(sorry for the double post. I can't access the first one for some reason.)
I've gotta penchant for playing an archer in any RPG I pick up (especially when you see guys like this  bad@ss mofo), but I've found they're usually weak and potentially frustrating to play. Should I take up a dual wielder instead? Two handed weap? Magic?

Also, I wanted to go the Dalish Elf route, but is it just me, or does the origin kinda suck compared to the human and dwarf ones?

I feel your pain.
I've been trying to decide whether to go with a rogue or a warrior for my first playthrough for a couple of months now.  At least I'm quite sure I want to be a dwarven noble!

Best advice I can think of is to figure out who your companions are going to be, and then be whatever that party needs.
