Before?  Before what?  The dawn of time?

That thing hasn't worked for me for months.  I've got the whole collection of error messages, and it refuses to upload certain characters entirely.  On others, it will upload data but not pictures.  And on two, it will do pictures but not data.

I have some kind of this problem also...

It uploads all achievements and also screenshots but no sign of characters .. besides the 1 from character creator that i have uploaded manually :S

Sigh...I was hoping for an fix but it seems like everyone has same problems.
My first two characters uploaded fine, the next two had problems, the next four not at all.
NOTHING, only achievements and some photos:(
Exactly that who NOT interests me...
Ah, the two first characters stopped to upload when they reached level 20, common?
Now I have an character i really invested in and wanted to follow the whole way into awakening and he is now before the final battle but nothing here:(
I´m tired on my avatar, I demand my latest charachter!
And yes, I´ve tried to manually save, change equipment(often!), quitting and starting. But no...
Advice?

Sorry, but this is not acceptable. The first two months the staff was swarming all around in the forums to my happiness. But now when the first enthuiasm fades it is silent here?

The staff should regularly reply about the progress, give tips and hints, take interest in special cases....

Guys i dunno if its useful but if you activated the console try disabling it again, it was working before i added the console line to the .exe, after that it only showed achievements so i disabled it and its updating again.

TURN OFF THE FRACKIN' CONSOLE ALREADY!

And then learn to read.

It gets really tiresome reading 17 pages of the same bloody question because too many people first failed to read the wiki's warning regarding the console affecting profile updates and then failed to read the previous posts.

Where are the moderators on this board? The illiterate probably wouldn't have to repost the same question if the moderators would start deleting redundant posts.

Such anger!!! I have trouble getting my character uploaded as well and I DONT have the console turned on.

Accidently I found a way to get my characters uploaded. I make a save, and then INGAME I go to character profile and I upload a screenshot. When I do that my characters get updated again within several hours together with the screenshot. If I dont do that they do not upload DESPITE having no console on.

Hope this helps somebody

And, satans_karma, I´ve never even use the console. Not even turned it on. I don´t even know how to do that.

Even if my "turn the frackin' console off" suggestion doesn't apply to either of you, the "learn to read" part certainly does. Half the posts offering solutions in this forum said turn the damned console off; the other half said save manually to get the profile to upload (making the rest of Finiffa's crazy ritual/"solution" totally unnecessary). Not to mention other solutions are all posted in the FAQ provided by Bioware. If either of you knew how to read, your problem might have been solved ages ago.

Your crazy ritual boils down to exactly what 1300 other people on this board have said - save your game. Bioware's FAQ clearly states that game progress is only uploaded when you save (and from other accounts neither quicksave nor autosave count). Did you manage to get to that part of the Bioware FAQ? Or did you yet again not even bother to check that out before opening your figurative mouth? (Maybe I should just be elated that you know how to read...)

"I always make MANUAL SAVE".....as I clearly posted. And thank you, I do know the difference between a quick save, an autosave and a MANUAL save.....I also know when my profile does and doesnt update.

But since I fixed my own update problem ages ago and only was trying to help others I'm out of here. Have fun with your superiority complex.

Let me point out that you only said you saved manually AFTER I pointed out that you need to. So... uhh... not to be repetitive... but clearly your reading skills are sadly still lacking. I'd suggest you go back and reread the history before opening your figurative mouth, but such a suggestion would be fruitless.



Considering that you're trying to prove yourself superior to someone you claim has a superiority complex, what does that make you? Superior? No. Just insipid.



On a side note, where are all the moderators? Aren't they supposed to remove off-topic banter like this? Or perhaps they secretly revel in such animated repartee...

Hmm... Nope.  Turning off the "frackin" console didn't work for me, either.    Neither does Jesse van Herke's "suggestions" on page one.  My profile still hasn't been updated since sometime last January, despite the fact that I've probably made about 10 more characters since then, finished the game 8 more times, got about 15 more achievements, and made about 300 more seperate manual  saves... while equipping different gear.

So, got any other "advice" for us?  Or  are you  too busy trying to get the Moderators to help you out against  our "bad reading skills"?

Sure... lower the internet security settings on your computer and then open ports 80, 443, and 18081 on your router and firewall. If that doesn't work, try finiffa's crazy ritual. ROTFLMAO

If the crazy ritual doesn't work (which I suspect it won't), go through the no-brainer checklist:
- Is your internet on?
- Are you logged in?
- Are you logged into Dragon Age with the same Bioware account?
- Do you have the upload character profile option turned on?
- Are you getting the "Unable to connect to Dragon Age servers" error message?
- Is your console really off? ...as in the shortcut link no longer has " -enabledeveloperconsole" at the end (including the space in front)
- Are you running the Steam version?
- Are you running a pirated version?
- If you're using the character creator, did you actually push the upload character button?
- Do you have the latest patch?
- Does the Bioware servers have a compelling reason to upload your ridiculous characters (i.e. has someone visited your profile in the last day or so)?
- Maybe there's a limit to the number of characters one can have uploaded... maybe you've surpassed that limit.

The reason why I'm wondering where the moderators are is not because I need someone to help me clear out the riffraff but because there really isn't any point to asking technical support questions on these forums if no one truly knowledgeable is around to provide that support. If the lack of profile updates is a server problem, the moderators should be around to say so.

Perhaps so.

I'm thinking that what with the game having been published and all, Bioware is devoting their post game QA resources to bug fixes of the game. 

I do know that I deleted all but one of my characters from my profile a while back. The same old characters reappeared shortly afterwards.

They come back because you still have them in your game and presumably still have their upload option still turned on. My old characters stopped uploading only after I deleted them from my game or turned off the option to upload.

Wait a minute,   That's actually a  really good point.  Why didn't you just say that  from the  get-go?


No matter, though, because   it doesn't really apply to this thread anyway.  This particular thread  just happens to   feature  a few  posts from   Bioware devs themselves  (lol).    It's also got more than a dozen pages of people reporting that the specific  tech advice they've been given from these Bioware  devs on this thread doesn't seem to solve the problem.

So we're right back to square one:   you coming on here, telling us to  try what the  devs told us to try  (even though we already have- to no avail.

But of course, you'd already know this if YOUR reading skills were up to par.     Just sayin.


Edit:  As for Finiffa's advice... a truly knowledgeable tech person wouldn't scoff at it.  Instead,  they'd try to figure out WHY it works, yes?

I've not been able to update my profile as well - playing on PC.  Finiffa - I'll give your solution a try.  Can't be any worse than what's happening (which is nothing).  Thanks!

I think whats happening is that the manual (forced) upload of a screenshot triggers the upload of a (manual) savegame too. It works for me anyways, hope it works for you too.

Ummm.... I generally don't answer questions until they're asked.

First you ask for my advice; now you're whining because I gave it to you. Make up your mind already.

What's that saying? Oh yes, "Technology is only as good as the idiot using it." There's like... what... two possibilities - the Bioware server is messed up or the user is messed up. If it were the server, it would be a temporary problem like it was when the game first launched, and you'd probably see the "Unable to connect with Dragon Age servers" error message while playing your game. So with that possibility logically eliminated, I'm going to assume that the user is just an idiot. Their internet security settings are probably blocking the upload, and they're too dumb to fix it.

As for her advice... I'm NOT a tech person, so I will continue to scoff as I see fit. There's nothing new or amazing about her crazy ritual; as I said earlier, it boils down to the same suggestions that have been posted time and time again on this very same thread! The character profile updates soon after she manually saves her game as it should; her screenshots upload after she hits the upload screenshots button as they should; she can see the updates when she goes to her online profile as she should. How does this help anybody else? It doesn't... because she's "coming on here, telling us to
try what the devs told us to try (even though we already have - to no avail)."

Wrong.  Been there, done that. No updates.

But it's useless arguing with you so I won't bother. I just try to be helpfull to other people. Hope it helps someone else too.
