The inherient problem with both of ur aproaches is this : The people you talk to or poll will invariably be somewhat influenced by what u think and as well people of one opinion flock together to any polling in either direction or asking in either way is bound to be skewed to some degree. that said there are some polls on independant sites that do show a majority in favor of new endeings just not to the degree on the boards here.

I guess what I'm trying to say is...

Fans not buying another product from BioWare is something that happens all the time in the market place. I know people that will no longer watch JJ Abrams produced stuff after LOST. I know people that won't watch M Night Shamylan films after Lady In The Water.

After Lost introduced something in the final moments that superseded the importance of the characters and the island, it was truly "over".  These things are usually put in to "get us talking."  The thing is, just like ME3, we WERE talking about your stories the whole time, we didn't need a final brand new zinger.

The reason The Sixth Sense worked and the other Shama-lama-ding-dong films didn't, is because the bone he threw us at the end reinforced the importance of Bruce Willis' character and the futility of his desires, not superseded their importance.

Avoiding opinions that conflict with your own is how we form ignorant prejudices and biases. If they are being reasonable about their platform, everyone should read it to understand the other side of the argument.

The ability to develop empathetic responses is a hallmark of a truly mature and enlightened mind.

In a Better setting yes but this issue is highly Polarizing so you get a lot more of the Spectrum. And im not saying people avoid differing opinoions im saying their more likely to talk to someone in a setting like this that shares their opinon

Read this link instead: http://academic.broo...ens/ending.html

The day art died, 1861. The fears of all these game journalists and pundits, realized. Remember how this killed books?

I'm not surprised. They did give the game a 10/10, after all. Man, all the major gaming sites seem to be against us.

mainly because they're just skimming through the games 90% of them havent even played the other games and they arent emotionally invested in the product.

oh and the fact they are pretty much siding with the people they get money from . lol :P

Well Bioware stopped making art games the moment they released their first patch and piece of DLC for a game. Those change games so I guess by Bioware's logic they have never made art so it doesn't matter if they change the ending any way.

This one was better than others. At least they kinda acknowledge the sheer number of unhappy fans. And that those unhappy fans can be justified in their unhappiness.

There is merit to the argument against changing the game. I'm all for changing the ending, but the ramifications could be immense. Hell, even if they do it right there's a chance that ME's name will be sullied forever.

quite frankly if they fixed this, id love to buy the next mass effect game that comes out and there are many who have the same opinion so nah i dont think it will be sullied.

its funny because many lies were told in game informers ME3 article, Like that they will branch off as they are not worried about a sequel, Ironically they said that the best ending would be the hardest to get. which is partly true, we are still fighting to get the best ending.

Uh-huh.

The fact that DLC would be out there invalidates what the player has done. What if they don't like the changes? What if they feel that there is no longer a "real" ending because this is content that was created by a vocal group that they may not agree with.

Creative groups that alter their films, shows, or games are usually crucified in the end. Changing anything will just cause more drama for Bioware. Adding clarifying content? Sure. Changing? No.

This is as dumb as the logic that says that Isabella shouldn't be a lesbian or Anders be gay in ANYONE's playthrough, because then it invalidates mine. I believe the term that was coined was "parallel universe control freak."

Also, again, Bethesda's Broken Steel DLC would like to say Hi. As would PoP's epilogue. As would Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. As would JK Rowling. Honestly, please quit holding this up like its some terrible thing that will usher in a gaming apocalypse.

No, it won't add more drama. It will just reverse it so that the majority of people who are unsatisfied with the endings can have their endings, the people who like the endings as is, can not download the DLC and can be satisfied with those endings. Only the parallel universe control freaks will feel that DLC with *alternate* endings will "invalidate" their own endings.

I thought that article was pretty good, I didn't think about the ramifications about adding a clear cut happy ending choice. It has been way to much fun to speculate and argue about which RBG is better. With a happy ending it will be obvious and nobody will care.

Yeah and yet GI brings up none of these in their review and I don't think they will ask Hudson about them in their next interview.  It's like GI doesn't even bother to read their owm magazine.  Well if the people who write it don't read it why should I?

Game Informer mostly gives out good reviews and gives certain games a fighting chance when other sources call them out on horrible things. However, their opinion pieces are riddled with sarcasm and snark. They usually come off like they're trying to connect to the readers with geeky nerd humor or take unpopular opinions and seem like the rebel with a cause. It feels like the sleaze of Playboy jokes mixed with the sensationalism of Cosmo's "secret sex tips".

I would like to know...

To those saying your choices are invalidated, because later content is added that would have made you choose differently...

I hope you are also against DLC in general. Any kind of DLC that is made after a story is over, is an extension/reflection on the choices you have made. And what if they had DLC that took place after the ending. Would you suddenly have a problem with that too? Because suddenly it changes how the Mass Effect world is, and the new missions would reflect these choices.

Again with the artistic integrity defence. Didn't we take that behind the shed and shoot it yet? I stopped reading right there. I've developed an alergy.

ME is a product first and art a distant second.

It's almost like Bioware is handing them a script.

I love how Game Informer thinks they're better than everyone else because no reason.

Seriously, they have no legit reason to think they're better than anyone. I think they actually used to be a good magazine, but then they started thinking their **** didn't stink like everyone else's. Like their opinion was LAW and anyone else who thought otherwise was clearly an ignorant moron.

Seriously, that is kind of arrogant. No offense, or anything but the fact that people have opinions makes them bad?

Yeah and i have yet to hear anyone answer my question.  if changing a game means that it is not art any more then why is it okay for Bioware to release patches and DLC for their games.  those two things change the games so how has Bioware ever been making art?

Well, I have said this in other forums, but the percpetion of art is the legitemacy of it.

the question is not if Bioware makes art, but rather can video game companies make art? from indie teams to AAA titles, do you see any video games as a piece of artfrom, irregardless of DLC or intent or anything like that?
