I don't get the hate for Vega, BTW. He helps Shepard seem more mature and even hilights his mortality. Not that Shepard is old, but compared to Vega, who's fresh marine.. You know. Theres a famous quote about men not being made for war after 30 and in ME3 Shepard seems to be nearing that stage.. Hes angrier about having to fight and fight all the time. Hes tired of the killing and dying, because he's more mature.When the mentor thing started unfolding between them was just icing for me. My Shepard uses him a lot because as he is getting older, he appreciates a strong young marine who knows how to, and loves to fight.  A guy that can allow Shepard to take some palys off, if you will.  I say this because I've seen many people compare him to Jacob, and I couldn't disagree more.

Garrus is a mandatory with ME But every one is great. Second is Liara. And I personally miss Zaeed and Kasumi. Zaeed was cool. A experienced veteran. And Kasumi.. She was very interesting character. At least I could meet them in ME3.

Garrus, Garrus, Garrus. Even on my Infiltrator. Story-wise, well duh. Gameplay-wise, he kicks a lot of ass. With his big weapon damage bonus on Snipers, give him a Widow and he can easily chip off a lot of health from those Banshees. I also fancy giving him or the Virmire Survivor the Falcon; low damage, but handily stunlocks enemies. Plus Overload is an extremely powerful ability.

I am quite varied with my choices, but Tali and Garrus probably get the most frequent picks from the moment they are available. If there was a third slot I think they would always be part of the team. Javik tagged along quite a bit simply for his random dialogue on mission.

I play FemShep, and it's Garrus in all 3 games, didn't romance him, but he is just a star, especially in 3 on the Citadel when I intentionally missed the bottle... 'This is my favorite spot on the Citadel...' classic quote. And he was actually pleased to see me in 2 when you go and recruit him.

Wrex and Tali, for the same reason, they are pleased to see you aren't dead, really disappointed you don't get Wrex in 3 as a squad member, would have settled for Grunt as a replacement.

I found Liara and EDI a little fragile in heavy combat, Javik is a violencer of the highest order, along with James, with Ashley close behind, so it was 1 of those 3 and Garrus in 3.

ME2, Kasumi, Zaeed, Grunt or Samara with Garrus

ME1, Ashley or Wrex with Garrus

Mass Effect 1: Garrus or liara depending on my class.

Mass Effect 2: Garrus basically all the time and i constantly switch my second squadmate.

Mass Effect 3: Liara and Garrus most of the time, but i do like a little more variety every now and again. Except Vega never leaves the cargo hold...

Miranda. I'm still sad they took her away from me in ME3, I adore ice queens.

Depending on their availability I'll usually take my LI everywhere on at least one play through. I've taken Tali through every available instance in ME1 and ME2, Liara as well. I've only gone through ME3 once, but I brought EDI with me everywhere there because I loved every piece of dialogue from her.

Me3: If i am on a biotic shep that I gave stasis LI/Garrus or James/Garrus. If I am on a nonbiotic without stasis LI/Laira or Liara/Garrus. Mainly because Stasis is so strong.

but I always bring Liara because she sets up my biotic combos and I've stayed faithful to her through the whole series. She's my girl.

Even though I don't like Kaiden, I usually bring him because he has overload and can detonate biotic combos. 

Though Garrus comes with me a lot because he's like my best friend. 

I wish we fought more geth, then I would've totally brought Tali more often.

Other than that, I roleplay it when I can. I brought Javik to Thessia, Tali and EDI(for the irony/interesting dialogue) to all the geth and Rannoch missions, 

in ME1 it was Garrus and Liara
in ME2 the crew was so vast that I rarely brought one person reguarly. I guess Jack and Garrus more than most.

Second squadmate? They vary more often:

1: Kaidan or Tali
2: Miranda or Legion or sometimes Tali
3: Kaidan. Sometimes Liara

Garrus is my BroShep's buddy. FemSheps too I guess. Cool to see most of the community digs him too.

I guess I am the practical sort. I typically play as a soldier, so I bring my best biotic and my best tech along. This was typically Liara and Tali or Samara/Jack and Tali.

The fact that they were all the hot females has nothing to do with it, of course.

ME2: Kasumi and Garrus or Grunt/Kasumi and Legion. It's always Kasumi and Someone anyway. Kasumi is awesome, period.
ME3: Javik and Garrus. The most epic space bro combined with probably the funniest Squadmate in the game, and his biotics are nice to. Slam battles are epic.

I've been good about mixing up my party so it's balanced and I can have speshul moments with each character. I do tend to keep Kaidan around though.
