maybe power in the building was shut off? (I like the IT, but there are a lot of ways to speculate, none really meaningful)

very early on, someone brought up the point that the child always had shadows, and I checked. I guess he isn't technically a "ghost" so that doesn't prove much.

Wel, other than at the ending obviously. I was always wondering why people called him ventboy...

Ok there is the danger painted on the kodiak shuttle that the kid gets on. Can someone fire up the game and see if that danger sign is painted on the kodiaks in the hangar?

If it's not on the Normandy shuttles the texture was purposely placed on that unique shuttle.

I checked this on my 2nd playthrough as well and couldnt find a danger sign on the Normandy's shuttle while parked but I think I may have seen it on one of the many missions when we get dropped off in the shuttle.

To play along with the theory, I think the child was real, but when he died, the child's death was used against Shepard. It was used to eat away at his mind. Also, notice how you follow the kid deeper and deeper into woodland with each dream, why is it even woodland at all, why are the dreams even happening? They're completely off character for Shepard. He's seen quite a lot in his time, yet a kid can so easily eat away at his head.

It's either that or the kid was simply something that finally broken him mentally. He has been through a lot, as I said.
