Hi and thanks for reading!

I have a problem with my Mass Effect 1 Saves; I completed the game two times, once as an engineer and once as a Soldier, but on different Hardware. I recently found my old saves again and tried to load them in ME1. The problem is that it doesn't recognize the saves as a different career i.e. all the saves are listen under John Shepard - Soldier. As soon as I load the engineer save, it changes the Career choice to Engineer and no longer lists the sodlier saves. The same if I choose a soldier save afterwards. I can do this all the time, it simply switches the class of the Career around and declines to show the other non class saves.

Is there any way to separate the saves into two different careers? Changing the savegame names did nothing for me.

I've had a similar problem. My character is going through the new game+ but suddenly after some random computer crash after I closed the game (I wasn't there when it happened) I'm unable to get her career back. The achievements are gone and every time I open up the game it goes back to a career that I deleted because of this problem. I'm still on the same hardware however. I tried to get rid of the career file but when it makes a new one it still has the career that I deleted. Any clues how to deal with this?
I'm on windows 7, playing the game from Stream if that helps. Sorry Nogthwai, I don't have a solution right now, but just letting you know we have a similar problem.

EDIT: One I need to spend more time outside. Second, however, I think the source of the problems have to do with the career end save. I recycled what looked like in important save. It was my career save. This solved the saving on the main menu (for some reason) and the career reading problem for my character (at least after one reboot). Of course 2 obvious problems: 1) Still no achievements and 2) No way to get an existing save. If there were some backup of that file or some way to edit it both our problems would probably be solved.
One question: Is the career end save supposed to be with the other in-game saves? Or is it supposed to be somewhere less conspicuous? I don't remeber looking at the save files after I beat the game personally. Thanks in advance.
P.S.: I don't know if this helps but I discovered this after doing a system restore from a couple of days ago.

I know that there are probably rules to double posting but I'm doing this as an update and a bump. I'm still on vacation with a weak signal I couldn't do anything sooner. Anyway, I just restored from my saves back before the freak accident. While this doesn't restore all my achievements, it remembers my career, stops saving at the main menu (still don't know why that happens), and I still get some achievements. In order to keep some of my progress, I just copied some of the saves before I restored it, and then copied them back over after I restored the Mass Effect folder in My Documents.
Now I just need to experiment with another career to see if my career truly worked. Well my job is done and things are working smooth for me. Hope this helped you out if you still needed it. Now Ace wants a brownie; Ace is going to eat a brownie.
