This. Only way to really play Novaguard is to host the game yourself, removes pretty much all of the Vanguard issues.jaydubs67 wrote...

Not if the Vanguard is played competently. If the Vanguard is good, the Vanguard is the bullet.
If you are lucky.
Even a skilled Vanguard doing everything 100% right can die when lag/glitches/bugs comes into play.
Damn lag and glitches, I can't tell you howmany times I've been spamming charge at an enemy 5 feet in front of me and it doesn't fire off...

Agreed. i don't even like the vamguard to much but they can really bring the pain where in counts. Back on topic: what about the claymore? is it nerfed/ too heavy? Or just so rare that no ones got one lol?
My claymore is lvl 5, but I find it to be too heavy

I love the Disciple shotgun on my vanguard.

Effective at range when charging would be stupid. Good against enemies you don't want to charge (guardians, banshees)
Whaaat? They're the most fun to charge! Charge in on a guardian, aim for the head, shoot it off, charge the next and repeat.
Banshees I only charge on bronze and right away roll out (usually to recharge shields). Charging them on silver/gold hurts
EDIT: Discple on higher levels is a 200% recharge for me, so I don't really sacrifice much using it. Sure, I can't "snipe" guardians, but if I plan to snipe, I'll go my Infiltrator or Engineer.

Banshees, brutes, and Primes are really the reasons I want a ranged weapon because even on bronze I don't want to tangle with them. While the carnifax is fine for poping the heads off trash, I don't feel it provides me with what I'm looking for when it comes to taking on boss mobs.

Yes, I imagine charge -> shotgun against guardians would be fun. But shooting them from across the map through their shields is more effective. You can kill them as fast as a widow sniper thanks to faster reload. No risk of getting melee stunned.
Shotgun vanguards are for traditionalists. I fight dirty.

Shotguns are not better vs boss mobs unless you are taking a heavy shotgun and giving up recharge speed. Carnifex has better DPS than any of the light shotguns except the scimitar, which has only negligably higher dps (roughly 10 per second at equal weapon level).

Carnifex + Disciple
Carnifex + Evi X
Falcon X
Geth Plasma Shotgun X
I mainly use the Carnifex + Discple since I don't have the others leveled enough.

According to that the Diciple too has a little better DPS, and also the Wraith which has quite a bit better DPS.

Maybe I'm readthing the sheet wrong, but I'm seeing a Carnifax with a DPS of 460.2-575.2 vs. the Spike thrower at 1280 - 1600. Now I understand the Graal is not a light weapon, that's why it does more damage and why I'm giving up recharge speed.

I always host, and I still get issues occasionally. The best was when my guy just decided that attempting to walk in any direction would instead walk toward one particular point on the map. It was really weird.

I was wondering about that this morning when I was running around with it. Does the stat page show regular non charged dmg or charged damage?

2. Falcon
3. Claymore
Geth Plasma Shotgun is also really good but I dont like chargeup weapons as much. Also, you need power efficiency 3 to use claymore as a novaguard.

For me, the difference between 200% cooldown and ~170% is negligible. Never equipped only a pistol and never will, sort of takes the point out of it for me.

I heard a lot of people use Phalanx over Predator. I tried both and performed better with good ol' Predator.
From the Shotguns I can see myself trying the Katana X, because it doesn´t hurt my cooldowns that much, or a Vindicator X/Mattock X for the same reason and some nice long range damage, when Charging -> Nova doesn´t seem like a good idea.
