Shepard hijacks Harbinger
Shepard uses Harby to destroy all the other Reapers
Shepard and LI have their wedding on Harbinger. The End.

on a serious note: what we were promised, multiple endings. Ranging from Shepard dying a "deep, thought provoking death" to Shepard having blue/half quarian/half turian/human babies and having a beer with Garrus while looking at a dead Reaper in the ocean.

The Catalyst turns out to be just a normal weapon.

After a discussion with the Illusive man you make him commit suicide(or shoot him yourself).

Then you take the Crucible and blow the Reapers to hell.

After the galaxy is saved, you get as a dying request/idea from the Illusive Man, the renegade choice to use the Crucible to make humanity the sole rulers of the galaxy.

Then you get a story epilogue where you see the result of all your actions (What happens to the krogan depending on your choices, geth/quarians, council etc, OR how the univers turns out under human rule).

After all answers have been given, credit rolls and you can walk away feeling happy :)

I see two ways I would like the ending to go. I prefer the second one, but the first might be preferable to some people.

1. Weaken Reapers with Crucible, then fight them conventionally - high war assets = Shep and crew live. Medium assets = Shep dies, crew lives. low assets = Shep and crew die. Very low assets: lose against the Reapers.

2. Crucible is a Reaper trap. It either does not activate, or does something negative when activated, forcing you to destroy it.

In this scenario you have two options:

A. Fight the Reapers conventionally. Very high war assets = Victory. Crew lives, but Shep dies. High war assets = victory, crew and Shep die. Medium War assets = Victory, but Earth is destroyed and Shep and Crew Die. Low War assets = loss.

B. Detonate the Sol Mass Relay. This would obviously destroy Earth entirely, but would have a better outcome for the rest of the Galaxy. High War assets = Shep and Crew live. Medium War assets = Victory, Shep and Crew die. Low War assets = Victory, Shep and Crew are killed, along with Anderson and/or Hackett. Very Low War assets = failure to detonate Relay, Reapers win.

Honestly? Would love to see a happily ever after ending with LI (and little blue children) and an epilogue detailing what happened to all the other squad mates, eg do Tali and Garrrus stay together etc?

But in all honesty I'm happy with what Bioware gives us as long as it ties up the trilogy. Small plot threads I don't mind so much, more so I want to see what happens to squad mates and other major characters.

They need to either kill Shepard off, or show that Shepard retires and lives happily ever after to finish off their story. Or make ME4 with Shepard, which I could get behind :D

If it were up to me, the whole moving Citadel plot would be erased. There would be battle for it, but player actions / choices regarding Citadel defence force would influence the outcome.

TIM's and Kai Leng's story arches were ended on Cerberus space station OR
TIM's story would had ended on Citadel during the battle for Citadel. Player choice would influence towards if there is two front battle on Citadel vs. Reapers and Cerberus aiding the Reapers, or just Reapers / severely weakened remains of Cerberus, basically TIM's last command might be self destruction, which of course wouldn't work ( :-D ) but instead of organised force Cerberus troops would fall in state of husk.

Battle for Earth. Much like we see, but the beam would lead into the Dark Space, there must be counterpart for Citadel anyway, which Reapers use to enter in galaxy in usual circumstances.

The Crusible: Not something player sticks into Citadel but sort pulse weapon, similar to EMS. It's been hinted in the novel ME: Retribution that Reapers rely heavily on nanomachines, Reaper nanides in game lore. Instead of EMS, using Crusible would emit a pulse that causes Reaper nanides to become more or less malfunctioning depending of player choices regarding war assets used towards Crusible.

Star child, could be made work, but I won't go to that in this post. I just use default.

Available player choices.

If Citadel is practically lost (control over relay network) and Crusible is lost,
 - Destroy Reapers, and pretty much everything else in galaxy by exploding Relays as last desperate effort.

If Citadel is not lost and galactic races have decent fleet and Crusible is at least somewhat done:
  • Destroy OR
  • Use Crusible resulting galactic fleet to win the battle in Sol but still with awful cost, but Reapers in other systems are able to return in dark space. Husk problem remains in systems Reapers used to occupy and taking planets, areas on planets costly.
If Citadel is not lost, galactic fleet is very well in fit to fight, Crusible is almost complete:
  • All the previous choices with variation
  • Using Crusible would mean clear victory for galactic fleets in Sol, almost minimum losses (they still use ships against Reapers before Crusible is used, how many depends of how many are there). Most systems occupied by Reaper forces also become free of husks. AND
  • Merge, that would practically be a trick, Reapers way to avoid the war that is turning way too costly for them.
If Citadel is not lost, galactic fleet is in top condition, Crusible is complete:
  • All the previous options, with variations, clear victory in Sol, husks in every system practically fall in their place where ever they are, because their nanides simply stop working. etc.
  • Control option becomes available AND
  • Destroying all Reapers in galaxy in similar manner as Reaper fleet in Sol and husks.

All these could be played with helluva many different variations.

[2]-Destroy Ending (L?/D)

AFTER Shep destroys the conduit -- Shep wakes up knowing he just fought off harbinger, see's the beam, runs to it, fights his way to the top, opens the citadel, and the crucible docks and "Boom" all reapers around earth die... Then they take the rig around and do the same thing... killing reapers where-ever they lay with more story about people trying to sabotage the crucible, the reapers rising back to power and other lesser species being uplifted to help in the battle.

The final battle should include harbinger and his cronies and a hand-to-hand fight of timing missle launches between the laster strikes of the 3-4 reapers.

After everything Shep has been through, I want the option to just take down the Reaper shields. Those kinetic barriers they have are what make them so damn tough. To give the massive alliance the chance to tear into the Reapers the way the Reapers have been tearing into them for the whole game... Cathartic.

The Crucible should weaken the Reapers and then they should be defeated and I want something of a bitter sweet ending. Billions of people died, Planets lying in ruins, but the threat is dealt with and the races can build anew, to beginn a Golden Age of peace and cooperation.

And Shep should better be building that house for Tali!

And if you don't want a happy end, then just choose something else.

My desired ending? Well ... An ending where you can CHOSE based upon your choices you made from ME1 till the end. Simple as that. A happy ending, where Shepard lives, reunited with his crew, LI and so on. An ending where the Reapers win ... ME 2 gave me the possibility. Why not ME3?

Edit: I did everything in all 3 games to gain the best ending, the happy ending. I want a reward also in ME3 for doing so.

Edit2: In ME3 I hear every time: You Shepard are the only one who can make it possible. In fact with the current ending I CAN nothing. That's sad, I think. Just if my crew lies to me, just like Bioware did obviously.

I want an ending where I can tell glow boy that I have known at least two friendly synthetics and that we can achieve piece without his intervention and then:
1. Have an option where I can destroy/shutdown the Reapers and Glow Boy, without killing EDI and the Geth
2. Shepard can live or die. I don't really mind Shep dying if it was for something he/she actually stood for, in case of my paragon femshep that being galactic diversity(I find synthesis contradicts this), galactic cooperation and self determination(I find all the ending contradict this).
3. Maybe not have Joker flying away without explained reason?
4. And how about a epilogue, it doesn't need to be anything grand it can be some still images over a voice over, just let me know what the hell happened to the rest of the galaxy and my crew. Tell me how my decision and renegade/paragon alignment effected the galactic politics and peoples outlook on humanity as a whole. Was trusting the Geth or curing the Genophage a mistake? How did the galaxy recover form the mass relays exploding? Or we can also not explode them and lose that plothole entirely, I just want some sense of closure.

I've always felt that the biggest flaw with the endings we got was that they completely wasted the potential creativity of branching story telling and variety. There where just some many things that could have been done, like the an easter egg worst possible ending.

Say you collect the fewest amount of war assets possible and then try to retake Earth and fail miserably. Everyone dies along the way, all the ships you brought get destroyed as does the crucible and you don't stop the Reapers. We flash forward to an epilogue set 50K years later and we get a cutscene of an some new alien species (i don't know say four legged snails with tentacle arms) exploring the ruins of Earth only to be interrupted by a human shaped Reaper rising from out of the ground, the vanguard of this cycle's destruction.

The pay off for this? One we get to see the absolute worst case scenario, two for unlocking this ending say we get some bonus war assets that get applied to all our other playthroughs from then on. Add a breif text message saying something like "Archeologists have uncovered a fragmented recording of previous Reaper invasion. The haunting images have shown the galaxy what could happen if the Reapers aren't stopped and driven up enlistment."

How's that for some wildly different endings?

For my "canon" Shepard:

Hard to get but "happy" (sort of, considering the billons of deads already before the end) ending :
- Reapers killed everywhere on Earth (not just for London, but the rest could be only cutscenes) thanks to the Superweapon and tons of EMS
- Ceremony of victory and mourning (if Shepard is dead, it better be very very moving and well done, with all the crew giving speeches)
- Citadel and Mass Relays NOT destroyed
- Blue babies (or a house on Rannoch for Talimancers of course, etc...)
- Epilogues about the crew and the species (each depending on my decisions in all three games. Were did thoses "hundreds of variables" go ?), not only on how they defeat the Reapers but a glimpse of their future as well. Could be text (with awesome music. Remember DA:O ? It had wildly varying endings, meaning a huge replay value).

(and no space child, nor an illogic and contradictive explanation of the Reapers' motives. No fleeing Joker, and no jungle planet)

Simple. Logical. And alike the rest of Bioware games. Thoses who are happy with the ending as it is can ignore the DLC.

My full Renegade Shepard (the one who said at the end of ME 1 "when I saw an occasion to get rid of the Council, I took it") could, I don't know, leave the galaxy on the verge of another galactic war (once again, *full* Renegade. All. The. Time. He simply could not pick other options, I was in control.) after the Reapers are gone.

And my "Looser Shepard" (that's his name) could have an ending were the Reapers win, or a pyrrhic victory. Oh wait, that's what we have anyway.

God, I dreamed my perfect Bioware-like endings once again. They are not at all in the game. This hurts me (since when did Bioware became Gainax Studios ? This is an outrage !).
