Thanks you for answering. I'd like to add that even thought I'm not that good at the english langage, I'm actually impressed by the dialogue bits. They seems to top most of ME3's writing quality, and I'm not exagerating out of spite for Bioware... Really, I'll keep coming back for more Marauders comics !
Thanks, I'm actually never sure about the dialogues before I publish them and read the comments on DA, they are my compass whether I'm doing it right. ^^ Seems to be going quite well, truth be told.

I never post on DeviantArt, but I've been following the comics for a while and I'm continually impressed by the awesome art, the writing and the level of detail and thought that obviously goes into each one. Thanks Koobismo and team for an incredible work of fandom - this will forever be part of Mass Effect for me.
Thank you, Aetheria! Doing our best.

Heard a lot about this but never expected it to be this good, read them all in one sitting.
Hope it gets picked up by someone for publication!
As long as it keeps getting picked up by Mass Effect fans, I'm happy.

@Koobarex: Thank you so much for your extraordinary work. I've been following it for months now, and it is the only thing at this point that manages to tap back into my well of love for this franchise.
This is phenomenal material that truly captures everything that I thought was missing from Mass Effect 3 (and the heartbreak of its ending). These are the characters I remember. And the beautiful audacity of making their unwillingness to flee the centrepoint for your telling of the tale was a masterstroke.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
(And I have to give innumerable praise to your sly pop cultural references too (Firefly, Battlestar, etc) you have some taste. You have some gorram taste and some mightly fine talent.)
Keep on flyin'.
And I will just bow low and get a bit giddy.

If anyone's interested, here's my take on Leviathan DLC: http://koobismo.devi...t.com/#/d5d7f66 - personal opinion and analysis only, so no need to hunt me down with a pair of scissors in your hand if you disagree.
Okay, now I have not only to thank you for your magnificent story-telling, but also your staggering critical capacity. Your article/review of the issues with 'Leviathan' (and by extension the larger game narrative) is literally the best summation of the breakage of the narrative at the end of Mass Effect 3 I have read since the game was released (and I have scoured and consumed a great deal in my efforts to try and rationalise my fathomless loathing of those final ten minutes).
You perfectly articulated why I have been unable to return to any of the games since seeing that finale play out; and you struck the beating heart of what so repugnantly twisted the universe I loved into a shade of its former beauty.
I mean, of course...
Of course, it had to be...
That emotion that has driven every narrative that has ever meant something to we precocious little creatures of flesh; that ever gave breath to our silly, but surprisingly resilient beliefs. That fire that has burned with us since we first stared out into the immensity of an existence that seemed far too vast to comprehend – a universe we tried to compartmentalise with myth and legend and fiction...
Obviously, it was always going to be hope.
Forgive me for quoting you, but I have scarcely read words so true:
You are so perfectly, heartbreakingly right: the seismic shock of that final, repugnant end, being forced to rob the universe of the very freedoms that allowed it to yearn and dream - to fight to live not merely survive - ultimately devastate any capacity to return into that narrative, to the falsehood that lies at its core. One could argue that the solutions presented by the StarChild grant you some kind of hope... And one would be wrong. The very philosophical themes of the ending indicate that nothing matters, neither in the past (all choices become invalidated), nor the future (everything can be invalidated once again, by another godlike creature with an even stupider plan - these are the new rules of the narrative). Your hopes, presented to you over the course of the narrative, were false - this is why it stings so much to return to the previous games, this is why replayability gets murdered by this finale. Let me emphasize this... The crucial emotion of Mass Effect was HOPE. Believing in a positive outcome fueled by your efforts and sacrifices, which is invalidated retroactively. You can hide away the "it's about the journey" asspull - how can you take the same journey again, how can you hope again, if you know that it's just a lie?
For now, the only place that I can find that sensation is in your spectacular work, in Marauder Shields, where the characters have not yet given up their fight – not abandoned the principles and luminescent hope that has always made them grand. It is a belief so immense that it has now carved out a whole new universe, free from the contamination of the old, and authors too blinded by their hubris to appreciate the vulgarity of their thematic betrayal.
And it explains why (and I am not ashamed to say this), after the Extended Cut and all its disappointments rolled out, I choked up to see the banner rallying-cry with which you signed your latest release:
'FUELED BY NOTHING BUT FAN LOVE / MASS EFFECT LIVES ON'.
Absolutely goddamn right it does.
And for that I cannot thank you enough.

Reading these comics leaves me with a mixed feeling. They're absolutely awesome, but that the same time they remind me how much I cared for this franchise just when I was trying to convince myself I really didn't care any more... By the way, some of the voice acting of those audiobook chapters is just amazing. At times I can barely distinguish them from the real voice actors.
I'm actually pretty proud of the fact that a lot of people seem to treat my lil' comics as a coping mechanism, bringing them back to Mass Effect. I'm loving the universe, despite the endings, and I'd like people to stay around.
Oh, and before I forget: here's a teaser of our newest episode, 33, coming this week! Check it out:

I'm gonna say that if Garrus was never in the ME universe, there would be no way I would do another playthrough of ME. Almost at the IFF in ME2, and loving it. I plan on using the MScanon once i hit the end of the game, and skip the EC.

As for my sly popcultural references... I'm a nerd, what can I do.
Enjoyable read, that review. It nailed most of my issues with it, as well as issues with the end of the main game. So many logical inconsistencies that fall apart the second anyone with half a brain puts them under even light scrutiny.

Engrosing as always, I'll say again that Marauder Shields somehow managed to reaffirm my love for Mass Effect. I'd love to puchase a graphic novel of the collected story - any plans to roll something out on completion?
Koobs will need to clarify this, but he's confirmed that he wants to eventually produce the comics in fully-voiced audiobook form. Selling it would be out of the question I think - from what I know you aren't allowed to sell fanfiction. There would need to be some sort of deal worked out where BioWare would get a cut of the profits due to their IP being used, which I would not exactly bet on despite the endorsement several BW employees have given.

Sure. Well, even if a conventional 'purchase' is out of the question, I'd be happy to make a paypal donation in the event he manages to put something together. I'll watch this space (thanks for responding).

Thank you, Drayfish. I'm usually a pretty outspoken and babbly person, so it's good to share a few thoughts now and then... Especially about the topics and experiences I care about. Glad you liked it. I do feel my analysis rings true with a lot of people around... We just want our hope alive.

I do want to make sure that this is indeed our guiding emotion in MS, I feel that's the way to reconnect to what Mass Effect was before, before the StarChild narrative, and thus to finish it off with a blast.

No money is involved, nor will be involved with this project at any point, at least on the earning part (I do spend a bit to get all the materials I need for it). Our endgame plan is to have a three-part product in the end - a comic book, an audiobook and a motion comic (video comic with voices and music). All available for free of course - it is and will be a product of fan-love and fan-fiction, no matter how big it's getting.

You can always join up and help us out with some costs, like obtaining the licenses for the music used in audiobooks - but, as said, no direct payment connected to the series can be made from people outside of the team, we don't want any legal problems and we want to make sure that we're making this out of our love for Mass Effect, nothing else.

I read it and it sums up the problem I've had with the endings in three simple words. I also enjoyed the content up to the appearance of Levis fully expecting there to be just one and resembling a proto Reaper with Collector-like skin armour. Having them there and not alone made me wonder "Why?"^_^Koobarex wrote...
