@TheRealJayDee: Mordin's recast was not random. There were rumors that the original VA, Beattie, was demanding a higher payment for his role, which Bioware was not willing to comply with, so they hired someone new. His new VA did an excellent job trying to recapture Mordin though, so I was not angry.

I suspected it was not random. But since we were never told anything about it from Bioware, and have been told numerous times from Beattie himself he wasn't even contacted about returning it just seems rather fishy. The payment rumours are just that, as far as I know.

The new guy did an okay job, yeah, but as long as I'm not presented a good reason for a recast it simply pisses me off and lessens my enjoyment of the character.

I agree with most: wonderful game, may be the best.

Grievances are only two-fold: the roll/croutch/all purpose button & the constant disc swapping (XBOX) are poorly designed. Beyond that (and gasp, including the ending) I was extremely pleased.

Great game overall but flawed (not counting ending as desired).

Graphics and gameplay pretty good (too much was stacked on the space bar with PC game - it causes unpredictable/undesirable results in combat).

Voice acting solidly improved over all before.

Dialog too linear, too automatic, less controllable as in ME2 and ME1. Don't go with autopilot! This is not "Uncharted". We are not passive viewers, we are supposed to be ACTIVE participants and even writers/directors.

Nice, fast loads between levels in Citadel though I wouldn't mind the walking over vast areas that smoothly blended together as you did in ME1.

Didn't like the accidental/incidental eavesdropping REQUIRED to get really weak side missions.

Journal was a jumble with side missions (nothing but a bunch of ping-and-probe missions, no exploring ala ME1 or even ME2 with the Hammerhead) piling up and not letting you know when or where to complete them. Merely passing by a conversation without actually listening would sometimes stick a side mission (ping-and-probe only!) in your Journal. I'd have to wander aimlessly around the Citadel repeatedly after missions where I found something to see if I would stumble upon whomever stuck me with the mission. Suckage.

Characters returning from previous games given way too short shrift (except Miranda and Mordin).

I developed the assumption while playing my one and only ME3 playthrough that there would be DLC that likely included the Hammerhead (up-armored as per the convo with Cortez in the Normandy Hanger early on) - plus the many systems that had Reapers in them on the galaxy map but no way to get to those systems. Assuming the end is fixed/redone and thus the game becomes replayable, I would be happy to have good DLC so long as it isn't just a bunch of ping-and-probe goofiness.

the ending was the best and designed for those who understand it, not those who have to use youtube or other opinions because they dont
if you do not have a deep understanding of things metaphysical or of the origins of the galaxy, it wasnt designed for you to understand
i am not trying to be rude, but most people who you run into everyday will not understand this game
if it was for the "average", there would not be so many posts by....i dont know what you call these people and their acting out

bioware, stay awesome
those who DO get it support you thoroughly
those who dont, feel very left out, as they would in life, and they will CONTINUE to buy the future installments, despite their suggesting that they will not, simply because they are hard pressed to master their own struggles...like all sheeple, they will endlessly chase their tails

Stormloader, I am fully capable of understanding the ending.  ...And inserting correct grammar into my sentence structure.

That is not the issue.

The issue is that I (and a whole heck of a lot of other people) HATE IT ANYWAY.  If I wanted to be reminded of my insignificant place in the universe and the philosophical ramifications thereof, I would just continue my normal everyday J.O.B. routine.  I play Mass Effect so that in some small way, I can be more than that. I shall now quote myself. “…if the ending I'm stuck with IS actually the ending that I'm supposed to have, yeah sure.  I understand what was being (or trying) to be said.  And it would be terribly tragic and beautiful IN ANY OTHER MEDIUM but NOT IN THIS VIDEO GAME FRANCHISE BUILT UPON PLAYER CHOICE AND SELF DETERMINATION.”
http://social.biowar.../index/10782034 that’s the whole spiel there.
Please disagree with my views.
Please don’t insult my intelligence.

Yes, it is a little choppy, both in gameplay and story telling (some holes), but, with the exception of the ending (which is terrible), it is a great game.

It was a phenomenal game. I enjoyed a large majority of it and could argue it as my favorite of the series. However, I did not like the lack of dialogue with the VS aboard the Normandy, especially when mine was also my LI. Ambient auto-dialogue was fine, but I think it was a little over implemented. Other than those two things and requesting for more clarity on the ending, I'd say it was a marvel.

ME3 had everything I love from a BioWare game...though it didn't succeed with the character development part :-/

But overall? YES!

I can get over the ending if the just say what happened, that said I'm still a fan. Bioware has stated from the beginning that Shepard's story was going to be a trilogy and no more, I've always hoped that ME would go on (forward no stoopid prequel bs, but actually forward), even without Shepard. I dont want Shepard to become an ambiguous parody of the Master Chief. If the franchise is going to go sooner or later BW is going to have to say what is canon and whats not, which would be hard to do if millions of peopleare telling different 'stories' of the same person. With the Reapers and relays gone ME gets a reset, afterall the galaxy just got that much larger and so the stakes get smaller, especially considering that 'realisticly' you cant top the threat the Reapers were. Maybe now Me can push forward with the galactic civilization trying to recreate new relays and/or the aftermath of having the fleets from half a dozen alien races stuck in earth's solar system. It'll be interesting see what comes next. Overall im still a big fan and im not going to let 1 sour ten minute ending ruin what has otherwise been an awesome ride of the past few years.

I do NOT want to derail this topic but I HAVE to say something:  "The end of Shepard's story" does NOT have to equal dead.  It does NOT have to equal permanently cut off from all friends and loved ones IF he lives.  The END of a story arc is NOT synomous with death.  It simply isn't.  That is lazy thinking and lazy writing.  It is purely arbitrary.

That is all.

I enjoyed ME3, yes indeed.
I'd have liked to have seen more interactive conversations options, and missed not having a ground vehicle but those points COUPLED with the endings did not spoil the experience for me.
And i'mvery much looking forward to the upcoming DLC and 4th gameImage IPB

Yep, loved the game overall.
Journal, horrible fetch quests, less dialogue options and Chobot didn't ruin my enjoyment of this game. I'd love to play it again actually, but I can't bring myself to do it yet.

Yeah, a lot. Could be better? Yes. Not the Mass Effect formula perfected I was hoping.

1 - Could be more polished. Lots of bugs, even on cutscenes.
2 - Import bug. Unforgivable.
3 - Auto dialog. TOO MUCH. TOO EFFING, MUCH.
4 - Neutral option. They said that in most dialog options there would be 3 or more. LIE. If you're counting 3 with the streamlined investigation/question, I see what you did there Bioware,
5 - Handling Mass Effect 2 characters. None of them perma-squadmates, not even on Lair of the Shadow Broker style 1 mission with you. No, they always have awesome excuses not to be there. And no, Garrus and Tali don't count, they're Mass Effect 1 characters. Some of them were also poorly handed, like Jacob (no drinking scene on Purgatory, promising on Rio, cheating femshep...really Bioware?) and Grunt (besides the mission you talk to him on Earth, receive some e-mails and that's it).
6 - Poorly handled war assets. I think it's self explanatory at this point.
7 - No suicide mission mechanics. I also thought that the way people enjoyed it so much you were gonna deliver more of that in ME3. Unfortunately, I was very wrong and your choices on the game barely have an impact (also on emotional level) on the final mission. They way they're handled on the game itself is very cool. You just dropped the ball on the ending...in this level too.
8 - Integration with multiplayer. Just...too much.

That's what I could think for now.

Did I enjoy it? Sure. Was it better than the first two? No.
A story's supposed to have an introduction, a main part and a conclusion. Proportionally, the main part should at least be the size of the introduction and the conclusion combined. The main part is supposed to begin when you finally assembled your crew and learned how to handle all the gameplay mechanics. Then the game should let you freely go about and explore the game universe. Yet somehow games nowadays are mostly introduction, short middle part, conclusion. Mass Effect 1 handled it just well, as you had plenty of opportunities to explore the universe (even in most of its main campaign missions) before continuing to the ending, but ME3 is really just Introduction->Turians+Quarians/Geth+Salarians/Krogan+Cerberus->Ending. You couldn't explore/roam about one single planet or space station except for the citadel. The "side missions" were laughable. Come on, it was all "Go there, scan it, come back to me".
Presentation? Except for the running animations, it looked pretty damn decent. But so did ME1.
Combat/Gameplay mechanics? It's definetly improved in smoothness. But that's about the only thing. Also, one-button-does-all is one of the WORST design decisions in any game.
Basically ME1 was a great Action RPG with admittedly clunky inventory/mako/combat control. But all Bioware had to do was to improve on it, not throw it away/trivialize it. The story was, hands down, the best of the three. It was self-contained and utterly satisfying, as well as a great opener for a trilogy. Dialog options/RPG elements/outcome of decisions also were better than in its successors. Only the romances were handled better in ME2.
ME3 on the other hand... was a decent third person shooter with dialog options and great characters.

Yes! The game is amazing. There was a lot of auto dialog which moving forward, I hope they break up more into convo choices, but other than that I truly thought this game was amazing. The over all tone was so deep and dark. I know some folks on BSN are railing BW for calling themselves artists, but you know what, they are. And this game is a super shiny piece of art.

I loved the game. It's the "heaviest" game I've ever played. Everything about it it, save the ending, is outstanding.

1) The music is totally epic and I never just listen to music scores; however, this one is on heavy rotation in my van.

2) I'm playing ME2 again and you can see how much the graphics have improved and ME2 set a nice bar.

3) The combat mechanics are great. The little additions make a huge difference. The speed gives a sense of urgency that I didn't have in the other games.

4) Multi-player. I've never played online with anyone until this game. Time melts when you play MP and it's great how it's connected to the campaign via Galatic Readiness and promotion of MP characters. GRIPE: I just wish there were more War Assets that would allow you to get an EMS high enough for the "best ending".

5) Except for Stargazer, the voice acting is exceptionally well done. ME 1-2 always had a few cringe worthy pieces of dialogue either due to how corny the line was or how it was delivered (e.g. "I accept the judgement of the justicar" just irks me and some of Shepards overtures made me think Chris Hansen was about to walk on camera). Paired with the high tension moments (e.g. Tali and Legion on Rannoch) and you forget it's just a game.

6) The GUNS! I do miss the Heavy Weapons from ME2, but they are not necessary. I love the assault rifles and being able to mod them without the annoyances from ME is awesome. You get the customization without the 1 million different types of rails, heat sinks, etc. or having to sell crap to make more room in your inventory.

All of this is what makes the current ending so infuriating. Bioware did everything right for 99% of this game, hell the whole series. Follow my football analogy: Superbowl. It's 4th quarter and you're losing. Your opponent has the ball and it's 4th and goal. Seconds left. HIKE! Their running back, the best in the league, gets the ball. The ball is knocked loosed! You recover it! You run all the way down field and collapse into the end zone! TOUCHDOWN!! YOU WON!

Now take ME3: The end of ME3 is like "winning" the game after their coach loses a challenge on highly controversial safety. You won...but now there's this darkspawn like taint over the whole game and the win because there wasn't a clear victory. What a let down.

While I love ME3, this ending is gnawing at me.

An absolute wonderful game. There is so much that they have done right with the Mass Effect series, but my favourite part has been the characters. There were so many characters I really cared about, more than I ever done before in a game. To sum it up: One of the best games ever, and best gameseries ever (in my opinion).

But then the sad part. I've been a gamer since I got my first console in 1979. I never felt so involved in a game before and I have never been so dissapointed before. I have a life, it's not the end of the world but for the moment I feel like I have this black hole in my stomage. I just can't believe how a team that made something so good can produce an ending like that.

It's not how it end's, it's the gaping plot-holes. It's the ridiculus writing,it's the feeling that it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever? For the moment I hope for one of 3 things: The indoctrination theory, that Liara's last gift was something deeper and everything after that was in my head, or that the blast killed me and everything after that didn't happen.

An amazing game. The only issue I had with the ending is the normandy, why were they travelling through a relay and not fighting? And why the squadies I picked were there instead of earth

It was a stunning game, there are certainly a number of gripes I have with it, but I can't say I didn't absolutely love it. Hate the endings with all your heart, but Bioware still made an amazing game.

(I still hate the endings, but people seem a bit to passionate about that as of late. It's all just starting to seem more offensive than the endings themselves to me.)

Game was beautiful. Every choice a hard one to make when it came between species and planets, and it was amazing.

I mean.. I read the entire Fire and Ice series, live in this world.. I'm familiar with bittersweet, sacrifice and bad things happen to good people. I knew it couldn't be a happy ending, didn't expect one.. but never expected to be left with more questions than answers and true sense of defeat no matter what I picked for my Shepards.
