I think the thing I like MOST about the art/story is that it shows everyone else who has fought with or been influenced by Shepard stepping up to the plate after he/she goes down. Adopting Shepards indomitable will in his/her absence or memory, inspired by Shepard. I love the idea of Team Galaxy pulling out a win not because Shepard pulls off some Superman s**t & delivers it to them, but because Shepard inspires them to never give in, and never surrender.
Hellz yeah.
edit: the comic might go in another direction later w/ Shepard being the focus again, and that'd be ok too

Okay, we all know and love Marauder Shields.
It started as a joke, then became a running gag. Now... I was reading these, and I think I'd like them to be fricking canon, because they've become downright AMAZING. Cdr. Bailey with an eyepatch, taking back the citadel, closure for characters, epic fights... hell, even Marauder Shield himself is implied to be an old friend.

Go there. The first couple are joke comics, but starting from Number 6 on upwards, it turns into a story. Props to the writer/artist, and I think we should all encourage him to continue with this. It's honestly very good, not just funny-good.
I support Marauder Shields.
That is horrifically cheesy... yay for rainbows and butterflies

These are awesome. Seriously LOL at Bailey with an eye patch leading an insurgency on the Citadel. Like the Cylons before them, the Reapers will learn not to **** with the XO.
Yes, that made me LOL too.

Is that Kirrahe holding the line? Thats briliantly moving.
Yes. And yes, it is.
Shepard delivered the tools for victory to the united galactic forces. Now it's up to them to use them. Brilliant.

The story told in these comics is excellent. But it's nothing that thousands of other Mass Effect fans with some background in writing couldn't do, as well. I don't say that to denigrate the author (who is awesome), but to make this point:
How could BioWare's end product --written by paid professionals with ample time and resources-- fall so far short of this comic, which one guy churned out over the course of a couple of weeks?
The writers aren't idiots. They didn't suddenly become incompetent, after writing the genophage and geth endings, which are on par with these comics.
What happened is this: it became solely a question of money. Of meeting a shipping deadline. And as a consequence, what they produced for the ending isn't "art." It's the opposite of art. It's a "well this is good enough" placeholder designed to get a commodity out the door by an arbitrary date.
There were, of course, people who disagreed -- who wanted something superlative, not just passable. But they knew it wasn't what EA wanted to hear, so they kept their heads down. And we got what we got.
