Does the game notice if you're a pro-templar mage?

I've been thinking of doing a playthrough where I'm a mage that supports the templars, since that discrepency could be interesting. Does the game ever call attention to it though? Do any characters confront you on how hypocritical you seem to be?

I have played a pro-templar mage. I remember Anders commenting on it a few times. He specifically said to Hawke "but you're a mage!" And I believe he talks about it when he gives you his manifesto. But I can't remember if any other characters talk about it too. I don't think they do.

I played a pro-templar/chantry mage in my last playthrough. I was slightly disappointed. While Anders does mention it, I felt like it was largely ignored. I was particularly disappointed that the game never game me an opportunity to address why *I* didn't/wouldn't/couldn't become a part of the Circle given my support of it. Really, the game makes more sense in general when Hawke isn't a mage.

Anders and Meredith mentions it, though it's mostly a replacement of the "BUT YOUR SISTER IS A MAGE" line.

Given the relative lack of mage specific dialogue and plot events in the first place, that this combination was not given a lot of time is unsurprising. As you say, it would be incredibly hypocritical of Hawke to be a pro-Templar mage, surely that would involve turning him/herself in!

It makes a little more sense if you have a mage Hawke that is narcissistic, ie 'mages can't be trusted except for me because I'm special and can control my powers'.
