Bad Feeling about PAX

In my opinion, every response ranging from Rays Blog to the small decision that they forwarded the cupcakes sent to them to a local charity because of the "context" in which the cupcakes were sent, smells like they are offended by the criticism.
Call me cynic. I take Rays blog at its face value. They will add content to try and explain the existing endings better. that about it.

I have a sinking feeling Bioware is going to give us the same corporate run around and not tell us anything new or concrete at PAX.
I think worst case scenario is we get a screenshot that alludes to whatever DLC they want to push on us (like Fight for Omega or whatever it's called) and we don't see or hear anything particularly helpful or informative regarding the ending controversy.

agreed - fortunately I can wait until 4/17 to see what they do or at least outline what they will be doing...if it does not interest me I will simply trade in ME3 to get Witcher 2 on the 17th...It is weird though because I never envisioned a scenerio where I would trade in any Mass Effect games...

Doing so would be painfully obvious. Everyone will see what BioWare is doing. Some will undoubtedly sneak through. Penny Arcade, however, will be complicit in their actions, if by nothing other than guilt by association. If PAX gets a reputation for screening out questions, less and less people will take the expo seriously. It'll be the first nail in the coffin for Jerry and Mike.
I can't believe I'm depending on big business to act like big business, but it's in EA's best interest to give the players what they want and tell the devs to take their "artistic vision" and shove it. At this point, announcing that we will get the DLC we want sometime in the future, most people would be willing to purchase other DLC in the mean time.

That will be 20$ for Retake Omega DLC
Also they will tell the world how the fans "waste precious food."

Not that, just wondering if the sly remark to try and feel superior was necessary.

What I want to know is, where's the backlash about BioWare using a charity to further their own cause and goals? We do essentially the same thing and we're "holding the charity hostage". BioWare comes out smelling like a rose AND makes me feel like I smell like dog crap at the same time. And no matter what I say or how I word it, I feel like Krogan Crap (come on, it's gotta be bad) for even saying anything at all about it. This whole situation sucks.
And the irony of BioWare giving themselves a new ending out of the cupcake trilogy does not escape me.

I don't have an issue with them forwarding the cupcakes to charity in and of itself. It was the reason given for it - which was because "it didn't celebrate ME3" - that makes it sound like they were offended.
If they had simply said "thanks fans...we get the message. We forwarded the cupcakes to a local charity...", it would be a much more positive message.
Just my opinion.

BioWare made the right call with the cupcakes, let that one go. Everyone came out a winner, the most important element was the message.rizuno wrote...

They are listening to the feedback, that does not require them to act immediately or ever on it, but they are listening and then they will do what they think is best for their IP. They care about th game as much as the fans do, Casey Hudson has been working on this franchise for nearly a decade; it is essentially his baby. I think at times people tend to lose clarity and sight of that.
They are listening, I am sure they will say something, it may not be the wonder cure some of you want to hear but it will be something.

I completely agree. They won't change anything. I didn't know about that response to the cupcakes, but after reading the statement, yes, it does very much seem like they're offended.
I also don't think they're going to announce anything spectacular at PAX. They'll probably repeat that they're working on additional content ( = "explanations"), thank the fans for their feedback/passion and remind everyone that they got really good reviews. Then they'll probably move on to another topic.

I am being optimistic.
Bioware DOES have great writers, and the rest of the game was stellar IMO.
Casey is a good guy, and I can imagine this has been a rough month for him.
I know they can do better, and the fact that they are doing something about it is encouraging.
Even if PAX is just an announcement of the Ending DLC announcement to come later in April, I'm ready to wait patiently. Re-playing ME1 and ME3 MP in the meantime.
The fact that the writing in the entire series was so brilliant is what makes me think this whole thing was planned from the start. Casey Hudson and his team of writers probably thought "oh man, this is going to be such an epic way to finish the series, not have a conclusive ending immediately, let people work it out themselves and then come in and validate their theories", but maybe didn't realise that not everyone would understand the ending the first time they saw it or even after pondering over it for a while (I know I didn't, I had to go researching to make any sense of it at all - I'd never have guessed Shepard could be indoctrinated).
I just find it nearly impossible to believe that a team that created such an involving universe with brilliant dialogue, deep characters and a compelling story would not be able to finish said story with the same level of brilliance that they demonstrated in 99% of the rest of the series. I think the ending was intentionally meant to be all "WTF?" and they've always intended to add on to/explain it. I wouldn't be surprised if Indoctrination Theory is right and the writers came up with it and we were just lucky a few incredibly detail-oriented fans were able to work it out (I'm a loyal ME fan, but I don't have anywhere near the detail-noticing skills that would be required to have worked out the Indoctrination Theory).

No matter how sweet it isn't nice. They didn't have to accept them, they took them, got the letters attached and then donated them. A win for everyone, let the cupcakes go. It does BSN a disservice to keep harping about it.

They were not so much offended, so much as the cupcakes were a dig. Tongue in cheek but a dig that they obviously know about. It would be like crapping your pants and then someone baking a cake for you celebrating crapping your pants and then making you eat it.

I bring this up because I am kind of afraid we will get the same thing at PAX. Maybe the only people who take the time to go to these things are the fans that are so fanatical that they can't even see some of the problems.

If you think ME was anything more than a pitch to advance his career, you're drinking the Kool-Aid a bit too much. And EA could care less - they've got your money and, if BioWare's brand is damaged, they'll just take 'em out back and put them down with a spade. And then they'll go through BW's pockets to loot every morsel of IP from BW's corpse. It won't be the first time.rizuno wrote...
