Reports came through of the Reapers broadcasting images of their victory at Taetrus...
-Can anyone, anyone at all, give me one logical reason why the reapers would do that?

It would be more tactical to broadcast images of dead Turian commanders or civilians. Serving as a sign of what is to come for every organic alive.
It would show that nobody is safe, no matter who you are. A fate worst than death is coming soon.

Scaretactics and propaganda is only worth it when there is something to be gained. What could possibly be gained from transmitting any images at all?
37 million years of succesfully culling the heard vs 50k years of haphazard biological evolvement. I wouldnt feel the need to waste any effort broadcasting that. It would be a waste of electricity to even consider the notion.

-And what precisely would that do? No matter what youre dead. If anything it would push the locals to fight harder. "Screwd if we do, screwed if we dont, might as well go out fighting".Naughty Bear wrote...
It can knock morale, how would Turian soldiers act when their highest ranking soldiers are broadcast and shown around Palaven as rotting corpses? How about refugees? It might even push people to suicide.
Broadcasting those images can be used as a way to show that the Reapers have won.

Here, let me finish that sentence for you.
"
Reports came through of the Reapers broadcasting images of their victory at Taetrus, but these could not be authoritatively confirmed. "
Also, you guys do realize that this is the same thing they did with Cerberus Daily News for ME2? In other words, real-time here corresponds to real-time in-universe. Expect more of these ANN updates for at least a couple of months.
Simple, it shows that this is a very confusing situation and not all information can be reliable all the time. Same thing happens when major disasters strike in the real world all the time.Farbautisonn wrote...

Morale, psyops, propaganda... I wouldnt care a wit with the odds the reapers have.

Can Palaven be saved?
-You'll forgive me if I dont buy into that. I accept its a plausible explenation, but I dont believe that was why it was stuck in there.Sgt Stryker wrote...

-Again. You are applying human tactics (metagaming for a lack of a better word) and motivation to one where I simply do not think we have any ingame or insetting precident, any evidence nor any logical reason from a reaper point of view to do it.Naughty Bear wrote...
Or they can just broadcast a Banshee screaming on loop. Deprive everyone of sleep, you don't want to hear something like that during the day or night.
Think that was a tactic used during WW1 or 2, except it was not a Banshee on loop.
Any form of weapon should be used, if everyone is fighting hard, you want to beat them down, ruin them physically and mentally. Remember, this cycles galaxy is united after all, something so far we have not seen in the codex for other cycles that have been harvested and Shepard is actively hunting down the Reapers as well, this cycle is different so the Reapers should not take any chances at all.
They were delayed twice, their puppets were wiped out and their vanguard has been destroyed.

The military strenght of the Reapers is so strong that they dont apply any kind of tactics really. They just steamroll over the galaxy in all out frontal attacks, in several theaters and just start the culling. No warning. No propaganda. No ultimatums or anything. So why bother now?
