I am/was a big Fan of you Bioware. I played them nearly all.
BG1, BG2, Jade Empire, Neverwinter Nights 1 and 2 and many more.

You have always been the beacon for cool and noticable CRPG's for me.
But for the last years, you only dissapoint me in all respects.

You dumb down Dialog Options, you turn away from the community. Latest example is the announcement that DA3 will use the Frostbite 2 Engine, which means that there will be no mods and no Toolset, since the Middleware used for FB2 does not allow that, according to Dice.

I know it is hard serving games to a hardcore niche only, but does it have to go that far?
Dragon Age 1 was good. It really was. Why can't you not just take the Engine, make it look better and make DA3 the same way DA1 was, with some minor improvements here and there where it makes sense. Why does every sequel has to be completly different from the first one and dumbed down a great deal?
Not to mention that the stories lack some depth lately, when I compare them to your former titles.

Bioware, please, remember what your games made great and come back to your former glory.
Stop the casualization of your games and get back to your roots.
A sad fan.

Bioware hasn't made a cRPG in a LONG time. They can't just go back to their former glory Bioware is owned by EA. Bioware is a brand name a lot of the Mythic team is working on Old Republic and a new studio was named well Bioware for Command and Conquer.

NWN2 was developed by Obsidian, not Bioware.

Maybe, but it was made in contract with Bioware.

In terms of story Obsidian really DOES a great Job.
But the technical side is mostly horrible :P. See Alpha Protocol. I loved the Setting and the possibilities. But the techical side was eeeeek.

Well yea but look at this.

" Look at the most recent one with those poor guys at Obsidian. They did Fallout: New Vegas, the ship date got moved up and, who does the QA on a project? The publisher is always in charge of QA. When a project goes out buggy, it’s not the developer. The developer never says, “I refuse to fix the bug,” or, “I don’t know how.” They never do that. It’s the publisher that does the QA, so if a product goes out buggy, it’s not the developer’s fault."

Now I don't if that's 100% true but I can definitely see it. Lucas Arts forced them to release Kotor 2 way too early, Sega forced them to add in romances and rushed them and Bethesda rushed them also.

Anyways, casualization = good for BioWare. They are a large AAA developer comprising of several studios. They need lots of money to survive.

All that means is that they licensed tech. Bio didn't have script approval or anything.

All true, but there's a difference between a game where the publisher moves the ship date up and a game where the developer can't finish by the original ship date. Or rather, we should assign the blame differently.

Longer than that. Bio's been "dumbing things down" since they scrapped exploration in BG2. Not to mention completely ignoring choices and events from BG1.

Is this for real?

What was the reason for this? I remember that the original post was critical of BioWare, but from memory, it didn't have any personal attacks attached to it.

This would be true if it wasn't for the fact that Bioware has been making their games more and more casual since BG2.

Bioware is trowing away their actual fanbase in order to release A.A.A games addressed mostly for casual gamer...

For clarify i sayd casual gamers not console gamers this because also in console there are title that can be defined RPG much more to the garbage they released recently but im happy someone decided to release a revamp of the baldur's gate saga..

And im much more happy bioware isn't involved in this...

I'm convinced that the next ME will be focusing on multiplayer.
Yeah and whats in ME3 is called a rip off of Hoard mode from GoW.
Their working on the next C&C game.
Is there any doubt their not working on RPGs anymore?

Dunno if I'd use the word "casualization" but I agree that Bioware has been making too many compromises to fit the tastes of of a larger audience (funny how little 'art' and 'compromise' mix btw). Instead of trying to push the RPG genre forward, they're just watering everything down, giving us ever more shallow RPG mechanics with better action segments. Bioware's actions will hurt the entire genre in the long run, as they and Bethesda are the biggest WRPG developers right now. What was Bioware's last RPG innovation? Dialog wheels? Mixed blessing at best

^^Yep. I would argue that they started making their games more "casual" with BG2 (not that I like the whole casual argument). And that they have been moving in the same direction ever since.
