I read from an unofficial source that it would be available Dec 21st.  Can anyone confirm this as true?

Guess it all depends what you consider the Holiday season.

Be glad it isn't the "Soon" you are mentioning, otherwise we wouldn't see it until sometime next summer ><

Most devs do this. They avoid announcing exact dates lest they get the public's hopes up and then having to delay the patch due to a last minute bug. The uproar of complaints and whining would be terrible to behold indeed.

I heard from a guy on the street that it had been delayed until 2013. Bummer.

Yeah, soon is as close as you'll get with most companies these days. When you make a statement of a tentative date and the item isn't released on said date, or a delay is announced people get pretty miffed. I play World of Warcraft a bit as well, and I find it amusing the the developers have gotten very secretive about everything that they're doing because even the suggestion that something might be done is seen as a contact signed in blood that it will occur. Even when an announcement is drenched in caveats from the start, it is perceived by many as an assurance that it will happen.
