I can confirm that letting the game update the DragonAge.ini file fixed the upload problem.

All I did was change a game setting, save settings, and change it back. I then manually saved, and voila! Profile was updated instantly!

Had the same error. Tried this and it seems it's updated. We'll see in an hour or so. Don't really know why I care, but I do

Oh and like was said earlier; If you manually save game and then look at the upload screenshot tab, you will see that it does some updates. I guess this is the player profile updating. I tried to upload some screenshots too, it fails on the first few tries and then it seems so work pretty stable.

I use the launcher from time to time since I have the steam version whether or not I have my dev console enabled does not matter. Make sure your console is disabled in your launch parameters (if you use steam; my games> DA:O>Properties>set launch options>remove the -enabledevconsole)

I've been having this issue as well, and just tried the deleting the ini file, which it did work, for my first character and my fourth. But...my third still isn't uploading for some reason. Really wish there was a manual upload function like there is for uploading screenshots.

Really disappointed my third isn't showing up yet. I want to gloat about my rogue archers big hits

i agree, i just started my 4th character, dwarf noble, now that the problem of losing dlc content, ie edge, dragon mail, has been fixed. He is level 5 and still hasn't been uploaded. My uploading stopped, then i deleted the ini and it started again, but it stopped again 2 days ago.

1) the game only uploads character data on a manual save (no quicksaves)
2) the game only *updates* the character stats XML when you change equipment or level up, and will happily re-upload old data

The general recommended workaround is to change your equipment, manually save, then keep playing for a bit to give it time to upload.

1-  i always use manual sve, but a do have autosave on.
2- i have a new character that i started today, dwarf noble, he is level 5, and he hasn't been uploaded at all.
3- i have changed equipment, saved, and continued playing and it didn't help.

None of these "fixes" work for me, either. While my achievements are listed on my profile, I have only 5 screen shots and I'm still level 3. I usually get a message about "uploading has timed out" or something like that about a minute or three after I start playing. Why it's timed out, I don't know.



I've got Norton Internet Security on. Perhaps the game upload is being blocked? Don't know how I'd check that out or correct it.

well, my new dwarf noble finally got uploaded as a level 1 character with no pic. He is level 6 an is in Lothering.  the webpage said that the L1 dwarf was updated at 6:55PM but didn't show up until midnite:O, after i deleted the ini and let the game install a new 1:crying:
u may want to turn off autosave, it is on by default.  It may be causing problems uploading.

ITs widely accepted that most anti-virus programs like Norton/AVG so on do cause problems with games through their firewall functions etc.

Turn it off and uninstall it imo. Just get avast, does it better for free and works flawlessly.

Check naming of your "My Documents" folder.
When you using not-english windows the problem is in.
Just rename the folder to default value:
- right click on the My Documents (your naming) icon on the Desktop
- then choose Preferences, change the name and apply moving all your data.

It would help - my characters were updated

It's been almost a day now since deleting the .ini and it still hasn't updated. Again, I've never had the console enabled, my first couple of characters uploaded (they've long since been deleted) but none since. More than 3 weeks now without an update. My profile says its updating every day, but no updates appear, I can only assume since it believes that my storage is full. With zero characters on my profile page, and zero screenshots, I don't know what is filling it, but I'm starting to get damn angry about it.

And, no, I never played TOP.

Made a new character (mage) yesterday that still isn't showing up in the profile. The new achievement, Harrowed, isn't listed either. Admit it, this whole online profile thing is a major failure...

Well not only is my latest character and achievement still missing, but my other character has mysteriously changed down to lvl 10 in the profile. Was listed as 19 the other day. All but the latest achievements are still listed, and the equipment is outdated as well, might have worn that at lvl 10. The whole profile is so out of sync it's not funny.

Would be nice if some Bioware rep could be arsed to finally reply to this thread. It's blatantly obvious that this is affecting not just a few people, yet there was no official reply in a week. Does anyone at BW/EA care, is this being looked into at all? Some official statement would be most welcome.[smilie]../../../images/forum/emoticons/uncertain.png[/smilie]

Oh yeah, for the record, I have never used console mode, no mods apart from the official DLC and the semi-official party chest and Tale of Orzammar, and haven't even downloaded the toolset. So this problem is so not my fault...

Except one fact, it seems that sometimes I (and friends) can see none characters on my profile, and sometimes we see every one of them. Strange, it seems the site get the data from two diffferent servers (one jurassic old and another where the new things are going) and randomly chooses which to display...

i got this error message just reciently, i had just started the game, was still in camp, and was just about to leave camp and play when this time out message occurred.

It's not set. Iirc the FAQ also says that that command won't work for the launcher. Personally I have the impression that data does get uploaded but then just dissapears into some giant black hole at the server side...

Amen to that! I had to force-load my char pics from 360, but now they don't update at all.There's an anomaly in the site or servers somewhere that is comparative to losing socks in the dryer.

I don't have time to leave the game up and let it communicate with the BW servers, so I'll have to let it do so tomorrow and check if it worked. I'll let y'all know. It supposedly got my screenshots uploaded (haven't seen them yet, however), so we'll see. We'll see indeed. Because, frankly, I'm sick of my characters being stuck at lvl 1, and my dwarf with no picture. xD
