in ME3 i took javik on most missions just to hear what he had to say

 Liara and the birdma... Garrus. Only on Thessia did I bring along Javik.

ME2: Garrus and Samara
ME3: Liara and Garrus/Javik

Mass Effect 1: Garrus and Wrex (ALWAYS)
Mass Effect 2: I played around a bit more but usually Garrus and Tali
Mass Effect 3: Garrus and Liara, but I did switch Liara out a couple times for Tali.

In conclusion: Garrus is my bro.

In ME1, I always take Wrex.
In ME2, I always had Miranda for her passive and then usually Jack.
In ME3, I took when I could always Kaidan because he's my LI plus Cryo charging people is hilarious, and Liara for Warp.

ME1: Wrex/Ashley and whatever LI for the sake of roleplaying (femShep - Kaidan, maleShep - Liara)
ME2: rotated them, but most used I think was Miranda, Kasumi and Samara.
ME3 - Liara and Kaidan.
