It's an amazing game. I walked out of this game, despite the dissapointment with the finale, as a bigger Bioware fan than at the start.

Honestly it is the most emotional I have ever gotten with a game, and got me very excited about the potential of the medium in a way that I haven't felt since I was a lot younger.

With that said, bad ending.

exactly. I feel the same way. With each new Mass Effect game my love for the franchise has doubled.

Lets just hope that all of this bad ending drama can be fixed

Yes, overall I did.

Some little things here and there bugs me, but I enjoyed it very much, especially the chapters on Rannoch, and we did that "Tron" thing with Legion (oh man I miss him, or "it").

The ending is depressing, but I am ok with it, sort of (hey, it's war afterall)

The Ending aside, I'd give ME3 B at most. There were a few issues which I didn't like:
- timing of certain missions
- not that many dialogues, especially with your LI: I was expecting that when you romance someone, you are presented with more and unique dialogue options available only then
- some reactions of squadmates, especially that after Thessia - everyone cares only about Liara despite the fact that it is Shepard who at first is presented as at least depressed; even their LI did not talk to him/her about that, which is unnatural
- enough EMS for the optimal ending can be earned only after playing multiplayer or purchasing "Infiltrator;" I despise multiplayer so there's no chance for fulfilling criteria for optimal ending by me
- James Vega, why isn't he a romanceable character?
- Jacob Taylor, from a righteous man became somewhat... "promiscuous" without proper reasoning

I very much enjoyed the game (ignoring the ending).

It wasn't perfect, and I think that comparative scarcity of proper side quests (not just scanning sidequests), fewer squadmates, and a bit more linear story gives it lower replay value than ME1 or ME2. With replays it becomes fairly apparent that the story doesn't deviate much from it's set path even with wildly divergent choises made by the imported character you use. Also the Journal was bizarrelly bad.

But the writing was excellent and the meetings with old companions brought a smile to my face every time (Jack and Mordin being my favorite encounters). The story (up until the ending) was excellent, and there were elements that were done better than ME2 (bringing back some of the customization from ME1).

If you cut away the Ending, there are just two things that really bothered me:
-The non-interactive dialogue without the dialogue-wheel, also known as "zaeedified" dialogue.
-Too many functions on one button.

So, ignoring the Ending, these are the only two things, that kept the game from being perfect for me.

I'm so tired of tooting Bioware's horn by letting them know how we enjoyed 99% of Mass Effect 3. It's been done, and all their PR talk can ever talk about is the "positivity" on that front, and addresses the outcry of the ending rendering all that enjoyment null as being a "vocal minority". It's absolute nonsense and it already seems very clear to me they're "aware" they did good on most of the game... that should not be an excuse to dodge the other feedback.

Loved it. Only thing I remember not liking was the mission tracking. Come on, ME1 and 2 had perfectly fine tracking, why change it to static texts. Also got a bit annoyed with the constant disk swapping. Broke the immersion somewhat, but I can deal with that.

Other than that I was squealing with joy every few minutes up until the last 15...

Edit: Just remembered Diana Allers, thank god for the option to remove her from the ship. Her VA was the worst in the entire trilogy and her looks are so uncanny valley.

I truely enjoyed the game, yes there are some things I missed, but how the game flowed it would be hard to bring them back

I will admit these are things I really missed:

- Kal'reeger, I hoped to meet him in person with that last stand of his.
though he did go down as he lived: fighting.

- Miss Wong, I kinda hoped for that interview with her.

- I missed some dialog options, but easily forgiven since it IS the final part, so most decisions are already made.

- Readiness rating, it is cool to attach this to the multiplayer, but would have preffered it to be optional and that during the single player it would be possible to get this rating up.

What I did like was the Tuchanka missions, the missions on Rannoch. the feeling you got from them was awesome! also the scanning and running away from the reapers was pretty cool. I was always checking that meter and felt my blood rush through my body when they came rushing towards me when I tried to pick up that final asset.

It would have been cool though if you could have some kinda of space battle to "clean" up the sector to reset the meter.

The customization and upgrades of the weapons were spot on! not too little and not too many.
With the Ashes DLC you also got some extra skins for your companions, some of them were really awesome.

What I hope to see in a DLC is that some of the scan missions are "extended" for example wher you save the Shadow Broker Wet Team. It would be cool to land on the planet/ship or whatever and have a (timed?) mission to fight your way to them and extract them.

Or to recover an artifact, where reapers/cerberus/mercernaries try to stop you.

Ofcourse I think it should be optional: like if you did not do the mission you just get the item as normal, but if you did do the mission you get something "extra" in the form of cash, an upgrade or bonus war asset.

I have been asked if I could recommend Mass Effect 3 after I reached the end yesterday at night... and I came to one conclusion:

Yes, fully. Never the less I would recommend to stop at the question, if I still need to prepare or if I want to blow the horn for attack.

I loved the game in alot of ways. Sure I would have enjoyed more interaction with Jack, since I picked her for my romance and since that choice only was seing her via intercom shortly before the last battle.

Other than that, Bioware has shown that they can keep up with a story, and story interconnections and player decisions and character interections over 120 hours total playtime. And that they are able to do it in an almost perfect way.

So, ignoring the ending I have to say:

Thank you Bioware for great, dramatic, philosophic and enjoyable further40 hours of Gameplay.

I think the game is great, but I REALLY dislike the ending. Anyway I thought the Rannoch missions were absoloutely amazing and probably the ones I enjoyed the most throughout the whole series.

the ending was the best and designed for those who understand it, not those who have to use youtube or other opinions because they dont
if you do not have a deep understanding of things metaphysical or of the origins of the galaxy, it wasnt designed for you to understand
i am not trying to be rude, but most people who you run into everyday will not understand this game
if it was for the "average", there would not be so many posts by....i dont know what you call these people and their acting out

bioware, stay awesome
those who DO get it support you thoroughly
those who dont, feel very left out, as they would in life, and they will CONTINUE to buy the future installments, despite their suggesting that they will not, simply because they are hard pressed to master their own struggles...like all sheeple, they will endlessly chase their tails

Well I found the lower number of squadmates much better. In ME2, 10 or 12 squadmates was really insane, especially when most of us used two or three and others were just sitting on Normandy doing nothing. Well except Mordin who actually had a work there.

It was quite good, but the worst in the series. Galaxy completely scaled down; no hub worlds; neutering of dialogue; non-responsive team-mates; the 'awesome button'; no real consequences to your actions over the previous 2 games; rejection of ME2 squadmates; appallingly token-gesture side missions; cliqued wave combat; non-updating journal.

Yes, I've been enjoying it very much though I have some (quite serious) reservations about some things. But there are epic moments too: the resolution of the Turian/Krogan/Salerian situation was classic ME, for example, and very satisfying.

Well, gameplay-wise ME3 is still nothing of an RPG, I still have to do all the shooting no matter if I'm not a soldier and my squadmates are, forcing me to still have to do the shooting. So to me ME1 is still the best gameplay wise. The game is heavily railroaded. I don't like having banters instead of dialogues. I don't like how the quest are given, and how they are now in the journal. Auto dialogue killed roleplay so I'm not able to recognize my Shepard anymore.
Actually the story was pretty good, and that's what kept me playing, until the ending destroyed that too.

To resume and by on thread (so ignoring the ending), I played only for the story.

More or less. However, certain things did still bug me.

1. Removal of Neutral Dialogue

2. Disturbing amount of auto-dialogue

4. ME2 romances kinda got a kick in the quad.

6. Lack of Adam Baldwin. I ****ing LOVED Kal'Reegar, so it broke my heart when he died offscreen.

8. Lack of Batarian Squad Members.

10. Jessica Chobot... nuff' said.

11. Tali face reveal. I mean, no face would've been better than photoshopped face.

This! Also:

I) Seemingly random and unneccesary recast of Mordin Solus (seriously, why?)

II) Lack of dialogue with the VS, and Ashley's redesign

III) Awesome button with about a dozen functions.

IV) Removal of weapon holstering (although it didn't bug me as much as I feared)

V) Lack of returning side characters like Gianna Parasini. Also: Emily Wong killed off screen via Twitter!? Stupid.

VI) Face import fail. Just inexcusable, even more so seeing how it is (not) handled and commuicated.

VII) Galactic Readiness system. MP and SP should not mix. Especially with the lack of war assets to achieve every ending without MP. And the commuication about it.

VIII) Origin

edit: forgot something

IX) Bad transition from ME2 to ME3, as well as the whole opening sequence.

edit again: one more thing

X) The journal. How do you **** up something so simple that badly?

But yeah, I did enjoy good parts of the game.

@TheRealJayDee: Mordin's recast was not random. There were rumors that the original VA, Beattie, was demanding a higher payment for his role, which Bioware was not willing to comply with, so they hired someone new. His new VA did an excellent job trying to recapture Mordin though, so I was not angry.

I certainly did. The ending just destroyed all narrative cohesion; before the space kid, I had a blast.

Agreed... tho' the side mission could be better - scanning a planet for war assets, purlease!?!?
