I had my entire problems solved now, I guess (except the fact that I can't use my avatars, which is being worked on for)

- EA account page, saw NINE personas there.
- selected the most ancient one (the first created) as the default
- ENABLED windows firewall (yeah, crazy!)
- reset standard configuration of said firewall
- game configurations offgame, "clear download cache" and the option to open a door in my firewall saying "Dragon Age information, you can leave through here!"

By doing this, everyting ALWAYS get uploaded immediately after I do a manual save. It just takes 8h to be seen here, sometimes.

TIPS:

- acess other's users profiles EVER and ask EVERYONE to do the same. It seems it DOES consider the number of views (not yours!), since strangely, my profile always get updated thirty seconds after a friend of mine sees it (but I still needed to do my part, as described up above)

- windows firewall's is NOT your best friend!!!! Sometimes, you still need to add the game manually in the "outgoing" section of it. Even when the firewall is disabled and you've created a trojan preventing it to make disasters to your computer.

Hell, I have internet by radio (some company sets up a tower/antenna to send paid wireless internet where it can't reach by cable), so I can't even acess the modem to open ports, and everything I said worked, so why don't you try?

EDIT >> if using the oldest persona doesn't seem to upload a thing, select other one until everyting seems to be uploading just fine, even if (for now) you cant use a character's avatar in the site. To test it, just do F5 right before leveling up, do the things I said, load the game, level up and do a manual save. If the achievements are up in 15 minutes and the characters in 8h max, you have your right persona =)

I only want my character portraits and avatars to be uploaded. I could care less for the character data being updated because I know it takes sooo long. It seems my problem is that I can't even upload my character's portraits or avatars in the first place.

I tried pausing my anti-virus and turning my firewall off but I still can't upload my character image

I think I fixed my problem. To those who have problems uploading their character's avatars or portraits, try this

1. go to your dragon age directory
2. open "DAOriginsConfig.exe"
3. click on "Repair"
4. click on "Add Firewall Exception" and "Clear Download Cache"

Before I did this, I checked my firewall exceptions and it only had 1 dragon age origins entry. After I clicked "Add Firewall Exception", it added 2 or 3 more exceptions for Dragon Age Origins.

I just did these things and I finally uploaded my recent characters' portraits. I hope this helps

You're welcome I'm glad it worked for you too :)  but I forgot these last steps:

5. after steps 1-4, go to your online profile and delete those characters with no portraits/avatar images or errors
6. play the game (logged in to your EA account), load your save for the character(s) you wish to upload on your online profile
7. save on a new slot

After you've done these, the game should probably have uploaded your character's stats.  You can now go back to your online profile and look at your diagnostics and check if everything about your character was uploaded properly (all green checks). You may not see it updated right away, but what's important is that you get all green checks on the diagnostics page

I'm hoping that clearing the download cache and attempting to add a firewall exception again works for me as well. My profile hasn't been updated since the 24th of November (although, as noted by a few others in this thread, my achievements appear to be up-to-date).

Hmmmmmm that's weird. Checked the Characters\\Hero folder and found 2 files: .jpg and .png ones. No .xml or .chr like in CC, and the names of the files are Hero.jpg not Tomas.jpg like it was in CC. Should it be this way? Or my game is broken-broken-broken?

You should have your two character images there, and one XML file, aswell as a folder containing your savegames.

As was posted a little earlier, if you want to be certain that your profile updates, save on a new slot, leave the game running for a little while (perhaps a few minutes if you were intending to close it right away). After about half an hour to an hour your profile should be updated according to that latest save file.

Well that's the problem. It doesn't. I read this thread and tried everything. It just doesn't work for me. Not that it is too important but now I'm simply curious what's wrong with my game that it doesn't create .xml file at all.

There may be a couple reasons for that, if it's not creating the XML file, the folder may not have write permissions (Particularly for Vista/Win7 systems that have multiple users). I'd say just check the most obvious of things first and flick through your settings in the DA configuration utility to make sure the uploads are enabled.

After which, if entirely necessary, forward the TCP port 18081 for your router if you're able, as that's the one which the game communicates with the Bioware servers with. Also check if your Characters/Hero folder is read only, and uncheck it (this won't be the problem for most people even if it is checked, but it won't hurt.).

Solved the xml problem. It was in my idiocy really. Searched a wrong folder for it, sorry =)

All the other things you mentioned are done. But thanks a lot anyways. Guess the problem is in WinXP SP2 like with the toolset or that the game is not entirely in english. Or both. Or neither :D

Yeah, my main character and the Achievements seem to update ok but I have 5 characters and only 1 is showing on my profile. I've done everything suggested to use as the work-around but it doesn't do anything.

Edit: Hmmm, seems to be working now. It took a while to do it initially and now it updates almost immediately.

I hate to break it to everyone that has Dragon Age, but there is not nor has there ever been a DragonAge.EXE file!  If there is, they have kept it VERY well hidden.  If there IS such a file, could someone PLEASE tell me where it is located?  The only one the game has is the one that sets everything up and the config.  There isn't one that is simply entitled "DragonAge.exe". If there is, it must be for the Direct2Drive users or someone altered a file, because otherwise I don't think the file exists.  Although, I take it back... It could have been replaced with a newer file and no longer goes by that name anymore.  I got my copy this Christmas so it may not exist anymore.

Yes it seemed to fix the problem!

At first, I thought nothing had happened. Then I noticed a link on my profile page "click here to view this user's other player profiles".

Now I'm wondering whether part of the problem is having multiple profiles?

What I don't understand is: "it updated my first character all the way to level 21, my second character to level 8" then it just stopped. I always get "an error has occurred trying to access the Bioware database" This error started around the middle of December. If my settings ad firewall allowed the initial updates to upload, then how or why would it suddenly stop all on its own?

I am on my 5th play through and still enjoying the game trying different party configurations, different dialogue branches. The most fun so far and most lucrative gear acquistion is siding with the Werewloves and wiping out the Dalish. I did it for the first time on my Dalish Rogue/Ranger.. what a trip listening to Zathrian rant about my being a traitor!

Still no dice for me. My profile shows achievements, but 0 characters. After I am logged in a few minutes, I see a "Unable to connect to Drage Age servers" error.

I also tried manually adding daorigins.exe to the "Allowed programs" list in the Windows 7 firewall settings page, but it says the exception already exists - even though it does not appear in the list. Something is obviously broken with the DA config programs "add firewall exception" button.

Finally got this to work myself - thanks guys! I cleared the cache, deleted my online character, loaded my most recent game, did a new manual save and watched the upload bars. It didn't work the first time, but when I exited the game and tried again, voila. It seems so random, but I'm glad to have my avatar and story finally up here, after several days of owning the game.

I have Error Code 1000 (No characters were found in your on-line storage), and game only appload my achivements (with right time). Show 0 characters = no story or other information. Only 4 screenshots. I check ports, everything fine with them. When I try appload screenshots, bar always stops on 20%.

Good thinkin', Maviarab. Also, if you go to your Profile Diagnostics and check how many files you hve uploaded, you'll noticed that you're only allowed a total of 100 files with a cap of 350 MB. So, if you have reached the limit on one of these, you profile will no longer update. My advice is to get rid of those screenshots where you can't see your character. I recently did this and my profile updates within minutes now. I also deleted my characters that I am currently playing so I can start fresh with them. But, the majority of my file space was taken up by screenshots.

First of all, I don't know english very well. I know it will take time, BUT. I think it's strange what I NEVER seen any signs of my char in profile. Only pics and achivements. Of course, I check Profile Diagnostics. 4 or even 10 screenshots don't take whole place, right? Plenty empty space. I don't need update for every minute, I just want to see this thing WORK.
