appolo's cafe.
Matriarch Aethyta is nowhere to be found

She's only there before you do Tuchanka. It's not mentioned in most guides. Haven't checked when she becomes available, but that is also not right away as you get access to the Commons either =(

she can only be found if you go to the citadel inbetween actually unloking the commons and cureing the genophage

Thank you both but I read that Aethyta only appears if you have already spoken to Liara in the Commons. However, Liara only invites Shepard to speak to her on the Citadel after the Coup.

She's in Apollo's Cafe before the coup. Speak to her there as soon as you can visit the Commons.
