y'know like they did with DA2, fixed everything people hated in origins but forgot to add everything people loved about origins

Right, because everyone had the exact same opinion of Origins

lol missing the forrest for the trees just to make a poor sarcastic comment? i dunno bout that one, you could've tried harder, what would your parents think?

But tht pointlessness aside the other worse thing bioware could do with DA3 is RECYCLED DUNGEONS~! good grief did that suck the joy out of DA3 oh and pointless, under developed charecters who get thrown into the main plot way to late aka Orsino

Here's my worst potential nightmares for DA III. If any of the list below make it into the game It would seriously compromise my enjoyment of the game, some of it might even be a total deal breaker, stopping me from purchasing it.

'Mandatory' multiplayer option, required in order to get the best possible ending, a'la ME3.

No mod support, or ability to use custom mods - Dragon Age without mods is simply unthinkable.

Intrusive DRM, such as Securom.

Additional simplification, 'streamlining', of mechanics / additional convenience, instant gratification "every mutton click has to do something cool", or any other form of cheapening, gimmick-play or dumbing down. DA II already set the franchise upon the dark path of 'attempting to appeal to a wider target audience', I don't want to go any further in that direction. Origins shamelessly catered to RPG enthusiasts and was a huge success, DA II attempted to 'broaden it's appeal' and cater for the 'casual' CoD/Faceook gamer crowd (who are assumed to have short attention spans, and no patience for complexity), and so suffered dire long-term consequences as a result.

Decreased choice and flexibility, increased rigid pigeonholing of class roles, inability to remove equipment, reduced customisation of characters etc. If I want to play a Rogue who wields a two-handed sword and wears heavy plate armor I damned-well SHOULD be able to do so if I choose, even if it gimps my character! Limitations of choice and rigid adherence to templates are absolutely no fun at all. One of the most dire things about DA II (for me at least) was my character's total inability to remove their weapon, meaning my Mage Hawke had to walk around with a huge, unwieldy staff at all times, even when relaxing in the Hanged Man... thank God for mods!

Lack of choice. I obviously want to be able to make decisions in crux areas, not be railroaded, or made to feel my choices don't matter. DAII gave me the constant impression that nothing I did mattered, as events were scripted to unfold the same way regardless of what my character did. I don't like this loss of control. I also want the ability to resolve situations peacefully in ways that don't involve endless combat.

No day-1 DLC (yeah, like that's gonna happen).

Proper scalable graphics options for PC, high res texture pack, and fully customisable controls/interface

Combat to be danged-well slowed down, and made more realistic. No more silly over-the-top animations, or impossible combat moves.

And finally... an end to spawning waves of enemies. Didn't like that at all.

I'm stuck between not making the game, mandatory multiplayer, and reduced player agency/choice (i.e., lots of autodialogue, canonized OGB, uncustomizable protagonist, etc).

The worst thing that could happen to DA3, in my humble opinion, is that they make it as some kind of "refined" Dragon Age 2.

Worst thing to happen in DA3 is to have a horrible story that goes nowhere and isn't funny or touching. Or replace Darkspawn with sad clown figurines.

Already proved and said they will not be doing that again, proof was in the DLC's and they've said no more recycled areas.

Probably the same thing they did with ME3.
1. Have multiplayer tie in with singleplayer (they's deffinitely going to be a multiplayer)
2. Advertise different endings only to get one
3. Advertise "Save the world from itself" storyline only to get "stop the dragons from killing everything) storyline.
4. Making decisions in DAO and DA2 obselete.
5. Adding a Diana Aller's type character (not needed in the first place)
6. People who you killed in DAO AND DA2 reappear having faked their own death.
7. Stick us in one location like Kirkwall (if you're a remarkable warrior you don't stay at home, you go out and mark your territory)
8. Get the character involved in action sequences rather then stand there looking a derp.

Rushing it out the door like DA2 and ME3 before it's really ready. It's one of the reasons why I'm not that irked about DA2 DLC getting cancelled if it helps the quality of the final product.

Remove real choice. If my decision is shown to have the same impact regardless of the choice I made (a problem seen even in Legacy with the same ending regardless of who you sided with), then I'm being railroaded and it feels like the story is being forced along. In Origins, we got to make huge meaningful decisions like choosing the rulers of Orzammar and Ferelden. We did not necessarily see much of the consequences unfold, but that made sense due to the shorter time span of the game's story, and when there were immediate consequences, those were showed (such as getting different armies based on who you sided with in the Circle and Dalish quests).

1. Pre-set protagonist
2. Re-use the same caves over and over and over...
3. Limit the setting to one city
4. Turn it into a romance simulation
5. Level scaling
6. Incorporate massive amount of voice-acting dialogue (not necessarily bad, but more is not always better. Look at BG and Ps:T, both fantastic games)
7. Turn it into a hack n' slash RPG
8. Release tons of needless worthless DLC-content that nobody really wants but a few poor weak souls will dish out money for.

Oh, wait....

I don't want to HAVE to play multiplayer in order to avoid an everything is destroyed ending.
I don't want to spend a game building up a relationship with someone just to have them either dead or millions of miles away.

Those are the two things that have stopped me doing a second playthrough of ME3... and it would really ruin my DA3 experience.

keeping the one race one backround would suck

This 1000%, in DA origins we had 3 races and 7 backgrounds counting 2 human, 3 elf, and 2 dwarf. In DA2 we had ONE and ONE.

1. less tactical & more "hamster on coffein" combat.
2. even more "streamlining". (DA2 was 1 to 2 steps tooo far)
3. every (or nearly every) party member being a LI and making it less distinct.
4. including multiplayer and having it have an impact on SP game.
5. "Open ending"
6. "mages are good / chantry is bad" theme.
7. "ending that makes me feel like I had no input in it"
8. not admitting "issues" are present when they are obviously there
9. worse "fan communication"
10. hiding behind artistic integrity

Is it an issue against ALL Day 1 DLC, or is something like Shale/Stone Prisoner acceptable, and it's only the idea of something like From Ashes that really bothered people?

I object on principle to "Free" Day 1 DLC, because it's a transparent device to deprive the consumer of their right to resell the game they purchased.

But I lack the moral fibre to stand up for that principle when it doesn't cost me any money, so there isn't all that much reason for Bioware to pay attention to me.

Not the "worst" thing, but my enthusiasm took a significant dive upon learning that the mage-templar conflict is apparently going to be front and center again. Choosing between two sets of flawed zealots is not my idea of fun. It's too small, too dull. Epic heroism, please.

-Make multiplayer mandatory.
-Give us an unsatisfying, nonsensical ending.
-Make the mage/templar thing too black and white. Such as Templars=evil and mages=oppressed innocents. Or Templars=noble defenders and mages=power-hungry lunatics.

Also, please don't make us play a human again! Choice! Choice is wonderful.

having crappy endings, for example, siding with the Templars end with a world where Mages are oppressed forever, siding with the Mages ends up in a world where Magic is out of control and everyone lives in fear forever

I've always wanted to ask something, might as well be in this thread since it's been cited many times: why do people hate EA's Origin so much? I've never had a problem with it...

There's many reasons. Note these are not necessarily views I share, and are not necessarily accurate, but they do represent a common mindset among many gamers:

-If you dont log into your Origin account for 2 years, it is disabled and all of your purchased items are void

- Privacy concerns: The EULA is considered by some to be quite disturbing, and worryingly vague in many ways - There's an implication that Origin can and will scan files on your hard drive, and report these details to various third parties.

"You agree that EA may collect, use, store and transmit technical and related information that identifies your computer (including the Internet Protocol Address), operating system, Application usage (including but not limited to successful installation and/or removal), software, software usage and peripheral hardware, that may be gathered periodically to facilitate the provision of software updates, dynamically served content, product support and other services to you, including online services,"

"EA may also use this information combined with personal information for marketing purposes and to improve our products and services," the section continues. "We may also share that data with our third party service providers in a form that does not personally identify you."

- Some Steam users feel that Origin has been imstrumental in preventing some EA products from being available on the Steam platform, possibly allowing EA to fix prices independantly.

- Some users regard Origin as quite buggy, and poorly designed.

- Many people dislike EA in general.

I see, thanks!

The worst thing would be... re-using too much levels/maps!

I know this has been debated to death, but I want to point out something given the developers interviews (even recent ones): they seem to blame the re-using on the fact that DA2 happened on the same city, which is not really the point. There was no design decision in re-using the same areas for different
hideouts, for example - that was due to lack or misplacement of development time/resources. That's because it was not just using the same textures, but the actual level/map (rooms, enemy spawning points, etc).

Likewise, designing a game (DA3?) in which the player goes to different regions of the world will *not* automatically (or necessarily) make the re-using problem go away. Having the same dungeon in both, for example, Orlais and Tevinter, would be just as bad (or worse).

But, if you must re-use some areas to increase content (by increase, I mean in order to have a bigger content than DA2), then do it with just the side quests, keeping the main quests in unique areas.
