I like the fact your choices impacts the characters and the environment. The story line was very interesting and well thought. This and along with the different classes gives it the best replay value I had come across in a game in a long time. I have enjoyed the game more and more each time I play it through it does not get old.

Special? Hmm... is there any RPGs from the West that match this kind of quality? The dialogues, the branching options, the scenario, the soundtracks, the replayability, the story, the memorable moments & characters, the interesting quests, the interaction with companions.

Only BioWare have these qualities packed.

A lot has been said and is correct, so many angles to enjoy this game. First, yep - it is Bioware. Ever since I got into Bioware via KOTOR and Jade Empire, I have been a fan. Coming from a FPS world, I came to expect maybe 10hrs of play out of a $70 (CAD) purchase. Then you get Bioware, and realize what "money's worth" really is. So far, I am about 54% complete and about 55 hours or so in. So much exploring to do, and running around after them quests. Characters are well written. Dialogue/choices is awesome. Voices are fantastic. Story is compelling. Immersion. Music. trying out different character types (ie mage, rogue, tank), combat.... Yeah, there is a lot about this game that makes it a must have for your collection.

5/5!!

Actually what really gets me is the level of interaction and dialog with the other party members. And I love how they carry conversations with each other. This is the first game where I really feel like I am in a party of people and feel the camaraderie.

I'm so addicted to this game and I'm so not a gamer. I do love Sims though and that's probably my big draw to the game, the similarity to the sims. You can customize everything if you get the tool kit I believe and just the standard character creator is pretty darned good, being able to change facial features and such. The story line is amazing. Besides having 6 different opening stories to play the dialouge between the characters is priceless. I love being able to chat with my guys, being able to play the good guy, the bad guy or the snarky guy or a mix of all depending on what replies you choose. Also I'm completely blown away by all the little details in the game, the fabric patterns, the fabric textures, all the different looks for each peice of armor, the etching on the weapons. It's all amazing. Plus I've found it very hard to get stuck. Like if you make a bad decision the story keeps playing along it doesn't just trap you at that level. You can help or harm everything has its consequences though....anyways I really could go on forever about how enthralled I am with this game right now.

A better use of you parents money would be to ask for a waffle iron. It is the gift that keeps on giving.

I'm asking for a waffle iron on this holiday gift giving season.

This is not a game, this is a story that you personally take part in, and may I say, it's wonderful.

I would like to pre-order Dragon age 2 as soon as possible :-)

I'm thinking just the same, it's not really a game :P

For me; It's good because it's the first game in years that has stopped me from playing any other (MMO) games while playing it, totally stealing all my gaming attention. It's also the first game in years that has made me play over 24hrs straight (wich is quite surprising when I 'suffer' from hypersomnia). One of the few games through my gaming lifetime that has provided me with more than 500 hours of fun, and I'm still not bored with this game--and I have a feeling I won't be for quite a while. And once the regular stuff gets 'boring', there's the toolset to play around with, making my own adventure(s)/mods (and sharing it with others).

The game is speshul.

It has swords... uh, and you can get different swords.

There are swords, cuz there are knights...

... once you get enough energy crystals, you can get a shield!

For your health.

Ok, here are the good things about DA:O

- The characters (NPCs / companions) are very well done. Everyone has his/her own agenda and you'll see and feel it.

- The game - if you keep your mind somewhat open - will get you emotionally involved (to the good and to the bad)

- A decent story (yes, it's mainstream, yes, it's NOT original and all that, but still: it's ok)

- A soundtrack, which supports the story

- Excellent voice overs (save the crappy sync with the animations)

- A fairly high replay value

- It's easy to learn (the combat and skill system is very simple and it's almost impossible to create a useless build (on "normal difficulty" anyway)

- The background infos on this world are just enough (the world still feels very small, though)

The graphics are not high-level, but gets the job done.

You have much to discover, I suggest you take your time for the first run through (the first is always the best). It took me almost 80 hours on my first run through and I did almost all side quests.

Simple: The characters the world and the lore, and how they all interact.

And that it's a bioware game.

Bioware really have created a truely amazing world, I can't wait for DAO 2 :D
