I'm wondering, is this a PC only thing?

Its possible on XBox but not very common.

PS3, as usual, can just watch.

Already did a live chat session. Told me that everything is Bioware's business. What else should I do?

Innocent players should not be punished for what a cheater does, if bioware bans innocent players that get extra credits due to a cheater being in there team, then they simply did not do there research right. It should not be hard to determine wether the player has cheated or not.

Talked to EA-Livechat again. Again, they told me to post here. But There are almost no devs active in the multiplayer forum. :(

How about you just take the credits, exit the lobby, and spend your credits on spectre packs and not be so holier than thou with your "I do not accept hacked credits" attitude?

Don't worry about it. I doubt Bioware is going to do anything to one time offenders, even two or three time offenders.

One person got banned for doing this very thing... It sounds like you are one of the cheaters hoping to get others banned.

Just report the problem Capslock. Keep track of your legitimate earned credits and only spend them.

To respond to the OP's question; I wouldn't worry too much. Bioware is looking for PATTERNS of cheating. They are not going to ban you for an isolated incident. They WILL ban people who consistently earn more credits than they should be: i.e 200,000 creds for a gold win would be something they would take notice of and track. If you are consistently getting that many credits you are going to get banned, if you had 1 or 2 matches spread out over a reasonable period of time in which you earn too many credits, Bioware is going to realize that you were simply "along for the ride" and not complicit.

All that aside, it never hurts to send them an email and let them know what is happening. I would send the email and let them know in the email that if you do not hear back from them in a week, that you will assume that they do not plan to adjust your account and you will spend the creds.

Hope this helps.

Try tweeting to @MassEffect. Although from what I hear it's an intern or a bot, so IDK how much help that will be. That's one of my fears though, being caught in a modded lobby at no fault of my own. Not able to purchase anything, the possibility of a ban. Play it safe OP. I was born in London.

EA live chat is a 50/50 change that you'll just waste your time. either they solve or explain the issue or the person will end the chat claiming that they arent getting a response from you (saying you're ignoring when is them just giving you a ****).

Since I am not the only one that has got this problem and because I think it will even become more likely to play with a cheater in the future, I think I will have to bump this thread until we get an official response.
You also don't know what is their definition of a cheater pattern. I think that (spending/having) the 3 million credits may already be suspicious.

As usual, EAware is completely ignoring yet another one of these threads. Fixing these kinds of problems apparently doesn't make them enough money.

So, sad to say, OP, but you're screwed. If you spend them they'll ban you, and if you sit around waiting, they'll do nothing.

Great fun, huh?

I think this is now the sixth thread, and counting, about this exact topic that has received no reply from EAware. Legendary customer service at work.

Why did you mention you were born in London?

On topic - Yeah. That sucks, op. I wouldn't spend the credits, but this is a very sticky situation to be in. :/

It's an Anderson thing, and I like the idea of tweeting too.  It's always good to play it safe.

Please note that the intention is NOT to ban people who are "victims" of these kinds of hacks (ie got credits they didn't ask for). If this happens to you, I recommend not spending them :)

So I'd make sure not to dip into them.

It is very unlikely that you specifically will be punished for the actions of others, even if they benefit you.

That said, if you earn more credits than you should have, I would do the following:

Open the help menu of Origin, report the occurence to tech support, they'll tell you to post on the forums, but atleast your account is flagged as reporting the issue.
Post a topic on the Tech Support forums reporting everything that happened when the issue occured.

Once those two things are done, should you really be expected to know how many extra credits you received and make an effort not to spend them?

If it happens often and you're earning hundreds of thousands of extra credits per week, then I would say that you should definitely save them and make multiple attempts to report the issue. On the other hand, if it happens once and you earn an extra hundred thousand credits or so, as long as you report the issue in a timely manner, I don't see anything wrong with spending said credits.

Hear that? It's a bump in the night.

I'd like to hear the resolution of this. JarretLee doesn't recommend it, and do you really want to risk it for a bunch of shiny new guns you could lose anyway? Bioware is definitely the person to go to here. Have you tried PMing ChrisPriestly or JarretLee directly? It might speed things up, though probably not tonight.

why are you complaining about free credits, its not like every game is like that. are you guys some sort of moral trolls or something? they're not gonna do anything with anyone, are they gonna ban everyone who comes into contact with these so called ' cheater'
No, they don't really give a damn becasue this is a PVE game so no one loses

so shut up, suck it up and buy a specter pack or 2

^See, now NSGM has some good advice. I only ever come here for MP discussion, but of course there's a separate board for tech support. It was stupid of me not to think of it. You should repost this over there, CPT Capslock- I'm sure you'll get your problem resolved much faster.

He isn't esactly complaining but saying what any sensible person would say. He doesn't want to be banned for a mistake he wasn't responsible for. EA/Bioware staff must address this issue. They can't keep ignoring it, unless they don't ban anyone who cheated, but they are banning people. So who knows if someone innocent gets banned in the process? They need to clarify this situation.

if they were to ban, they would ban the person using the hack and not the people he plays with who doesn't use the hack. Logically, they don't figure out who the cheater is through how much credits they earn, though it seems like bioware is cutting a lot of corners these days so they might just do that.
If you don't use hacks, then u got nothing to worry about

besides, this is the least of their problems right now, who cares about some cheater getting credits when there is the WHOLE FREAKING GAME to fix.

This happened to me, entered a game vs geth where the geth did next to no damage (3 hits from the Prime took out half my shields, Pyro's did 0 damage) and died in one hit... 2 for the Prime.

I immediately reported the incident to BioWare via the email. Spent the credits though... didn't even think for a second that the one round of free credits would be something I should save "just in case" BioWare wanted to take them away. I reported the cheater, bought my Spectre pack, and continued on my way.

My suggestion just keep playing as normal and use credits that you "earned" 15k for bronze, 30k for sliver and 75k for gold. If your playing and your spending pattern match up there is nothing worry about. Also you can still participate in this weeks event if you already have level 20 characters, the event has nothing to do with your cash stockpile and only requires exp.

It would suck for you to miss out on a commendation pack because you didn't promote 2 characters
