I used to bring Legion everywhere after I got him in ME2 in order to hear all the interaction.

i even modded my gane to get legion and tali early (right of the bat to be exact) just to get their dialogue and powers on my early missions. Trust me Legion+window= Ultimate badass

Garrus, Garrus, Garrus.... And.... Garrus!

I always take him. Though in ME3 i took him and Javik all the time with my first playthrough. Because i wanted the Protheans to get their long awaited revenge on the Reapers. And i thought he was funny with all his comments about Salarians used to eat flies and their liver was a delicasy in his cycle.

I usually try to mix up my squad, to hear varying dialogue, but I tend to bring either Kaidan (when I can) or Garrus with me.

ME1 it was typically Ashley (more firepower is never a bad thing).

ME2 usually Grunt (I... AM... KROGAN!!!!).

ME3 mostly Liara (statis is just too good not to have on a mission).

I usually pick all female squads.
ME1: Tali and Ashley
ME2: Tali and Miranda/Samara
ME3: Tali and (for as long as possible), Ashley, then Tali+EDI

Now, during my second playthrough, I'm trying to diversify more. I usually pick Garrus.

Tali, but each game has a quite strong second favorite that usually ends up coming along as well..

ME1: Wrex and Tali
ME2: Jack and Tali
ME3*: Ashley and Tali

*Though I usually go with Liara or Vega while waiting for Ash or Tali to get back to the Normandy.

For ME3? Liara. However, for all three games, I usually brought Tali most of the time.

Depends on which game I'm playing.

With ME1 I tend to pick my favourites with half an eye on squad balance.

With ME2, I always pick the characters most relevant to the situation. For instance, if I'm doing Miranda's loyalty mission and therefore trying to gain her trust, I take Jacob as that's who she'd be most comfortable with.

With ME3 I was mostly back to my ME1 mindset, only I cared even less about balance and with such a small selection I stayed more consistently my favourite combo of Liara and Garrus.

Garrus. My Bro. I find I play best with Garrus covering combat and Liara covering biotics.
