So it seems that you can upgrade the Warden Commander armor's material simply by sticking it in the storage chest in Warden's Keep, zoning and then taking it back out...
It's a touch random, but it appears to work.
Has anyone done the same with the Helm of Honnleath successfully? Mine is still made from grey iron...
Can you upgrade Helm of Honnleath from Stone Prisoner?

the good news is that even with grey iron material its +3 armor bonus makes it provide more armor than any dragonbone helm in the game.
