The strange thing is, a simple monk-ish robe and hood would most likely look better than these peacock outfits, which also would've been easier to model/texture than these elaborate fashion disasters. On the other hand, if they wanted to go all Discworld with ridiculous wizard robes, then they're not ridiculous enough by far.

There should at least be the option. Outside of the Circle, I'd doubt any Mage would want to wear flamboyant crap like that. Makes an easy target for pitchfork-wielding mobs, y'know.

I agree about the mages outfits. Is it ia bird? A transvestite? or a mage?

Las Vegas girls have better outfits even. sheesh lol.

Frankly the only head gear I actually liked was the Templar Helms. All the Mage hats were just absurd. They looked like Dunce Caps, like they made thick schoolkids wear in the 50's.

I got so sick of this stuff that I've basically insituted a party-wide decree that no party member will wear helms. I like their faces too much to obscure with daft hats.

I would have liked some wide-brimmed adventurer's hat though, like they had in NWN2.

they almost remind me of something out of final fantasy, sans the skimpiness.

A few massive/heavy helms look alright but, yes, I would like a "hide helm" check box (ideally, it would be part of each character's individual equipment window and thus not a party-wide option).

Masks, hoods, hats, cowls for rogues and mages would have been nice. As it stands you're pretty much limited to either Enchanter's Arming Cowl or the conehead look, and all your non-mages will be wearing brown bowls on their head unless they start wearing heavy+.

Cowls and masks. Dear lord, I thought the mage hats were a bad joke at first. I couldnt bring myself to wear any of the hats in this game. If I were forced to wear such hats, I'd probably turn apostate and start slaughtering templars.

Whoever came up with the "pointy hat turban" design should be, at the very least, tied to a flagpole and smacked with a trout.

Worst mage headgear I've seen. Ever.

I would kill for a traditional widebrimmed floppy wizard/witch's hat. :wizard: I don't care if they are a cliche. Hardly any RPGs have them anymore. :(

Seriously they needed to put some more time into making better looking rogue and mage gear. I have tried out most of the gear at this point and the majority of it looks awfull. I mean whats with the fur looking shoulders on all of the mage gear, and why all the pointy hats, and why are there so few acceptable gloves and footwear for mages. I seriously hope they were not relying on DLC for all of the good gear because the DLC gear now blows the stock stuff out of the water.

I agree. The only stock stuff I fancied wearing on my Arcane Warrior was the normal Mage Robes (which I thought were quite nice) and the ancient Elven armour (which looked awesome). After that I couldn't find anything better for my AW than Blood Dragon armour in terms of both stats (the Blood Dragon chest armour has stats that are cheesily good) and very much so in terms of looks.

I think what's happened is a lot of effort was made on relatively few bits of gear. Which is fine if you like using that gear, but it's fair to say most mages aren't going to be walking around in full Blood Dragon gear. Its less Gandalf and more Cylon.

What? What's wrong with the phallic head-condoms my mages wear?

I have to agree with this. As much as I love everything else in this game, the Mage (and Rogue for that matter) armor and head pieces look god aweful. I expected some awesome looking cowls/hoods with arcane symbols etched into the rim of the hood.

It's a mystery to me how the art team managed to drop the ball on this, yet did such an amazing job on practically everything else lol...

Actually, For some reason it seems like deeps cowls are anathema to video games. It is that hard to design a hood?

Heck even if they introduce good DLC gear could they please make an interesting quest or something to get it. Something like the Juggernaut armor quest or the Drakescale quest. Not just kill this easy bad guy and get this item that is better than the item you got from the hour long quest.

Speaking of good DLC gear. Here's a link you might want to follow to show ALL DLC.

maybe those hats are all the rage in ferelden... just because it looks silly in our world doesn't make them any less cool to the mages. They also seem to be a status symbol, so they are large and flourishy.

If the robes were plainer, it wouldn't be so obvious that all mages, except Morrigan wears the same outfit. It's really stupid that apostates still wears those boring ones from the circle. And a plain hood would fit nice on any character:)

In their concept art they did everything right, what happened? They've left out proper hoods/cloaks and their best tatoo. I just can't believe it...

Libertarian cowl isn't bad. Especially with Reaper's Vestments.

There are hoods, not many of them but they do exist.

Most of the hats in game were made for this guy however.

Whatever, you'd wear it if you could.
