The particle beam is good, but the revenant is even better.

i use the damage increase and the wall penetration ones. i wouldnt do the magazine upgrade because i dont think their AI would take advantage of it,

I thought the same until I noticed my squaddies making green puddles with very large particle beams.
IOW, I do believe that ME3 magazine upgrades benefit squad members even though they didn't in ME2.

I think the better question is; Particle Rifle or Revenant?
Particle Rifle > Everything. Its DPS once charged up appears superior to all other ARs in the game. Add in a piercing mod and cover becomes a detail rather than a defence. Add in an ammo power and hey presto, melted enemies.
The Rev is good but can't keep up with the PR's DPS.

I've never bothered with the piercing mod because I've always used the Chakram Launcher, leaving the squad to melt anything else in the way.

That is actually too bad, because I personally don't like the PR all that much. Guess I'll give squaddies Revs, as it seems to be the second best choice after PR. Javik can keep his PR though.JaegerBane wrote...

Particle Rifle > Falcon > everything else
the Magazine Upgrade mod works with your squadmate (fully tested with a Paladin)
best mod for Particle Rifle is... Magazine Upgrade + Piercing Mod, making enemies cover (even Guardians) useless, add it with a power ammo + weapon damage passive bonuses makes Insanity difficulty so pathetic!
btw the weakness of PR is sheild and barrier, but with a lil' help with Overload, Warp, Energy Drain, etc. will do the trick, u can just watch your squadmates melt Atlas, Brutes, Banshees in a pile of goo!

I generaly just let Javik keep his gun since it is "his" afterall and he's used to it.
Me, James and Ash? We're humans, we like to see projectiles come out of our guns

How do you guys get your squadmates to actually charge up the PR? When I equip my crew with it, they only use it to plink enemies with single shots, instead of a continuous beam. Is it still better than the Revenant and Falcon when the user doesn't ramp up the continuous beam damage?
Maybe try telling them to focus on single enemies? I haven't had too big of a problem with this regardless of which weapons you give them. It's one thing that is massively improved over ME2. I still remember the first time I realized how much more effective squadmates were in ME3: a Centurion was approaching Liara's cover when she leaned out and emptied an entire clip from her Hurricane into his face and immediately hit him with a Singularity.

Lol, well said.
At any rate, I'll have to give the Particle Rifle. I'm still stuck in the ME2 mindset, where squadmates are most useful for their powers. I've been giving my squadmates the lightest weaponry available to maximize power use.

Oh, for real?
WHAT AM I DOING?
Bogus. Okay. So I've been forcing half of my squad to carry around the Vindicator for no reason at all then. Sigh. Time to make some changes.

I personally have a taste for beam weapons and I generally find the Particle Rifle offers the best compromise between fielding a battle rifle and an assault rifle, which is obviously not what the Revenant was intended for, so it may be worth keeping that in mind when deciding what to give to squaddies.
If you're after something that's fully auto and allows sustained firing then yeah, the Revenant will likely be the next best thing to the Particle Rifle. The Phaeston might be worth looking into though its not up to either weapon in the DPS stakes.
