I was on board the Samara train until she pulled out a pistol and attempted to commit suicide for the most ridiculous reason regarding the code ever.. So she's so devoted to the code, that she'll trick it by killing herself so she won't have to fulfill it... o....k....
quote]
She is so devoted to the code she hadn't seen her daughters for hundreds of years. If the code demanded she killed her daughter i am sure she would. so the only way around it would be death.

I saved her on my first run just because I panicked with the paragon interrupt, but now I just let her do it and then shoot her daughter, as obviously, that entire family is just so screwed up I felt like leaving ANY of them alive was too much of a risk for the galaxy's population of sane individuals...
Extreme, but gotta love renegade. It's completely ruthless this game compared to the past ones.

Interested or not, Samara is firmly resistant against the idea of entering a romance with anyone, despite how conflicted she might feel on that point toward any one person. This is a part of her character as much as Garrus's distaste toward the red tape found when working for C-Sec. As much as you might want to romance her, she's not an option. It has nothing to do with how much "effort" BioWare was willing to put in.

But that's the point, she broke the code by killing herself so as not to break the code by killing her daughter.. So... just don't kill your daughter.. which is what happened anyway.. Samara had a serious case of stupid there at the end before Shep stopped her.. or didn't.. which is what I do, just let that little blue sign blink until I hear a bang..

Shooting Mordin in the back, letting Samara off herself and then murdering her daughter, lieing about curing the genophage and then killing wrex later on., killing Ash/Kaiden during the Cerb assault, letting the geth annihilate the Quarian fleet and watching Tali kill herself..
Ya, ME3 was pretty brutal compared to the last two games.. And it's really brutal to logic when it comes to that ending.. whew.. It's like your brain is getting stabbed by a rusty spoon until it's nothing but mush..

Maybe it was "The galaxy is becoming extinct and I don't have time for this" sort of renegade instead of ME2 where it was just bad*ss interuptions.Revan312 wrote...

She's a Justicar, near the end of her life and every child she'd had has been an Ardat-Yakshi. Can see why she's kind of not interested in romance.
Ardat-Yakshi are only produced if they're pureblood lineage. Meaning, if Shep and Samara had a kid, it wouldn't be a blue vampire.

She couldn't kill her daughter, as the code demanded, so she couldn't let herself live with the dishonor of breaking the code.

Ardat Yakshi must be pureblood. Shep is human. Thus any children of his cannot be AY.

^Lol. Nuns travel the galaxy and root out injustice? Kill people, become mercs, hunt down Spectres and such? She has nothing against romance, she is just completely devoid of that emotion anymore. Although obviously Shep had her thinking about it for a sec.Jackal7713 wrote...

The near romance in 2 was great, that moment when she almost gives in to her feelings... priceless. Much better than another of this much too easy to achieve romances in ME2.
To me, she seemed quite tender when they meet the last time in the Citadel.
You could interpret the scene in many ways and since my Shepard as interested in her, I interpreted it as a strong connection between the two, with Smara holding herself in check.

Yeah, that was great, but I like it even more when Daniels gets all angry about Donnelly's comments about women, but not because they are sexist, but because he never talks about her:P

Agreed with you on that. Samara herself says that the Justicars are more like knight-errants or samuria, not a religious order. I never really thought about the citadel scene like that, but now that I do I find it a much better extension to their relationship.
Although I think the current Citadel scene would have been more appropriate had you tried to romance Samara in ME2 and then picked up a new LI in ME3. The idea being that Samara assumes that you had moved on and were no longer interested in her, but she may have still been interested in you, hence her restraining herself. But if you hadn't romanced anyone yet in ME3 and tried to romance her in ME2(also assuming your a paragon), you should have atleast gotten a hug or kiss from her, along with the promise of seeing her after the Reapers are dealt with
