Have you played the game again since witnessing the ending for the first time?

I finished almost two weeks ago, still haven't touched it. It just seems too pointless and depressing to even try.

No. I can't bring myself to after that awful, absurd ending.

For me it totally invalidates, (and in many ways)  even spoils the entire series.

Very sad, as I was hoping to do a new 1,2,3 run through with FemShep for the first time... But what would be the point, right?

I want to play it again, but I just can't. Not yet at least. I will wait for their April announcement and go from there.

Some people are smart enough to realize that ME3 is a good game despite its ending. The people who just discount the amazing things in rest of the game are idiots.
It's an amazing game, but the ending sours the entire experience for me. not just ME3, but the whole series.
I discount them because the climax of the game ultimately fell flat. When that happens in any story, it tends to invalidate everthing which built up to the climax. Introducing a new character and concept out of the blue in the last 3 minutes is not the way to write a story. That's called a "deus ex machina", and is considered a literary sin.

Worse is that the writers clearly knew it since the 'starchild' is literally god from the machine. The joke isn't funny. Instead, it feels like the writer knew it was bad and decided to just rub it in our collective faces.

In a word---Agreed

And Purple

Yes ME3 is a great game, but for some of us the ending is
everything. How many people do you know who don't read the last chapter of a good
book or walk out in the last 10 minutes of a great movie? Not too many I'd bet,
no matter how "smart" we are, for all our existential BS about the journey
most of us want a satisfying ending. Note satisfying, not "happy" (not that I would not like that to be an option).

Managed likes 17/27 over what nearly 3 weeks on my insanity game. I just skip everything I can, dont do side missions as EMS means nothing and play on my iphone when something cant be skipped.

Even then I get fed up after 1-2 missions after thinking about the ending.

It sickens me. It physically sickens me.

How melodramatic, and over a video game. Have you people tried saying some of this stuff in the real world? "Sorry boss, I can't come into work today. I'm mourning Shepard. My wife needs to keep the sleeping pills away from me because I think I might kill myself over Mass Effect 3's ending."

I've had four sleepless nights in a row with nightmares about the ending.

... I might tell myself "it's just a game", but my subconscious apparently cared quite a bit about Garrus, Tali, EDI, and the universe I've spent hundreds of hours loving and investing in.

And that's a good thing; when a game can make you care, make you feel, it's a sign that it transcended being a "mere" anything and became something memorable and important. Without love and emotion, fiction is pointless; entire wars erupted through influential fictional work such as "Uncle Tom's Cabin", health reforms over fictional stories like "The Jungle", and the face of modern morality and ethics called into question with works ranging from "1984" to "Atlas Shrugged" to "Fahrenheit 451".

Don't underestimate the power of narrative, or the intimacy of interactive mediums.

Nope. Until last night, I actually gave up on all games for three solid weeks due to ME3's soul-crushing ending.

I just started playing ME1 again. It's been a little difficult since playing the easier ME2 and ME3. Still. I enjoy it better than ME3

Up to the starchild, the game was awesome. There are still parts of the game that I want to experience. Mordin and Jacob died on the ME2 save I used, and I want to experience Mordin's "redemption" character progression. Granted, they are minor things, like wanting my Paragon maleShep to meet Jack at Grissom, just for that one scene. I have 7 characters that started from me1 and gone through 2. Even though ultimately, all this build up is for nothing, the characters keep me interested.

I've played the multi player but haven't touched single player.

Limited replay value if it all turns out the same anyway, the whole ending thing pretty much turned me off playing games for a little while. I tried to play ME3 again and Me1 and managed to last all off 10 mins before getting that "whats the point feeling" and turning off.

So, tonight I downloaded Fable from xbl (The old xbox one, since I never played it first time round and its reminded me why I love games, thank the maker, and erm peter moleneux).

Mass Effect is about the story.

They killed that story.

I've played through 1.5 times and started an ME1 game. I can't bring myself to finish that even though I haven't played ME 1 in 4 years....

All I can say about the ending without going into a long drawn out discussion about everything that bothered me is, I think it's time for Halo.

I tried to play it a second time to see how it goes with Ashley because I had no save with her from ME2 and I don't like Kaidan, but I hardly managed to get through the Mars mission and lost all hope in this game again. I don't want to die and destroy the whole universe so I never started Single Player again. I am playing Deus Ex: Human Revolution right now. The endings there where a hard decision but everyone was reasonable....

I started another playthrough with a different Shepard. I am just about to do the final mission on Rannoch (with that stupid Reaper - grrr) I'm not nearly as enthusiastic about this playthrough though. I have to say, I'm much more interested in the MP, much to my surprise. Also, keeping it at 100% will make it easier to get the "Shepard Breathes" ending, which I have to have or I get an empty feeling in the pit of my stomach, stupidly enough. I have two level 20 and one level 19 characters in MP but naturally can't participate in the weekend event due to the fact that I use a PS3. Sheesh.

I got curious about what my femshep would look like, so imported her, then stopped playing.

I also saw a video of Shepard getting drunk and waking up in an elevator, and played to see if he popped up anywhere else, like in TBoGT.

I had all of these plans to go back and replay the whole trilogy through after I beat ME3; I was going to do a couple of totally new playthroughs....I think I was so distracted by the ending of ME3 though that while I was watching it I accidentally swallowed a bowling ball or something and I haven't had the stomach to play video games since then.
