Mordin in 2nd no one else has seen as much squaddie time, Garrus is too mainstream. (and overrated).

Not really. Each Shepard has one character they take with them every time, but that's mostly so I can hear everything that character has to say. On my first playthrough of ME1/3, it was Ashley (with Garrus). I substituted her for Jack (with Garrus) in ME2.

ME3: Liara T'Soni. I haven't run through the game with any non-"Liaramancer" Shepards yet, and probably won't if BioWare doesn't pull off a miracle.

ME 3: Liara and Garrus/Javik. As soon as i got Javik, i chose him because of his importance to the story, and all the lore you get with Liara and him with you. Go !?=# yourselves EA, he should have been the game from the get go!

ME 3: Garrus

EDI. The whole story is about her.

In ME2 it was Legion for the same reason and before that Tali. Yes, I realized the whole story was about synthetics vs organics since day one.

I picked Mordin a lot in ME2 too. For the suicide mission, the last bit of the run it was Garrus and Mordin. Garrus led the second squad in my original ME2 play, then he and Mordin battled the T-800 with me and Mordin rescued Shepard as he climbed into the shuttle. So yea, Mordin is cool too. 

But Garrus also rocks and he's my Shepard's wingman.

ME1: Garrus and either Wrex, Kaidan and Liara, depending on which Shepard I had.

ME2: Garrus primarily, but this was the one game I tended to really mix up who I took. My difficulty was honestly there were so many really good characters I really really liked in ME2, I had trouble sticking to just one or two. My most common besides Garrus were Kasumi, Mordin, Thane and Grunt. But I used Tali, Legion, Miranda, Jack and Samara/Morinth too occassionally....GAH! I've played ME2 through so many times, and still I just can't pick. All except Jacob and Zaeed - they stayed on the ship.

Honestly ME2 was the high point of Mass Effect character-wise, with so many really interesting people on board to interact with and chose from for missions. I still replay ME2 because I love trying out new combinations for different missions.

ME3: Garrus and EDI or Liara. Sometimes Vega, because I think he had potential and I really like his interactions with Shep - I just think he could have been introduced much better in ME3 to those of us who only played the games. I ended up dropping Kaidan off the rotation entirely for this game because he pissed my Shep off so much in the first hour of the game.

I just freaking love Garrus's dialog through the games. He -always- has Shepards back and feels like he's the unrecognized second in command through all three games. There is no Shepard without Vakarian.

tali's sheilds made her the obvious pick in ME 1, and her drones made her the obvious pick in 2 and 3 at least thats how it was for me

wrex in 1 because of regen health

miranda in two for warp + overload / legion for obvious synthetic missions like overlord

Edi because of overload / Laira for cerburus mission to get rid of those stupid guys with big sheilds

ME1: Whoever complimented my setup better in the way of abilities
ME2: Zaeed on missions where disruptor ammo was needed, Grunt/Jacob where incen ammo was needed, Miranda with Zaeed because their 'class abilities' tended to overlap and turn Zaeed into a killing machine. Then Jack when I realized how amazing Warp ammo was.

I wonder if they have stats on the most used squadmate? Just using the non scientific data from this thread, it looks like Garrus by a long mile.
