Who says the kid wasn't a real kid at some point? Sure, ID holds that when Shepard sees him, it's in his mind. But the mind tends to borrow from what it knows. Perhaps the first two sightings were of an actual boy, but from the vent and forward, it was in his mind?

Sadly, all we can do is speculate, because the game sure left a lot of things unanswered.

Honestly, I don't think that wall is a base for anything, just a bunch of cut and pasted pictures. Steve's husband is already on the wall before Shepard encourages him to leave a picture, theres the picture of the Turian from the codex and I'm pretty sure Thane is on there a few times as well.

Ahm... I think that's reading too much into it.

Haven't you heard? Everything is proof if you read too much into it.

Also, explanation for why the kid appears on the memorial wall on the Citadel? I'm sure that's just more indoctrination or something, right?

A game designer had to draw this so their was thought into it, it is right next to where you see the kid (no electrical lines that I see), and the way it's drawn it shows a lightning bolt going directly into the head.

ID or not.  I see it as a warning of the kid.

They also designed lots of logos for all the companies you buy supplies from in ME1 and hardly anyone noticed.
All those things are like the bass, no-one notices it until it's not there.
The levels in the game this time are incredibly detailed but we just take those details for granted.

While that would be cool of Bioware to do, I think we're getting a little too "Number 23" with this

I notice something wierd with the way he moved his hands during the first time i played that scene. It felt kinda forced...

It's a danger electricity sign... It's insinuating the kid, if real, would be bbq'ed playing in the ducts.

I'm an electrical engineer, and work with voltages upto 120,000.  I've never seen a warning sign anything like that.   The fact that the lightning bolt strikes the skull.... leads to speculation by everyone.

well...uh....the indoctrination codex entry and the stuff you see on the derelict reaper in ME2 pretty much show you that indoctrination causes vivid allucinations so....uh....yeah why not the picture of the kid on the citadel?

A photograph on a memorial wall, one that you have to look for, is a vivid hallucination?

Yes.

Why in the world would it not be. If anything this is more evidence. If it was thrown in your face and had a crying mother or something, then we would have something to say. As it stands having to find this tiny little easter egg, completely uncared for, does indeed allow us to interpret it as a hallucination.

Even supposing the actual photo is real, it might be just a boy that looks like ventboy, but Shepard's mind plays tricks on him and he sees the real boy.

What are the odds that this boy's parents are alive and on the citadel, and aware that he died on that shuttle?

Not sure if we're agreeing.  I can't tell anymore (with forums, that is).  I just meant somebody drew it this way, put it next to the scene you see the kid.  I've never seen a warning sign like that, but that doesn't mean there couldn't be.  Also, I never saw any power outlets near there (it's a vent so wouldn't the warning be a fan?  I Dunno).

Anyway, I'm not saying it's confirmation for anything, but seems like foreshadowing of the end with the kid.

yeah every time you see the kid at the beginning theres a warning sign next to him. signs are on the dropship too when he gets onboard

In dreams too? I've got to check them out.

theres no "sign" in the dreams. there have been reports, however, that the shadows seem to whisper "stay away!" or something to that effect.

the shadows also seem to try and wall off the kid from you, if you pay attention. theres some videos on youtube of that

When you wonder around long enough you will get certain word phrases in the dream scenes that make no sense if shepard was not indoctrinated.

Picture is racist against Asians.

This is a rather ridiculous statement. This is a popculture reference where the poster equates his line of thought  with Jackie Chans probable line of thought, ergo he RELATES/emphazises positively. How could that be racist???

I still don't know if bioware intended all this stuff, but I do wonder how you accidentally make a conspiracy theory of this level. XDD

Their's a caution and warning sign next to the kid every time you see him...It's one of the point of the indoctrination theory.

I'm saying it could be anything. But we have to stop looking everywhere for proof that the IDT is real.

It's too subtle for foreshadowing, to my mind.

Step 1: Take a conspiracy theory
Step 2: Take something from the level
Step 3: Interpret or twist that something until it fits your theory.

Easy-peasy Conspiracy Theory.

It is a warning sign for electricity if someone was to go in the vent. Simple enough. The fact that it is different to voltage warning signs nowdays is that it is set in the future. Also, has anyone posted any evidence of this sign being in other places the kid is seen? But yeah, I can see why people might grasp at straws for this to support the indoc theory.

If this was the only thing people were using for support, yeah.  It's weak.

I think most people's minds are already set on what they want to believe.  It's a waiting game now.

The people running away from the Reapers are 8-bit sprites, the guns on the airship are just scaled barrels of the Eviscerator, the Presidium commons can glitch and show the battle damage before the Cerberous attack, and Shepard has trouble keeping his eyes in place.

Art assets are just not a good indicator for things such as this.

This is how I feel. I think the Indoctrination Theory is completely bogus, but I want to believe it, because it makes infinitely more sense than the actual ending and is far, far more creative.

I don't see any harm in grasping at straws, aslong as people are prepared for the possibilty that they're wrong. Although the Indoctranation theory does seem really fitting.

Just one other little design thing I noticed: When I save Kelly Chambers, after talking with her, she actually references the Cerberus coup...before it happens.

I'm sure that was just Shepard's subconscious warning him/her about the possibility of a coup, though.
