I promoted two characters for the prize weekend, but had a power surge right after I promoted both of them. When I logged back in, I found both of my characters were at level 1, with a negative number of skill points, all of which were already spent in their previous skill trees.

I've included screenshots.

I played a game as my sentinel to see if that fixed anything, he just keeps levelling up and taking away from the 'negative' number, but still plays like a 20.

I had this problem before too. You can either level them back up to level 20 or use the power reset card to have the correct amount of skill points for that level.

It would probably fix itself if I left it alone and levelled both back up to 20.

I just wanted to point it out because it is a bug and was a little bit annoying, because I kinda wanted to respec my sentinel anyways.

This happened to me today. Both of the classes I promoted are glitched like this with -82 talent points. I didn't have a power surge or anything though. Sigh, first I lost all my guns/characters which I never got back, and now this.

The whole point of me promoting was so I could fix my classes. Just ran into this bug and... now I'm back to my previous, undesired power selections and I have to grind my way up to level 20 again, only to reset again?

*checks the box* Yeah, it says "Bioware", not "Obsidian".

I just got this glitch/bug now on my Engineer. I promoted her, leveled her back up to 14 and during a match I get disconnected. Log back in, I now have -43 skill points, and now 4/5 skills are maxed and I'm unable to assign skills to her. 

I contacted Live Chat, and all they said was go to the forums, sorry.

I'm really pissed now, I spent all that time excited to try out a new build and now my engineer is totally broken. Even if I leveled it back up to 20 I'd have to promote again and run the risk of it happening AGAIN. 

PLEASE fix this Bioware. Contact the customer service reps and allow them to verify the bug on our accounts and hand out respec cards to those of us affected by this devastating bug. I'm sure alot more are going to find out about this bug during this weekends operation: raptor

My engineers were deleted even though they retained their levels, even though I promoted my Sentinel and Vanguard. Both of the two I promoted (Van and Sent) have the negative point bug.

I'm glad I promoted the two classes I play the least.

I reached level 20 with my infiltrator and spent my skill points. Didn't promote, didn't do anything after that but leave the match lobby. Upon leaving I lost the experience points I had earned but retained the skills I leveled up but with negative -5 points from my last skill purchase.

Stop doing events and fix your program. This is just going beyond embarrassing to down right sloppy. At least when Valve screws up this much they give us free hats.

I just promoted all six classes. After quickly naming a Soldier, Engineer and Adept, I went to select a Sentinel and noticed that my old Turian Sentinel was still there - there was no "New!" tag over him, he still had the name I had given him before promoting the class, and his skills were at -84 or somesuch, with points already assigned as if he were level 20 despite being level 1.

Then I noticed that one of my old Engineers had re-appeared despite having been "New!" just a few minutes ago, as were my Infiltrators and Vanguards.

FYI I can't think of anything that would have caused this other than my attempt to buy a Jumbo Equipment Pack after promoting my characters. I say try because it told me my purchase failed to go through and I don't seem to have been credited any consumables despite losing the credits.

Please provide us with a fix.

Promoted all 6 classes about 2 hours ago. Everything was as it should be. After some matches I closed ME3 and Origin and turned off my PC. Now I turned on my PC, opened ME3 and here we go - 4 characters bugged - human male soldier, turian sentinel, quarian infiltrator and human female engineer!
All with pre-promotion appearances, names, abilities, and with negative skill points.
Using respec card fixed that, but I have only 1 card left.
"Nevermore" to promotions until bioware fixes that crap.

after I promoted, my quarian infiltrator somehow retain her previously picked skills and appearence

now that I check around I found more of my character stuck in previous config...
also I'm pretty sure I named the turian sentinel "overlord" before promote, then I created one with the same name after the promote.
would this be the source of problem?

I promoted during the late night, about an hour after the event was launched, and I got to place out my skill point all fine, no problem. It was first after my first game today that the powers were sent back to what I had at 20. Highly disappointing, my build really needed some improvement.

Given that, according to the post dates on the forum, this glitch has been cropping up for a while now and isn't an event weekend specific thing, maybe Operation Raptor is Bioware's way of doing a massive test of the promotion system to try and track down this bug?  Or maybe I'm completely wrong and it's a crazy random happenstance.

I got this too.  Here's a  screenshot after promotion... I noticed that the name and colours are that of the old guy.



Interestingly, after promotion I spent some time getting my new guy to level 17... what happened to him, his name, his colours, and his skill tree?

To reproduce:
This issue can be reproduced by promoting your characters then getting an exp card from the store.

Eg.
Promote
Get exp card from store.
your char is now like it was never promoted.

To avoid:
Deploying all your chars after you have promoted seems to avoid the issue.

Bugged.

My vanguard, soldier, and adept were all promoted. And now they're all level -82. Also, I can't seem to find any games. Nice weekend Bioware/EA.
