What's up with the cowls?   The only thing I'm disappointed with in this game so far is the lack of diversity in mage hats/robes.  I was expecting to eventually find a simple hood, or hooded robe of some kind.  Instead, all I've come across are tall hats that look like a tribal heirloom, just look plain silly.  I feel really stupid running around with 3 mages looking like extras out of the coneheads.

Anyways, this is disappointing to me.  When I picture a mage, the image that comes to mind is simple robes and plain hoods.  In my opinion, the robes are too ornate, and the hats are just out of place.  There should be more diversity in mage gear.  This is trivial, however, when considering how much I like everything else about this game.  BioWare did a great job on the game regardless of my opinions on this.

I have never seen a hood, just a bunch of retarded conehead cowls

Very early on. I think it's called Enchanter's Hood or something. It's still pretty fruity.

I really think the mage headgear in this game is an inside joke.

enchanter's cowl, and I think the guy in camp sells a cowl as well.

That's the only one though. There is a very dissapointing variety of mage and rogue gear. Best solution I've found till the modders are able to get their own models in is simply be a arcane warrior... lol

Agreed, I'll be on the lookout for a mod that enables headgear to be invisible at all times. I'd prefer a toggle per character though since non-mages have ok headgear.

Also, you are in those starter-looking mage robes for ages. Need more awesome looking gear.. like WoW (This is in no way comparing the two, but look at the item model diversity.)

I fully agree to this. One of the few things i was really disappointed in
was the way bioware designed the mages armors.  Cone-heads
and robes which makes your mage look like something from a dumpster.

I would actually like to see an option to hide the headgear. Yes, more types of "mage" headgear would be appreciated. But my mage has a pretty head that I worked a long time on. I want to see it all the time, not just in cut-scenes. Other RPG's do it (nameless). I would enjoy it if they incorporated it in DAO. Stick this in your Dev blog and smoke it.

Bioware seems to insist that mages should look uncool. Loads of ridonculous headgear, when a simple hood or open helmet would do the trick. Below is what looks to be balanced gear including a helmet for mages.

mage gear in general seems to be lacking in the art department. you either have variations on the mage robes, the archon robes, or the one with all the cleavage (I can't remember the name right now) but just in different colors :(

Don't forget rogue gear. I was sooo let down by the gear. Start out with basic leather. Looks like a leather vest and skirt. Gear up to another piece of leather. Same thing with some studs in it. Gear up again, its green leather with studs in it. Buy the expensive rogue leathers for 92g and viola!... utter letdown, same leather with studs, but its purple.

I figured atleast the named leather armor would look nice. Nope.

Hats go for the same for rogues as mages. They need some nicer headware. Sure the plate helms are cool for warriors, but mages and rogues get either conehead cowls *Shivers* or the rugby 1960's leather helmet.

I was hoping for a tiara/diadem headgear for mages, they look decent and You can see Your hair wearing them, well... too bad that Bioware didn't think of them... :(

I'd kill for the Felon's Coat to be modded into some kind of duster coat thing. That'd be EPIC.

Haha, yeah... hoods would be a welcomed change over the stupid looking conehead hats. Seriously, who thought it was a good idea to design the headgear like that?

Thats what I was expecting to see. Or atleast some kind of coat. Not the regular leather miniskirt design. I've had enough of my male pc's thighs.

I agree that tiaras & diadems would work, but we need somethin for the guys too, even if it has to be something as band-aid fix as bandannas.

Or, buggers on a helm that actually covers the head, how about Lyrium Glass Shades! (With the frame made outta the appropriate tier metal, like Grey Iron & such!) Tough buggers on it not fitting a medieval setting, Bioware had their chance to give us realm proper attire. Realm inappropriate attire is better than lookin stupid/ridiculous! Image IPB

What we need are some proper wizard hats. Or diadems/tiaras. And some motherfudging rogue hoods/cowls!

Yes they should have included more hood models for mages and probably rogues, but we have the toolset will and thanx for the warning about the felon's coat model looking like the other skirts i was saving to buy that for my rogue but for me the look would really ruin it even though the stats are super
