Kaidan or Ashley to live? Garrus or Liara or Kaidan to romance?

In my main file I play as a female, because I am a female, paragon, because I am a goody-two shoes, romancing Liara. I saved Ashley in ME1.

Currently I'm thinking of redoing a playthrough of ME1 and ME2. I never had Kaidan alive in any playthrough nor romanced anyone but Liara.

Didn't have much time to play in the past.

So, to people with more playing experience with Kaidan and Ashley - which should stay alive? Is the Kaiden storyline better than Ashley throughout the games? Or am I not missing much?

And, which is better - Garrus or Liara to romance? I guess Kaidan could be a choice too.

No spoilers please.

I think Kaidan has the better friendship path in ME3...if that's important to you.

For romance, I prefer Liara...her ME3 romance is awesome and you have the LotSB stuff too.

Kaidan. He has a great romance. The romance scene is very well done also.

Kaidan for friendship, Liara for romance :)

Be wraned though, with Kaidan you will not get any of the banter/argument from Gabby, Ken, Adams and Tali(her banter with Garrus in the engine room) at all since it's bugged.

"Better" is subjective so prepare yourself for some very biased answers (mine included). I'm working on a PT with a surviving Kaidan, so I don't know much about his romance in the third game. I've heard good things about it, though.

I am heavily biased toward Garrus, though. If you want deep-voiced, loyal, and badass masculinity, look no further.

I agree! I think Liara has the most complete romance arc and probably the best overall. Ashley has some good moments, but there really isn't much (friendship) content with her :(

Samantha is also a choice.

Romance Ashley. Her romance scene is possibly the sweetest thing ever.Posted ImagePosted Image

Best FemShep romance is Garrus. Once you go Dextro, there's no going... something.

I'd save Kaidan, romance Garrus. That my personal favorite femshep combination.

Fixed, thanks.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts as well, giving me alot of choices.

>.< Hard t pick.

I want to stay playing female, so Ashley romance is not a choice.

Kaidan is bugged? Hmm, maybe by the time I get to ME3 it'll be fixed? Though, iono if I want to risk that. I like the banter in the game.

Yeah, its a bit annoying, not game breaking, but annoying. There are definitely a few good moments you miss out on, but you could always do another playthrough with Ash as the VS.

Kaidan or Ash: for me it depends who you think your Sheaprd would forgive most easily (or wont forgive, if you dont want them back onthe Normandy during ME3)

Romance:
Kaidan if you love a good guy, wanna see your Shep get redemption for hanging with Cerberus and a sweet sexytime scene
Liara if you enjoy girl on girl action, support, and a bit of good girl gone bad
Garrus if you like badass, and want lots of support and adorkable romance dialogue. The big sexytime scenes are more of less left to your imagination tho

So there you have it.

Specifically the banter in engineering is bugged and will not trigger.  The banter in the rest of the game is fine.

I understand that you get a great deal more interaction with Kaidan than you do Ashley, regardless of whether you romance him. Apparently the Ken/Gabby dialogue is bugged for any romance other than Ash's so it doesn't matter if you're playing FemShep who you go with on that score.

Whichever combination you go with, I find Kaidan and Garrus to be the two best people in FemShep's life. If your romance choice is between Garrus or Liara I'd definitely go with Garrus. I may still be bitter about Liara's ninjamance in ME1, though.

I always liked Ash better than Kaidan in ME1 (preferred her combat too) so most of my save files have her alive. Surprise I like Kaidan much more than Ash in ME3 so now I regret it.

The Kaidan romance is very well done and the thing with Garrus is "cute". Both are worth doing.

For me personally, the Femshep/Liara romance is the finest in the series (especially if you add in Shadow Broker). Play them all and enjoy!

Well, I love Garrus to bits but I don't think his romance works as well as Kaidan's.  He's more Shepard's best friend, to me.  Kaidan is definitely more passionate, if not more supportive.

How is Liara if you don't romance her, still good friendship? I only ever romanced her.

Eh i guess it all comes down to personal taste but for me i like that Garrus' romance has such a solid friendship to build upon.
While the relationship does begin as a "friends with benefits" thing it definitely becomes more emotional by the time the romance scene in ME2 starts. And in ME3 it certainly qualifies as a proper romantic relationship with lines like "one-turian kind of woman", "The worst part about the galaxy going to hell would be never seeing you again" and joking about adopting Krogan babies when the war is over showing both Garrus and Shepard are in it for the long haul.

Plus the date at the citadel is awesome for friendship or romance.

As for Garrus being supportive, the relationship is very supportive for both characters, with Shepard asking how Garrus is and about his family and comforts him, Garrus also checks on how Shepard is doing heaps of times, on the citadel, after Tuchanka telling her to get some rest and after Thessia he comforts and hugs her.

Another thing which i like is the number of times Garrus actually makes Shepard laugh and cheers her up, which considering how depressing ME3 can get at time is nice.Posted Image

Guess it all comes down to individual opinion, they are both good in different ways. Heck if you have enough time i'd recommend giving both a shot and doing 2 runthroughsPosted Image

Oh and yes Liara stil has plenty of good dialogue and scenes if she's just a friend.

That was rather my point with the supportive comment.  Garrus is wonderful for Shepard.  Their Citadel scene was fantastic and just what she needed!  I just don't get the vibe from him.  Obviously, that's just me.

I'm also not a Liara fan...at all.  I don't trust her in the least and her instant obesessiveness creeps me out (only to be compounded by secretly arranging my resurrection by human-centric terrorists because she can't accept my death and then being revealed as a manipulative, dangerous puppet master first on Illium and then as the Shadow Broker).  Erm, I'll stop, now.

Kaidan if you want a sweet sexy realistic romance.
Garrus because he's freakin Turian batman.
I've only done Kaidan and I enjoyed it. (Just realised how dirty that sounded :P) I wanna try Garrus in ME3 because I romanced him in ME2 on another playthrough, but Kaidan is just so hard to resist.
I'd say go Kaidan in ME1, Garrus in ME2 and then decide who you like better in ME3.
Just whatever you do, don't bother with Jacob or Thane unless you want disappointment...

Well if you are the type that does multiple playthroughs ... but it's entirely your choice. You can also look up the videos on Youtube if you want.

I've never taken the romance subplot with Garrus because I just don't want to. But I have watched them on Youtube and they were sweet. Still I don't want to romance Garrus.

It's really up to your choice, and you are not, relatively speaking, missing anything. After all, this is your save.
